[ Yugi was typing on his computer, looking over the applications that he had so far, making sure he had everything in order. He had to admit, he was a little nervous. He had never really interviewed anyone before, but he had done research of what to ask! Plus, he had worked at this shop for a long time, so he knew what they needed...it was just a little nerve wracking speaking to some people who he hadn't met fully before.

Well, it'd be a good experience, for everyone!

When someone walks into the store, they will notice that he has a small area set up in the front corner with applications and a clipboard, a small laptop next to him. He seems prepared and whenever someone comes up to him, he's greeting them with a warm smile.

It looks like the shop is still open, so shopping is an option too! ]

[ Were this any other day, Bakhura would have been there to shop. But between being broke and the prospects of no longer having to walk into this shop broke, he strides up to Yugi's corner with his hands in his pockets, ready to get down to business. Truthfully, though, he's nervous. He's never had a job interview before, in large part because he's never thought that anyone would even humor the idea of hiring him with his track record, and even now, despite being one of the shop's loyal customers, he's still doubtful of his prospects.

Still, it would be somewhere to go during the summer - somewhere he already spends a lot of time at anyway - and it would bring him some much needed pocket change. So while he's not in a suit, he's still dressed a little nicer than he usually would be - a nice polo shirt and pants instead of his usual goth garb. Is that how you do it??? It's just a game shop, and one that he's pretty familiar with, at that. ]

...hey. Told you I'd be here.

[ Yugi's smile is brighter and a little less nervous when Bakhura walks up. ]

I never doubted you! Have a seat! Did you fill out the application on the shop's website or would you like to fill out one here?

[hauhra]

Yeah, well, you're probably one of the first.

[ Bakhura's not sure why, either. However, he's speaking to Yugi as a potential employee and not as a customer or even as another Retrospec user, and if he wants to impress him he'll have to leave those thoughts at the door.

Besides, he's grown tired of unloading his Tragic Backstory on people in recent months even though talking about it has been helping him come to terms with it, and he'd rather not relive those experiences again, least of all during a job interview. He needs to be thinking about his future instead of his past.

He pulls the chair out, making himself comfortable as he plops into it. ]

...online. [ His handwriting is... not the greatest so it seemed like the safest option. ] Printed it, too, if you want a copy.

[gandora]

That's okay! I can pull it up! [ Yugi immediately did so, taking a few minutes to read over it. ]

So...my first question is what shift would you prefer? We are usually open 10am-9pm during the school year, but during the summer, we are open 10am to 10pm.

[hauhra]

[ Bakhura grits his teeth. Had he known that, he wouldn't have wasted his time going to the library to print it himself - but no matter. He's got to behave himself here, even if that means swallowing his pride. He needs this job, and if he wants it, he'll follow his therapist's advice. ]

A daytime shift.

[ That's probably a popular shift though, right? ]

I can work nights if more hands are needed, too, though... and weekends.

[ Yugi nodded as he kept reading over he application. He moved away from the computer and wrote that down. ]

Well, the good thing is I usually handle evenings to be able to close everything up. I'm usually here all day, but having someone here during certain times will help me out!

Next question, which I'm sure will be something I already know about you, but what is your game-related knowledge? Do you have a preference?

I've been playing in tabletop groups since I was 12. Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder are my specialties, though I'm interested in learning more about other tabletop games as well. I'm also well-versed in a number of trading card games, and while I haven't really had the opportunity to play at the tournament level for a variety of reasons, Magic: The Gathering and Duel Monsters are a few of my favorites.

My previous self seemed to be pretty good at Duel Monsters as well.

[ Even if a lot of his memories are of said self losing a game of Duel Monsters, but look. ]

[ Previous self? Strange. Someone else mentioned that as well. He would have to remember the other saying that. ]

So, if we had a small tournament here for Duel Monsters, would you be interested in helping run it?

[redarm]

[ At least Noah had the foresight to leave early. His sense of direction was terrible before the world became some painted wonderland, now he can't get anywhere without getting lost three times beforehand.

But eventually he does make it to the store. He's dressed up fine for an interview, semi-casual with darker colors. Despite the warming weather, he's got long sleeves and gloves on- which is probably weird. Same with the big scar on his face, that's also pretty weird.

He'll walk up to the desk though.]

Hi. I'm here for the job opening?

