[OPEN] At Dusk, I'll Think Of You
WHO: Sora and You!
WHERE: All around the town
WHEN: All of June
WHAT: June Catchall and Bingo Prompts!
WARNINGS: n/a
One would think that, with all of the NPCs missing and half the city still unpainted, Sora would be pretty upset, right? After all, his history of dealing with things hasn't exactly been the best.
Well, you'd be wrong there. In fact, Sora seems downright cheerful, as if it was even possible to be more optimistic than he usually is. He's working his fingers to the bone, helping everyone he comes across and then some, and at any one time he'll be working on one thing or another. Geeze, does this kid ever take a break?
[TRIBUNAL TERRACE] 101 Dalmatians, except not really
If you thought Sora would be doing any of the other things on the list for Tribunal Terrace, then you don't know him at all. Every single day in June, he swings by the firestation to check up on the dogs that have been left behind by their firefighter partners, making sure they're happy and well fed and that someone's let them out for a bit.
He's so used to being the only one here, it's a bit of a surprise to show up and see someone else doing the same.
"Oh, hey. Did you come to see the dogs, too?"
[APPRASSAGE] Where's Bob Ross when you need him
An artist, Sora is not, but hey, he's trying. There's still plenty of white space that needs seeing to, walls and walls of blank canvas to him to practice on, and a bright blue paintbrush for him to play with. Mostly, he's just trying to fill in more buildings, but every once in a while you might come across a stick figure with spiky hair that looks vaguely like a certain high school graduate.
If you follow the stick figures, you'll eventually find their owner with his tongue sticking out of his mouth while he makes another attempt at it.
[CHATA] More like 102 Various Breeds of Dogs
Sora volunteers at the Animal Shelter regularly anyway, so the only real difference for him is nearly tripling the amount of time he'd normally be there. It's not any trouble for him to up his hours, especially now that school is out. If you're looking for him, chances are this is where you'll find him.
Additionally, sometime around the last week of the month, a large hand painted sign will show up on the front door of the shelter advertising that an adoption drive was currently ongoing, and all adoption fees would be waived for the entire week. The sign is messy, but legible, and looks like it was painted in ocean blue. There's a cheerful voice at the front desk upon entering, where Sora's sitting with a cat on his lap and paint smeared on his cheek.
"Hi! Can I help you?"
[VIEA VILLAGE] I can safely blame this entirely on James
The Farmers Market isn't usually Sora's scene, but there's an exception for that today. Set up at a booth in the middle of the busy square, there's a messy sign made with blue paint tacked to the front that reads;
'Kittens free to a good home!!!'
It's also decorated with flowers and smiley faces, and on the front table there's a tip jar made with the same scribbled handwriting. It counts as selling if you're able to make money in tips, right?
Behind the booth, in a large crate with high walls, are five sweet little tabby kittens that are about ten weeks old playing and sleeping and meowing. There's also a mama cat, also up for adoption, curled up in the bin with them. Sora's dog Buck, who is absolutely not up for adoption, is tied by his leash to the front table and sitting calmly to the side, while Sora himself is playing with the kittens with a piece of string. He looks up easily whenever someone approaches.
"Heya! Are you interested in one of my friends here?"
[ENPRISE] 3 days or less, or your order is free
Enprise was definetly the hardest to choose a good deed for. All of the things on Zee's list sounded like fun, and theoretically Sora could do them all, but he's not completely oblivious to his own limitations at least. Maybe if he had time travel powers...
At any rate, he's decided the best thing to do is to pick the one that would help people the most. And, judging from the packages and letters still flying around the streets after falling from the sky last month, delivering the mail would probably be it. Sometime during the month, you might find a teenager running up to you and asking your name.
"Hi! I think this is yours, right?" he says, handing you a letter with your address on it.
[TISSE] He's probably eaten like three of them himself
After picking up a few dozen cupcakes from Minako, Sora can be found just down the street handing them out to anyone who walks past. They're all chocolate, but the frosting is a rainbow of different colors, and the kid's fingers are stained similarly from picking them up out of the boxes. He'll happily give you as many as you want, if you ask.
