[ For the sake of this prompt working, we're going to pretend either Junes or Freshens has a small food court area since a handful of big grocery stores do. Akira is merely enjoying his meal at one of the tables, checking through his phone at the tasks at hand. Overall, nondescript. Unassuming. Harmless. Look at him? He looks like a nerd?tribunal terrace:
Shifting his glasses up the bridge of his nose, a bright glint shines across the lenses... As if he has an idea. If you even a blink, you'll find a plate of spaghetti flying straight at your face. This is the first move—it's a call for war. ]

[ !! Willing to play off any mystery created by others or create random ones. Just mention it in your comment if you want an RNG mystery.wildcard
Guess what mystery it is today? Akira is investigating this abandoned place of worship. While all the establishments in this section of Tribunal Terrace is pristine and taken care of well, they've left this relic somewhere in the corner. It's hard to discern what background this building has and records say it was used for a number of religions, hence the odd array of decor inside. There are warning signs in the front (KEEP OUT), some mention that it'll be restored or torn down, but it waits there...
With some of the sky painted, it's actually dark, blanketing the are in pitch black. Even when Akira raises his flashlight, what they find are outlines of the worn down building. ]
I heard that people died here, some possibly related cult activity. [ He scrolls through his phone, picking up the rumor and mystery here. ] This forum says that sometimes you can hear cries here at night, something between man and beast.
[ Yes. They're going to unveil this mystery and figure what the hell this is or die. Whichever comes first. ]
[ Hit me with anything!! Even gen things. It's important to note that Akira is shaken by the disappearances of NPCs, but he's doing his best to keep it together and be reliable. On some days he'll naturally withdraw and keep to himself. ]

They aren't close, and that's why she wants to think he doesn't know the person she has a crush on. In her mind, that will make this a little less embarrassing for her. A little meaning about a hair's width. She also wants to follow through with the idea he gave her.
Chiyo pulls out three things: a mason jar with a folded paper crane inside, a separate second paper crane, and a piece of paper. ]
If you want to open the jar, I'd suggest not doing it around your cats because there's some glitter in there. [ See? She remembered to make it cat friendly-ish. The paper crane in the jar holds a copy of Elizabeth's post about Akira, only instead of sparkletext, Chiyo substituted glitter.) ] But, um, as for the rest, Elizabeth told me I had to write a poem about my crush and then post it on Retrospec. I, um, don't know if I have enough courage to do that, but one of the things we can do for the city... is to write poem and show it to someone. Are you okay with reading my bad poetry?
[ Her smile is sheepish. ]

Blinking once, twice, he's suspicious of the jar, but the folded cranes pique his interests anyway. Nodding, he makes note of the glitter instead of being completely suspicious of why there are so many cranes. Betrayal can wait later. ]
Sure. It can't be as bad as the one I wrote for Janet for bingo.
[ While she steels herself, Akira just nudges the bag forward. In it is just an assortment of cat-themed treats made with care! Some... Of the cookies might even sparkle (thanks, Elliot). ]

I think it can be wo—
[ Chiyo is easily distracted by the bag. What is showing off her crush in poetry form when there's a bag of treats? ]
Is this for me? Thank you! [ She looks inside. ] Oh, my gosh, are some of these the magical food I see advertised on Retrospec from time to time?
[ Yeah, she's delaying showing off her bad poetry. ]

He's still sad over it, but is glad that his friend could live... A peaceful life with his boyfriend, however that is. However, he isn't losing hope that maybe one day they'll return.
Akira is ready to hear her poem, but ah. Mm. Maybe he should have kept the bag till later. ]
Yeah. Elliot is my roommate. I'd recommend eating the cookies when you're tired, but they don't stay fresh forever.
[ There. He has spared her long enough. Stroking his chin, he peers down at her. It's time. ]
Are you ready?

[ She gulps but turns the paper around to show her the poem she wrote. Handwritten with a lot scratches and scribbles.
Every time I look at you my heart skips a beat
Talking to you normally is sometimes a feat
I don't mind if there's no day you'll ever know
Because just being with you makes me glow.
I just want to say that our friendship is true
And even if sometimes I want to give you a clue
I won't because I want you to be happy
And I don't think that makes me sappy.
She ran out of rhyming steam at the end. Chiyo is also impossibly red, if Akira decides he can look at her after reading that embarrassing but simple poem. ]
no subject
But then he frowns towards the end. ]
... You're okay with that?
[ HELLO? WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?? ]
no subject
E-Eh? I didn't know how else to end it? Was it that bad?
[ She thinks he means the poem itself and not what the poem's about. ]
no subject
... No, it wasn't bad. It's just sad.
[ And he thinks that's worse than being a bad poem, especially when it might be sent to their crush. ]

[ Her smile is small but sheepish.
She's had "hypothetical talks" with multiple people but has come to same conclusion at the end of each one. ]

What's natural about keeping your feelings a secret?
no subject
It's not. [ She admits that softly. ] It all bubbles to the surface before I can stop it. I like him. I really, really like him. I think he's one of the greatest friends anyone can have. I'm a bad liar, but...
I'm also a coward.
no subject
He might like you, too. You won't know until you give it a chance.
[ Chiyo seems like a sweet girl? He can't see how someone doesn't like her. ]
no subject
We're friends. He told me he has a crush on someone else. He... um, he asked me to help him practice his confession.
no subject
He's blinking very slowly because this shit came straight out of a manga, didn't it? ]
I think he likes you.
[ He has no fucking doubts now. If only he has coffee to sip. ]
no subject
Wh-Why would you say that?
[ Don't get her hopes up?? Her hopes can only go up.
She flaps a hand. ]
There's no way.
