Hmm...how am I supposed to do this without ruining your Evoker?

[It's a question asked to the air. You might find Minako walking her silver Shiba Inu on the streets, looking at some Bluetooth devices on her phone's browser-- or maybe she's in the electronics store, browsing the shelves. Either way, Koromaru is patiently walking beside her, making sure his Leader doesn't trip or bang her head on something as she muses to herself.]

Maybe I should just experiment. If I break your collar beyond repair, thanks to Retrospec it'll come back brand new...probably.

[Koromaru gives an agreeing bark.]

Okay, let's do that then. [And noticing someone near her, she waves them down.] Hey there! Question for you! What brand would you recommend for a Bluetooth device?

It depends on how high-tech. If it's too far beyond current Earth technology or operates on magic then it will be more like brain surgery than just incorporating a new device. I wouldn't be able to guarantee the outcome then.

Does it need to be embedded or can it just be clipped on the front? Pendant, thin crescent if you want to keep a flat profile?

I'd prefer that it not be clipped on since he might easily lose it that way. He's very active

Depending on how big he is, how the collar is designed and what it's made of, and how much additional weight he can tolerate, I can probably make it work.

[Minako heads into the appointed place later that week, a silver shiba inu with eyes as red as hers trotting at her heels. He's wearing a shiny silver collar that almost look like they could be headphones, if he weren't wearing them backwards.]

Hello? Cloud?

[Cloud's workshop is a large utility basement of an apartment complex converted into a cross between a car mechanic's workspace and some kind of crazy inventor's laboratory. Every surface is completely filled in with paint splatters of at least fifty different colors. He looks up, then drops his tools and hops off the workbench stool.]

Minako, hi!

[He crouched down to grin at the dog.]

That's a really nice outfit you've got there, buddy! What's your name?

[Minako offers a wave, while Koromaru trots over and offers his paw for a shake. He wags his tail and gives Cloud a bright puppy grin.]

His name is Koromaru. Or Korochan for short. And he's excited to see if you can get a phone into his collar.

[Cloud had managed to offend not one, but two, deities by trying to communicate with them by addressing their human summoner. Until one of them tells him different he's going to speak directly to the dog. He takes the offered paw.]

Nice to meet you, Koromaru! I have a few different ideas. This space...

[He carefully traces a gloved fingertip through the long thin empty area between the two bands on the front.]

What if I made something that fit here? Do you think that would work?

[And he is very free to continue to speak to the dog. Minako will be the translator...for all the parts that Koromaru shows interest in, at least. He knows he's getting a present from his human, but the hows of it are of little importance to him, as long as he knows how to use it after it's all done.

All Koromaru does in answer to Cloud's question is tilt his head and swivel his ears. Minako, on the other hand, kneels and leans in to see where Cloud is pointing, inspecting with a critical eye.]

It probably would, we'd just have to crack it open to see where it'd fit best.

Possibly not even that, if I can get the mechanism to just slot into the space. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. What's this device called, anyway?

[Cloud reaches out to rub behind Koromaru's ears.]

You're such a patient doggie, letting me touch your collar! I know it's very important to you and Minako so I promise to be extra careful with it!

An Evoker. Koromaru's is specially made.

[Because 'normal' Evokers look like guns.

The puppy perks back up, his tail wagging vigorously under the attention. He yips and gives Cloud his patent doggy grin.]

You can take it off of him if you need a closer look, it's not attached to his life force or anything like that.

An "Evoker?"

[Cloud's eyes went wide in recognition. He turned away from the dog to focus on Minako for a few seconds, then back to Koromaru.]

You can transform into really cool and powerful legendary creatures?

You're a little off. [She arches an eyebrow at him.] But you've heard of it before? Who told you about it?

I met a guy who could summon a big dragon with his. I made the dragon a harness with paint tanks and a refueling station for misting the city from the sky. They managed to put a solid foundation of color in A LOT of the residential areas on the southwest side of town. Anything there that's outlined in a sort of a muddy navy blue spray-paint design is his work.

[Cloud is way too happy to talk about the fun things he invented to aid the Coalition painting project, but that's just the kind of geek he is.]

... But he had an "Evoker." It wasn't worn by an extra-smart dog, though.

Oh. Then you were probably talking with my brother, Minato. He's the only other person on Retrospec who has the non-puppy version of the Evoker like me.
