It's A Party! [Semi-Closed]
WHO: Penelope, Freya, Minako, and Lucy + Friends
WHERE: Their house!
WHEN: 6/22
WHAT: A Housewarming and Graduation Party, with a splash of 4th of July. Pen's done with school and some of her closest friends are moving in. Any of their college aged CR is invited!
WARNINGS: Language and Drinking, nothing too serious.
It's been a while and there's been a lot of intervening circumstances, but it is time once again for a party. This time with different causes, not to distract but to relax, have some food and enjoy starting a new chapter in their lives. Pen's got housemates again, and the place is decorated for both graduation and the 4th of July since it seems silly to have another party and ignore that most American of holidays.
I. Afternoon
It starts in the mid afternoon and soon Pen's backyard is filled with the smells of grilled meats and roasting vegetables. A table is set up with condiments and buns for the, burgers, hotdogs, chicken, tofu, all that good stuff plus chips and chili to go with it. Coolers of beer and liquor, wine coolers, tea, soda, lemonade, and some bizarre Japanese sodas as is tradition.
Tables are up for Beer Pong, and Pen has opened up the new shed to show off the five or six retro arcade cabinets she's set up in there. Gifts from her sponsor for videos that she's repurposed. Get your drink on, or go lose some time playing Boulevard Brawler 2, Deadly Anger, and Queen of Fighters '98.
II. Dusk
Night's approach brings with it cooler times and more mellow tunes, as well as moving inside. No sense in being out in Mosquito Country. Pen's little monsters like Tons and White Hare happily run around, collecting trash and then bringing people drinks on request, though those drinks may be slightly off if they were mixed ones because what do you expect from a tiny monster...
Food and games are the order of the day, though Truth or Dare seems to be the perennial favorite. Have a drink and join the circle, or don't and go play Super Crash Brothers and Dario Party, it's all good!
III. Night
It's getting on in the evening, but Pen has one last little surprise for everyone set up. With Vera's help, she's got a small fireworks display set up, though thankfully nothing too dangerous.
This is the time to take a moment, relax, pull someone special aside and have a moment. Nobody is looking, and even if they were, nobody'll judge. Everyone needs a little peace sometimes, to enjoy the simple things. Appreciating them is the key to any successful life, before the turbulence of change hits once again...
OOC: If your character has CR with Minako, Penelope, Freya, or Lucy feel free to assume they were invited!

Lucy does not respond with a grumble (okay maybe a little one), and glances away to somewhere else in the yard. The tips of her ears are blending in with her hair.]
...yeah, well.
no subject
It's okay. There's nothing wrong with being horny every now and then.
no subject
Lucy's arm immediately lashes out to punch Yin in the shoulder, reflexive and probably with a vector behind it.]
Fuck off!
no subject
which she'll get to.
right after she picks herself and the spilled bottle off the grass. ] Mmph. O... kay.
[ be nice, Yin. you're a guest here. this is someone else's turf and you can't just go starting a fight no matter how hot your blood sings after just one punch.
she shrugs her shoulder and cracks her neck. the bottle? gets dumped in the nearby trash bin. ] I prolly deserved that. [ okay so she still managed to sound a bit bitter. I mean. that DID hurt, after all. she rubs the spot. ] Mmn.
no subject
But there was nothing. Yin just got up and threw that bottle away, plastic clattering over the glass. Lucy had been staring at Yin until now--but she might turn around. especially after that.
She slumped forwards, shoulders all huddled and voice all grumbles instead of words.]

[ Yin sat right back down on the bench, but this time facing inward away from people instead of out with her legs spread. ] So. I know a raw nerve when I see one. The hell was that about?
[ despite the language, Yin's tone wasn't aggressive. Lucy acted like "five drinks in and ready to fight" Yin and that bugged her considering there was no evidence of that kind of build-up. not that she saw. ] I mean, if the horn jokes bother you that much, I'll lay off. I didn't mean nothin' by it.
no subject
I hate these things.
[Lucy gestured flippantly at the horns, and set her hand back into her lap.]
Some...asshole saying we can't coexist with people didn't help. Someone I remembered.
[Her teeth ground together on further words, and Lucy fell silent.]
no subject
But... they're not here, right? Whoever it was. You've got friends. People in this town probably don't even know the difference either.
no subject
...yeah. I know. Just...
[It still astonished her, that people wanted to be her friend. That were her friend. Were willing to endanger themselves, just for her sake alone.
Was that something she deserved? Was that something--
Lucy shook her head sharply, rubbing at a temple.]
Stupid...fucking brain.
no subject
...but something stronger than butt soda. [ Yin smacked her hand on the table and stood up. ] What'll it be?
no subject
Lemonade is fine. One of the Mike's ones.
[She doesn't drink often; the concept of just being wobbly and undignified was mortifying. But one would probably help her stop acting like a coiled spring all the time.]
no subject
[ it's probably best for the both of them to chill out, figuratively and literally. she won't stick around for too long after dropping off one of the two bottles, but Yin thinks Lucy deserves at least one supportive pat on the back. ]
I know you don't need it, but... Anyone gives you shit? I've got your back.
no subject
And it took Lucy a moment to respond, though the corner of her mouth twitched up in an almost-smile.]
...heh. [Another moment; Lucy was busy dredging the wor5ds up.] Thanks.
[Slowly learning how to be less socially stunted was another thing she'd surprised herself with, after the friends thing.]
