[ For the sake of this prompt working, we're going to pretend either Junes or Freshens has a small food court area since a handful of big grocery stores do. Akira is merely enjoying his meal at one of the tables, checking through his phone at the tasks at hand. Overall, nondescript. Unassuming. Harmless. Look at him? He looks like a nerd?tribunal terrace:
Shifting his glasses up the bridge of his nose, a bright glint shines across the lenses... As if he has an idea. If you even a blink, you'll find a plate of spaghetti flying straight at your face. This is the first move—it's a call for war. ]

[ !! Willing to play off any mystery created by others or create random ones. Just mention it in your comment if you want an RNG mystery.wildcard
Guess what mystery it is today? Akira is investigating this abandoned place of worship. While all the establishments in this section of Tribunal Terrace is pristine and taken care of well, they've left this relic somewhere in the corner. It's hard to discern what background this building has and records say it was used for a number of religions, hence the odd array of decor inside. There are warning signs in the front (KEEP OUT), some mention that it'll be restored or torn down, but it waits there...
With some of the sky painted, it's actually dark, blanketing the are in pitch black. Even when Akira raises his flashlight, what they find are outlines of the worn down building. ]
I heard that people died here, some possibly related cult activity. [ He scrolls through his phone, picking up the rumor and mystery here. ] This forum says that sometimes you can hear cries here at night, something between man and beast.
[ Yes. They're going to unveil this mystery and figure what the hell this is or die. Whichever comes first. ]
[ Hit me with anything!! Even gen things. It's important to note that Akira is shaken by the disappearances of NPCs, but he's doing his best to keep it together and be reliable. On some days he'll naturally withdraw and keep to himself. ]

Akira quickly paints over the entrance and a bit of the fallen building, manifesting it in a deep red and in clear sight now. ]
No. Something like that would be difficult for any person to pinpoint.
[ Man between beast—is it possible to parse that? As he holds his own flashlight, he opens the door though he had to use a lot of force. The dust scatters. ]
I want to guess it's a cat yowling.

When the way was clear, Amelia stepped forwards first, now bringing out her flashlight to illuminate the ruin's corners.]
Perhaps it is similar to how Magnus turned from a wolf into a man, simply a different species.

[ It really brings him back to February, but it isn’t time to reminisce the intense month where people suffered through trauma in a snowy place... The upside is that he got to pet a wolf. When she prattles in, Akira follows after her, but makes sure the door stays on open. If they need to run, their escape route should be clear. ]
I hope it’s as cute as Magnus.
[ Even if the wolf, when corrupted, was a terrifying force that could haunt their nightmares. Akira also shines light on areas where Amelia isn’t, trying to get a hold of the place. The torn building is decorated with old stained glass windows, or what looks to be the case by the outlines, a pew here and there, and many patches of untouched white space. They’ll need to paint some of it in if they want a better look. It would also help if they knew what was what. There seems to be some statue, doll, whatever, in a corner where only a portion of their head is visible. Its soulless, empty eye merely looks forward. ]

...Magnus. Cute.
[She could be biased because he tried to kill her before that whole corruption thing was taken care of.
Anyway. Dark green paint soon joined the red, like some somber Christmas decoration. It was easier to see the walls now, the roof that had seen better days, the rubble tumbled in corners. The older woman continued to frown slightly as she swept over to the odd statue, to better look at it.]

[ Akira has seen some demonic wolves from the deepest circle of hell thanks to Magnus, so his opinion would still stand, either way. Not that... He would let Magnus kill him. Green and red make a rather—no, the dark green only lightens up in color when they mix.
When a good portion is painted, the statue is a limbless women. The pews are toppled over here and there while the altar stands in the front. There's other decor from other cultures, but what's ominous is this stain that's darker on the floor in the center. ]

Amelia would have crossed her arms, but with a flashlight in one hand and a still-damp paintbrush in the other that seemed unwise. She tapped a foot instead, to get Akira's attention.]
Hm.
[A statue that could have been an off-brand Venus de Milo--a potentially known quantity, though an...odd choice for a church. Of more concern was that stain. Amelia scuffed the toe of her shoe through its edge before painting it, to get a better gauge of its true color.]
no subject
Is it calling to you?
[ He paints it over—instead of a porcelain white, it becomes a dark green. Does that make it worse? ]
no subject
[Another scuff at the stain.]
I wonder where the arms went.

Examining them shows the jagged ridges, showing that they were broken off. ]
Maybe it's somewhere around here? I think there's a room behind the chancel.
no subject
[That seemed like an odd place to put such a room; inconvenient to access during service or discretely when there were any people in the building. Unless it was supposed to be for secrets.
If it existed, anyway. The older woman turned her flashlight towards the chancel, initially seeing nothing more than she had when they both walked in.]
Show me.

It's jammed.
[ Not locked, but just jammed. ]

She glanced speculatively up at the ceiling when she got there.]
I'll open it.
[The ceiling was far enough away that a twenty foot lizard could fit in here, so long as she didn't stand on her toes. The older woman's form burned away into white light, growing taller, spiny, and inhuman. And her horns did scrape something on the way up, which made Amelia curl her head and neck downwards. But that was fine. Easier to see what she was doing.
The dragon set her claws into the cracks of the door, and pulled. Not too hard, just enough to make it pop and creak and get some terrifyingly large scratches in the paint. But the door was open now!
Overkill? Probably. Enjoyable? Definitely. A crowbar wasn't nearly as satisfying.]
no subject
That was cool.
[ He had to add that in, yes. But as his applause softens, something lets out a scream inside the room. It’s shrill and heart-wrenching, as if it’s dying. ]
no subject
At the scream, though, Amelia snapped right back to business. Leaning down, the dragon stuck her face and hear through the door as far as she could, staring in each corner where she could. This form had good eyesight, but she couldn't see in the dark and she certainly couldn't fit through the door this way.]
no subject
There is this odd ball in the corner that shakes, but they can only see slight ripples as if it's a heat wave. It may need some painting. ]
See anything suspicious?
[ IT SCREECHES SO LOUD AGAIN. ]
no subject
Amelia pulled her head back, a few of her spines snagging on the doorway, to give Akira more access. In lieu of speaking, the dragon pointed through the door at the offending corner, tailtip swishing like a mildly irritated cat's.]