[ Yugi smiled happily, he didn't seem bothered by the scars. All types had come into the game store, so he had seem pretty weird stuff. ]

Hi! I'm Yugi Mutou, did I speak to you online?

[ He offers his hand as he stands up. ]

[redarm]

Yeah you did.

[He'll reach over to take his hand]

I'm Noah Campbell. Nice to meet you.

It's nice to meet you, Mr. Campbell! [ Yugi shakes it before letting go and waving to the seat. ]

Please! Have a seat! Did you fill out the application online or would you like to fill out one here?

[redarm]

[A quick shake! He lets go and moves to sit down at the indicated spot]

I filled out the application online? Though if you need me to fill out the paper one, I can.

[gandora]

[ Yugi shook his head and started to look up the application online. ]

Not at all, I can look it up!

[ A pause as he read over it. ]

What is your work history like? Any particular strengths that you have?

[redarm]

Okay.

[Easier for him then]

I've worked part time at the Confectionary bakery for the past year, and then I did odd jobs back in the UK. [Strengths...] I work hard, I'm strong so stocking things won't be a problem, and I learn things fast.

[gandora]

Great! That'll help a lot, doing the stocking and managing the money is a little hard to keep up with when I'm alone. The store is usually open 10am to 10pm during the summer months...do you have a preference of what time you'd like to work?

[ Yugi was writing the other things Noah said down. ]

[redarm]

[He gives a nod at that. Yeah, all that sounds like stuff he could handle]

Sure I can do those things just fine. [As for time...] I'm open to when you need me, but I usually like afternoons.

[gandora]

[ Yugi nodded and put his pen down. ]

Now, another question, what kind of game knowledge do you have?

[redarm]

I play a lot of PC games, mostly single player stuff. My favourite's Don't Starve but I've tried a lot of others.

Consoles games I'm less familiar with but I'm learning.

[Mostly because he didn't have two hands until retrospec gave him a second one. But he rather not...mention that bit in a job interview. ]

[gandora]

[ Yugi nods. ]

A lot of what we sell is board games, but we have a few video and PC games as well. I have been trying to get into that genre for awhile, but Grandpa can be a little stubborn.

[redarm]

[Oh welp]

Oh, right.

[..]

I don't know much about board games. It was just me and my dad growing up, so there was never enough people to play them.

But I do know how to play cards?

[long_live_the_queen]

[Lucy hated job hunting. Filling out application after application only for some problem to come up, for her background checks to turn up...a bit of a lot, to not even get the time of day let alone a call back. She was an efficient worker, quiet, handy at moving things, just some...emotional volatility.

This time, though, she actually got to talk to a real person! Even if it was on Retrospec. Which actually was probably a good thing, since he'd be more understanding of Retrospec-caused inconveniences.

Lucy stepped into the store, an oddly lavender knit hat pulled down low over her pink hair. She didn't take off the hat, and her sharp gaze slid over to Yugi immediately.]

Are you Mutou?

[Her voice was a slow contralto grumble, and she stopped just inside the doorway like she was going to turn around and leave if she was mistaken. His face looked pretty much like the Retrospec ID picture, though.]

[gandora]

[ Yugi still gave her a smile, but this time gentle. He knew that she wasn't keen on speaking a whole lot. ]

I am. You are the person I spoke to online, right? Lucy?

[long_live_the_queen]

Yes.

[Lucy stepped away from the door, hovering by the table but not sitting.

...she didn't know if she was supposed to. He seemed friendly, but she didn't know if he was going to dismiss her.]

[gandora]

[ Yugi moved an open hand towards the chair ]

Please, have a seat.

[long_live_the_queen]

[That moment of awkwardness gone, Lucy sat down as requested. There was another slightly awkward pause before she spoke, though.]

Did you get my application?

[She was still bracing herself for the "sorry, you're not going to fit here" disappointment.]

[gandora]

[ Yugi pulls it open and looks at it. ]

So we have orders come in three days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Friday. I would need you to come in around 8am and work to about 10am when the store opens. Would that be okay?

[long_live_the_queen]

[A blink, then another. That...wasn't the question Lucy was expecting. She almost forgot to answer.]

Uh--yeah, that's fine.

[No "why were you fired from your last two jobs," no "what was your problem at your previous workplace"?]

