[ Charlotte is quick to seal her plans with her new date, searching her closet for the perfect dress to wear. It has to be one that makes her look poppin', but is still okay to get some paint on, and also invites just enough attention but nothing too risque. Once she's satisfied with her selection, she curls her hair and affixes her telltale bow in before she heads out the door, paintbrush in tow.

She doesn't know much about her date, aside from the fact he's an artist, and he models sometimes. Bless Jirou for showing her those pictures before. Now she knows who to look for as she casually paints her way to where she thinks is just the right spot to meet. She might be a little off, but she's at least in the general vicinity? It shouldn't be difficult to see each other if they're on the lookout.

While she waits, she throws blue paint on nearby fixtures, trying to get a bit more of the area uncovered so they can see where they're going. She's presently painting a lamp post when she thinks she spots her date. ]

Yoohoo! Over here!

-Kasen was grateful that so many had taken to the painting task so robustly. It made it just a little less daunting to navigate downtown. But even so, he was just as grateful to finally hear Charlotte's voice over the usual bustle of the city at mid-day. It didn't take long to spot her... she really was quite lovely, wasn't she? And he offered her a wave in turn, his own purple brush streaking in the sky.-

How elegant... You look lovely, birthday girl.

[ Charlotte has the good graces to blush at the compliment, waiting until they were next to one another to speak up again. ] Thank you sooo much! [ She mentally high fives herself for an outfit well chosen, and then eyes his paintbrush. ]

Let's get to painting, shall we? You'll have to lead the way. I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

There's a trick to it, really. -Kasen twirled his brush between his fingers in a flourish, but taking care not to flick any stray paint her way.-

A seemingly careless splashing can actually reveal quite a bit...

[convincing]

Oh, really? [ She's an attentive listener, watching him flick the brush. Yeah, that's not how she was doing it at all, and it seemed to be taking her forever! ]

That's amazing! Let me give it a try. [ She looks at his hand how he's holding the brush again and mimics it, giving it a flick similar to what he did, if not a bit less elegant. ]

-Elegant or not, the spray of smaller droplets was creating a more clear image of the space around them, at least in terms of depth and where things were in relation to each other.-

[convincing]

[ Charlotte hums a little as she follows suit and helps him paint the area, looking on with approval once the image becomes clearer and clearer. She's starting to recognize the place a little better. ]

Alright! We're getting somewhere now!

And such a lovely image, as well. I think our colors blend well together. -Kasen chuckled, sending out more broad strokes of paint after a moment.-

[convincing]

They really do! Not a bad thing at all, I'd say. [ She smiles and follows suit, adding more blue paint to the scenery. ]

And this is definitely more fun when you're not alone, tee hee.

I can only agree. This whole city is currently a collaborative portrait of ourselves. Abstract, perhaps, but still a reflection of us. It's beautiful, in its own way, despite apparently being a mistake.

[convincing]

...Huh. [ She pauses for a moment. ] I never thought about it that way. That's actually pretty neat!

As an artist, I strive to look at things from various perspectives. It's... helped. A lot. To survive the madness of living with Retrospec, to be honest.

[convincing]

Oh, yeah. That. I bet it has helped! I haven't found anything yet, but nothing has been too terrible. Just... a bit lousy. [ She nods, studying her painting for a moment as she'd rather think about that than her crummy memories. ]

I'm afraid things don't grow any more pleasant from here... -A sigh.- However, moments like these can be nice.

Well that's reassuring. [ She deflates a little, but continues painting.] At least they give us any moments at all. This could be a lot worse!

I'd rather not think of worse. Especially not for what is supposed to be a birthday date, right?

[convincing]

Right! So let's make this fun! [ she laughs and flings some more paint at their surroundings. ] Thanks for taking me out, by the way!

-And a dashing here and there from Kasen's brush, finally nearing the bistro.-

It seemed like you needed it... And Jirou spoke highly of you, as well. -Might as well address that elephant.-

[convincing]

Yeah... [ Because it would be totally embarrassing not to have a date on her birthday. ]

And did he? That's so sweet! I'm glad. I don't normally answer ads like that, but something told me to go for it this time!

I'm glad you did, either way. I can't just whittle my life away in solitude. Making new friends can only help with my recent frustrations... At least I hope.

[convincing]

Totally! It's no good to be alone. [ she smiles. ] I'm sure it will totally do you good.

It's done well so far. -A softer smile, he set his brush aside and reached to open the door to the bistro for her. How fortunate they were that the inside of the building didn't need any painting at all...-

[convincing]

It has, hasn't it? [ She smiles and puts her brush aside as well, nodding her thanks as she steps in before him and kind of looks around the place. It seems to meet her approval! And she's glad they don't have to do much painting here too. ]

If I'm not mistaken, I think this means a Retrospec user either owns or works at this bistro. Same as how the inside of my studio didn't need to be decorated.

[convincing]

Well, that's a relief! We don't have to spend the entire time trying to paint everything back in order.

Or at the very least, we can read the menu. -Kasen chuckled, pulling out a chair for her as they found a table.-

[convincing]

Ha, you're right! Always a good thing. I'd say you chose a good place, then. [ She sits down and picks up one of the menus in question, looking over it. ]

If you don't mind a suggestion, the salmon panini paired with the tomato bisque is excellent. And I'll get us some wine, too.

[convincing]

Oh, really? That sounds delicious! I think I'll give it a try. And I do love a good wine.
