[Welcome to the ReVA date auction! The party is in full swing, and depending on what you're here for, you're either behind the scenes and keeping the party running smoothly, or you're involved in the bidding process and ready to start the party.

If you're volunteering, you might've been the decorating and muscle crew, tasked with all the set up of tables, chairs, and pretty things on the walls before the event. Minako and Jasmine, your main ReVA coordinators, will need help during the event as well, with escorts for the eligible dates, spotters, bouncers, caterers, bartenders, even bidders on eligible dates...anything you can do to help, they'll be happy to put you to work!

Or maybe you're one of the guest musicians! These people answer to Elliot, and he'll be the one to organize the line up on the stage.

There will be a short while for everyone to mingle, but eventually the date auction will start. If you're an eligible date, you'll be waiting backstage until your name is called, so hang tight and practice your most charming smile. If you're a bidder, spotters will be handing out cards with auction rules and details on each eligible date. Bid on whoever you want, and make sure to drop by the cashier's table afterwards if you win the bid!

(And remember that the eligible dates have the right to end the date if they feel uncomfortable, so no funny business.)

You can leave for a more private date elsewhere, or you can spend the time at the dance that will be hosted right after the auction. Dress code isn't too important, but any excuse to dress up is a good one, right? This part is open to everyone, by the way, not just auction participants! Unwind with some refreshments (no alcohol for minors though, of course) and move your body to the beat out on the dance floor. Enjoy the rest of the night, and maybe with some luck, everything you do here will help Zee and the rest of the Retrospec team bring the city and all of its residents back.]

(well that nightmare sure fucking happened. he was expecting a little friendly competition, yes, (after all, it's nazuna, who aside from apollo wouldn't want to date him) but this was a much larger scale than anything he thought possible.

and he feels bad.

he's not usually one to have to worry about upsetting someone because, well, he's never really had "someone" in his life to upset. close acquaintances made up most of his "friends list" for such a long time, that having a best friend and needing to not fight is something he... is getting used to.

so a rather guilty looking and sheepish apollo walks up to nazuna, hand rubbing his neck as h stares at the very interesting floor and... tries.) Um... April 18th. That's my birthday. I never really had people to tell it to, so I just didn't...

(he's rambling again, and he knows it, so he sighs and barely looks nazuna in the eye.) Sorry.

[pronounces]

[ that was a thing that happened, huh. vaguely uncomfortable but mostly just annoyed and embarrassed instead of as angry as he'd been at leo earlier, nazuna's just fine keeping to himself for the rest of this event. he's sitting down on the edge of the stage at the moment, kicking his legs idly, and when apollo comes up to him, nazuna tilts his head, a bit confused.

the information surprises him, and he blinks, then, slowly, he smiles. it's not massive, but he offers it anyway, feeling a burst of warmth for the person he calls his closest friend. ] I think that's the only thing I could mad about, that you didn't tell me.

[ it's soft, very playful, and he pats the spot next to him up on the stage. ] ...that was pretty ridiculous, huh?

(that was most certainly A Thing That Happened, and apollo is still trying to process the entire evening. what started out as an idea to simply get kuro and nazuna on a date certainly devolved into an actual nightmare for both of them.

and he's left $300 out of his emergency fund and nazuna didn't even get a fucking date with kuro.

apollo genuinely thought nazuna would be far more cross with him, setting him up on this date auction and only telling him after the fact. but then nazuna got his revenge, so turnabout is fairplay. everyone's happy. or not.) I mean it's just another day to me. I never really do anything for my birthday.

(it was never worth celebrating he thinks but definitely does not say.

he lets out a long tired sigh, plopping down next to him, even his hair spikes deflating.) I know you don't like me swearing, but honestly, what the fuck was that?

[ the last statement just makes nazuna laugh, a half hysterical giggle. honestly, what else can you do but laugh at that situation? two thousand dollars is an absurd amount of money, more than nazuna makes in a paycheck. ]

At least it was for charity...that's the only saving grace. [ there is that. he laughs again, reaching over to nudge his shoulder against apollo's. ] How does it feel to be one of the most eligible bachelors in Recolle?

[ at least they can suffer together. ]

(even apollo can't help but laugh just a little, a quiet chuckle at seeing nazuna laugh so openly and freely despite all of. this. a small fortune was spent to get them all dates, and apollo still can't even process that amount of money being thrown about so easily.

a little terrifying, but at least most of it wasn't his money.

(fuckin leo tho)) I think we're just saying that to ourselves to lessen the blow of $3000 being dropped between us.

(even apollo joins in the banter, nudging nazuna's shoulder back as he laughs under his breath at the complete bullshit he's going through.) Honestly, shitty, because none of it is even romantic. Akira's got a boyfriend, after all, so I still don't even get why I'm part of this.

[pronounces]

[ complete bullshit is a pretty apt description, even if it's not one nazuna would use. he giggles when apollo nudges him, the laugh just a little hysterical. what else can you even do but find this funny? ]

Mine isn't either, don't worry. [ he leans in, conspiratorial, covering his mouth with his hand to whisper in apollo's ear instead, to share the hot gossip. ] I think Leochin and Miaichin used to date, and they were just flirting with each other. I got stuck in the middle.

[ and then pulling back, playful and smiling. ] So, really, all we did was raise money for charity, I guess~

(at this point, they really have nothing left to do but laugh at the absurdity of it. stressing over it at this point won't do anything but give them gray hair.) So both of our dates are going to give us absolutely nothing in the long run. Good to know.

(they both got a little stuck in the middle on their respective dates, and both dates are most likely too broke to even plan an actual date. he leans back on his hands with a sigh, shaking his head in disbelief.) Well shit, my plan sure backfired horribly on me, then.

[pronounces]

You went into this with a plan? [ a little incredulous, but, if nazuna thinks back to the actual auction itself (he'd rather not) it makes sense. apollo did kind of appear in the middle, didn't he, and-- ]

Apochin! [ he slaps his arm, too, though it's not hard. scandalized!!!! ] You did not!

Ow! (except that didn't actually hurt because, surprise, both apollo and nazuna have tiny, ineffective fists for punching or doing any sort of damage.

apollo is just a big fuckin weenie. he's rubbing his arm with a pout on his face, mumbling under his breath, but still loud enough to hear.) Kuro was supposed to ask you out.

[pronounces]

Meddler...!! [ it's accusatory, but not meanly so. because of course he's meddling just a little. nazuna still regrets letting apollo know anything about this whole kuro thing, but... it's a sweet, that he cares so much.

even if it's embarrassing ] Even if he did, it's not like it's a real date, you know!

I'm a good meddler... (it's grumbled out sarcastically, a pout on his face as he looks away. but not in shame, it's more... childish petulance.

but it's definitely more embarrassing on nazuna's end.) Oh, please, with the chemistry between you two, it would've been a real date.

[pronounces]

[ apollo please... he gives him a look that screams "can we please stop talking about this", then huffs, folding his arms. he's not going to fight this fight--he thinks apollo is crazy--because he's learned in the past, it's not really worth it. ]

Well, that's not how it worked out, is it? [ well...that was kind of mean. he sighs, dropping his arms again. ] ...sorry. It's just--[ mmnmMM. ] ...I'm glad that you care so much. I appreciate it, I promise.

but he's hardly offended by nazuna's words, instead blowing out a childish raspberry.) Yeah, no kidding. I didn't expect that one weirdo to propose a threesome in a church. Then Leo made off with 300 bucks of mine that should've been Kuro's.

(apollo justice: worst matchmaker.) Ugh. (now he's just collapsing back on the stage.) There goes my emergency fund.
