caught in a street fight

WHO: christan mccartney ( [personal profile] axeswing ) & mia amane ( [personal profile] lifespanned )
WHERE: hollingberry field
WHEN: early may.
WHAT: there's tigers, karen.
WARNINGS: n/a

[ With the initial surprise having long since passed, Christian works diligently to get the color back in their world. Complications arise but he continues to face each obstacle with a beaming smile and unbreakable optimism, the only difference between now and any other day just happens to be the amount of paint he needs to wash off once he gets home; he's not an artist and possibly a little too playful when it comes down to the children curious as to why he and other Retrospec users are capable of painting their world. What's the likelihood of Mia complaining that he's spending too much time playing with them and not focusing?

Soon enough he's back on track and, with their combined colors, they're creating shades of orange on the flowers of a bush within the park. As well as coloring the slides so said children have something to distract themselves, including other things around the playground.

It's then, when she's carefully painting a swing or something, that Christian calls her: ]
Babe? [ And when she turns he "accidentally" dabs a line of paint on her cheek. ] You got a little something on your face.

[ She's trying to be a good person (for once) and help out, but when she feels the feeling of wet paint on her face... she immediately cries out in a whiny voice, smacking his chest with her (tiny) fist in annoyance. ]

Christian!!!! You got paint on me...

[ On her beautiful FACE of all things... these tears that are welling up are 100% real and not just her being overdramatic. If that's how it's going to be, while she's busy pouting, she swipe her own paintbrush across his cheek so at least things are fair, a dark red line coloring his skin. It's what he deserves. ]

There! Now we're even.

[ WHY DO YOU SAY THAT LIKE SHE NEVER HELPS ANYONE!!!!!!

Nonetheless, she's still pouting when he makes his suggestion, glossy lips pursed. She doesn't get embarrassed by things like this like he does, in fact, she's probably the grossest, most touchy-feely girlfriend in existence. Any chance to have PDA is something she leaps for, so she thinks it over for a second while looking away. ]

Fine! But only because I wanna stop painting. My hands are tired...

[ Honestly, she gets tired doing the most minimal physical activity, so it's not surprising that she wants to take a break anyway. She rubs off as much remaining paint on her brush as she can on the slide before looking around for whatever bench he's talking about. ]

You're not going to fall asleep on me, are you?

[ She lets him lead her around to the bench, slowly letting go of her aggravation. If it was anyone else, no doubt she would throw a full fledged tantrum, but... it's Christian, so she can't stay mad for very long. ]

Do you really think so? Aren't they going to be fine now that they have slides and stuff...

[ While the other was a natural at taking care of kids, Mia's skills in the childcare department were certainly lacking. Unlike him, she didn't really have a strong feeling either way towards children, finding them equally cute but also equally annoying and gross. So, she just sits down with a sigh, watching the little kids run around rather than watch him directly. ]

Aren't their parents going to pick them up soon, anyway?

[ Oh this is actually kind of nice ---

But then he's just jumping up and running off, faster than she can even really process it. She barely notices the tigers at first because she's too focused on the fact that he just jumped up out of nowhere, but his shout calls her back to reality. ]

What? Wait - come back!!

[ SHE'S NOT PREPARED TO DEAL WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS? You cannot just tell her to protect children from a tiger Christian!!! What does he expect to do, fight it off with his bare fists? It was one thing knowing that the other jumps headfirst into danger everyday at work, but seeing it in front of her is a whole other ball park.

Despite the fact that the other told her to do something, she doesn't feel like she can even move, and just ends up standing there, frozen in place. Especially as soon as she sees that other tiger??? Hello??? Without speaking, at least she tries to beckon the kids her way... you know...tries to. ]