Even if you don't want one, too bad, he's shoving one into your hands anyway. But how could you resist his sweet smile he gives it to you?
[RECOLLE] You knew it was coming eventually
As the month goes on, Sora's manic energy from the beginning of June begins to dip. It's slow at first, barely noticeable unless you know him well. But then the bags under his eyes become more pronounced, his hair messier than normal, and it seems like he's always working. No matter where you find him, he's working on something, and really when does the kid find the time to sleep? He's a high school graduate now, shouldn't he be finding the time to go out and have fun while summer vacation lasts?
He doesn't seem to think so. There's really way too much to do, there's no way he can just stop and make someone else do it. And though it all, he's never anything but sweet and cheerful, a smile for anyone who so much as glances his way. Working and smiling seem to be what he's living for right now.
But even Sora can't keep it up forever, and it's only a matter of time before he crashes. If that day happens to be the last day of June, you can find him at his house, alone and curled up on his bed.

[Feel free to throw something else at me if you want!]
you know which one :v
Sora? Are you here?
[She called him multiple times, wondering if he wanted to come over for dinner. Normally if he doesn't answer she assumes he's busy, but with the city the way it is, with the civilians the way they are, she doesn't like the idea of him not picking up.
Minako walks through the house, ignoring the sounds of her aunt and Shiori conversing, and heads upstairs.]
pst, it's a one story house ;D
Upon receiving his obligatory pets, he'll get up again and move back towards Sora's room, stopping at the corner and looking at Minako like he wants her to follow him.]
WHOOPS I forgot
Soraaa...I'm coming in, okay?
[Because she's not going to wait for permission anymore, not when it concerns Sora's mental health. Minako pushes the door back and steps in.]
no subject
He makes a bit of a noise at Minako announcing herself before coming in, but otherwise doesn't acknowledge her presence.]
no subject
[She makes her way over to the bedside, sitting down and reaching over to offer her hand for him to hold. It's distressing to see him like this, and her instincts to fixfixfix are kicking into overdrive.]
Sora, what's wrong?
no subject
The only response to her question is a halfhearted shrug, hindered slightly by Sora still laying on his side facing the wall.]
no subject
Sora...please tell me? I want to help.
no subject
...Dunno.
[How can he tell her what's wrong when he barely knows himself? The way he's feeling doesn't conform to words, or even a picture. There's no description for it, just various shades of exhaustion and loneliness.]
no subject
[She spends another good half minute just soothing him. They're not in any rush, and considering Sora's state, she thinks it will take a not insignificant amount of time to coax him into a better mood.]
I think...you're scared about all the changes happening in the city. I think that you're working this hard so you don't have to think about how Auntie and Shio are doing.
...am I right?
no subject
Sora's no stranger to being home alone, having basically been a latchkey kid from the time they moved here, but there's a difference between being home alone and living by yourself.
Letting go of Buck and Minako's hand, Sora flips himself over to face his cousin briefly before burying his face into her side.]
no subject
I'm so sorry, sweetie. You've had such a rough time...and you probably didn't want to bother me or Minato or anyone else with it, did you. [It's a painfully common trait this family has.] Would you like me to stay with you for a while? Until everyone comes back?
no subject
...Yeah...
[No offence to Minako, but he wonders if Minato would have a better idea of what's wrong with him. He half wants to get her to call her brother, but right now he's tired, and just wants to lay here with Minako. Just for a little while.]
no subject
She hopes that she can do some good for him. The problem is, she used to be so good at fixing things. When her life wasn't involved with Retrospec, she was able to soothe hurt feelings, be effectively encouraging. But things became so difficult, juggling so many internal struggles and worries on top of everyone else's struggles and worries, that things started slipping through her fingers, problems growing quietly bigger and bigger until she had no idea how to tackle them anymore.
At least affection is something she never runs out of. At least this is one way she can still get her feelings across to her loved ones. Minako holds back a sigh as she leans over and gently presses a kiss to Sora's forehead.]
Okay. I'll do that, then. [Maybe it'll give her more chances to coax a proper answer out of him.] I'll bring Korochan so him and Buck can play together, and we can have dinner together every day until we figure this out.