[gandora]

[ Yugi nodded and continued to look at the application. ]

So...you stated that you have a problem with speaking to other people, has that effected your other jobs?

[ He's trying to ask without accusing, given that he didn't want to upset her. After all, this was supposed to be positive! ]

[long_live_the_queen]

[Ah, there it was. Her expression settled back down from quietly bewildered to blank.]

...yeah. Don't get along sometimes.

[*Most of the time.]

[gandora]

That's alright. So in the case that I had to have you stay a little later and finish up stocking, it's a good idea to allow you to hang out in the back to finish?

I want to make sure that we set you up for success.

[long_live_the_queen]

[And just like that, things stopped seeming so normal again. At least, to Lucy. Someone?? Was being nice to her??]

Uh--that's fine.

[gandora]

[ Yugi kept his gentle smile. ]

Good! When can you start? I only have one stocker position, so I'd like to fill it as quickly as possible.

[ He then blushed a little bit. ]

I...I hope that isn't too forward.

[long_live_the_queen]

Wait, you're...serious?

[Lucy froze, all traces of attempted professionalism dropping from her voice.]

You...don't care about my record...?

[Her heart felt like it'd stopped, and not for any of the usual reasons.]

A persons background is not necessarily...accurate about who they are now in the present. If you were troublesome, I think it'd be obvious in how you responded. Additionally, you probably wouldn't have been looking for a job!

[ Yugi thought for a moment and nodded. ]

Plus, I think you seem like an earnest, genuine person, but you've been placed in situations that you couldn't succeed in.

[long_live_the_queen]

[Lucy stared at him full in the face, blinked, and...broke eye contact, staring at a corner of the desk. She scratched at her cheek, unsure of how to respond. This wasn't what she expected. This was just a small job, but...still.]

I...guess.

[She scratched at her cheek again once more before stopping with a blink, as if she was suddenly aware of what she was doing. Lucy pulled her hand away, tucking it on her lap out of sight.]

I can start as soon as you need me to. I'm...between jobs.

[gandora]

[ Yugi smiled brightly at the response. ]

Then I will see you monday at 8am! We are getting a big order of card packs for the summer releases so I'll see you then to give you some training!

[long_live_the_queen]

[Finally, what Yugi was saying really started to sink in. Lucy jolted a little in her seat, staring at him now.]

You're...really serious?

[Someone's being nice to her, Lucy has bluescreened.

Give her a moment to restart.]

[Just a shopper here! After a nice conversation about games with Bakhura, Shiori has been curious about this place. So on one of his rare days of no homework or writing, he's set on finding the Mutou Game shop.

Except now that he's here he's got no idea what he's looking at or what to look for.

This may have been a mistake coming in here without a set plan.]

[ Yugi can definitely multitask, that's for sure. He's been taking a break on the interviews to help with customers when his grandfather needed a break. He smiles brightly as he walks up. ]

Welcome to the Mutou Game Shop! Are you looking for something in particular?

[missingache]

Huh? Uhm... maybe? [Is this the guy that was talked about?]

Someone name Bahkura on the Retrospec app told me about this place after he told me about tabletop games worked. I dunno if I'm ready for those, so just kinda checking what's here.

[gandora]

Oh! Bahkura is actually one of my regulars. Tabletops are so much fun, but can be complicated if you're just starting to get into them.

We do have a lot of dice games, as well as strategy based card games that may be best, if you're new to this!

[ Yugi smiled, but then held out his hand. ]

I suppose I should have introduced myself first, my name is Yugi Mutou, I am the grandson of the shop owner.

That's a lot of different games...

[Says the guy who pretty much just plays video games. Shiori takes the others hand and gives it a shake.]

Shiori Pu'uwai. Nice to meet you.

Well, I know a lot of different games! Do you normally play anything in particular? Video games or certain board games?

[ Yugi smiles as they shake hands, letting go a moment after. ]

I play video games. Oh, and games on my kindle. Those are all puzzle games, though, like Monument Valley. Video games wise I like RPG's and story driven ones.

[Big fan of "What Remains of Edith Finch".]

Oh! I really like the story driven ones too, but I have to admit, I haven't had the time to play any newers ones since college started. Not as much free time with working and school...

[ Yugi enjoyed talking about games so much, it seems he had forgotten he was working...]
