With six of you it shouldn't be a problem…hopefully the ocean's been repainted by now or I can't send you anywhere. Or actually I guess I can treat you guys like a loot drop? That might work.

Anyway, I need you to find something for me. And rebuild some things. And maaaaybe take care of some minor problems. Up to the challenge? Let me send you coordinates.

The ocean will be wet but without the structure being repainted they will not sink or drown. They will feel as though they are in the water though and have to navigate their way toward the shore.

[ Akira wasn't sure what he was expecting when Zee contacted them, but they did sure get beamed up like they were on some sci-fi movie... For a second, he wonders if this is what the armed fish felt like when he asked Zee to send it to Minato back in February.

He feels...

Dizzy and a tad nauseous, but moves a bit only to realize how strange it feels. It's as if they retain some sense of buoyancy even if he doesn't see any body of water anywhere. Not only that, he feels wet and it's low key gross. Crossing his arms in front of him, he gives himself a moment to recompose himself before turning over to his group of friends. ]

Hey, are you guys all right?

[ Does everyone have all their body parts? ]

[Elliot's nearby, holding onto his staff that has his paint brush duct-taped to the end of it. He's okay, but from his facial expression, he didn't find it the ideal way to travel either]

Y-Yeah, I'm okay. [this weird feeling of buoyancy though] Think Zee missed the town a little for our landing point though...

[ invisible water: sort of weird but nothing terrorizing— they had a paint obsessed child among their ranks anyway, it wouldn’t be long before they could see it again. in the meantime, eren also recomposes from the sudden trip through the space time dimension into pesgare, look bleak and empty as recollé. he takes a look around to double check on the others, before sounding off. ]

All in one piece. [ by the looks of things!! and also by the looks of things, already getting his paintbrush out, hello y’all better be into green water to figure out where they are: ] At least he tried— We’ll find our way around.

PAINT THE TOWN

Upon reaching the shore the party will receive another text from Zee:

That took a lot of my personal energy, so you'll have to stay for a few days until I can get something arranged to bring you back.

Your first assignment while you're there is to help repaint the landscape of Pesgare. With six of you (and Yusuke's artistic eye) it shouldn't take that long. The villagers are at a loss of what to do without their city and I wish we could have shielded them better but we didn't know what we were up against. Paint the port, repaint the landscape and the lighthouse. You'll know what you're looking for when you see it.

Painting seems to be the key here and while he won't be in contact until later, it's obvious Zee's monitoring them.

After some discussion (and drying off), the group will split into two teams to help cover more ground. Here's hoping you can all work together.

TEAM E.Y.E.

(that is painters). the lighthouse was in dire need of return, and luckily— eren had a tool other then turning huge to get up there, and that was the bulk of human technological advancement at his hips. instead of swords, he carries paints, look at how dangerous this looks. he’s going to paint the shit out of this.

and also you guys if you’re in the way of the first coming. behold: something goes POP mid flight and lime paint explodes everywhere. you’re welcome!!! ]

[Makoto really does feel like she's got a good handle on how this should be approached. They should divide and conquer as much as possible, otherwise they risked going over each other's work again. The only question was which would be best.

So, she starts with the obvious]

Does anyone have any preference on what they'd like to paint?

DOWNTIME

As the group paints the seaside village and brings buildings back to existence, the villagers will be more grateful to them and hospitable to their heroes. They'll provide food and lounging and gifts, all useful things given the party will be staying for a few days. As they continue painting they'll find that the rainy season is still at its tail end and the rain water will help spread the colors out to the sea.

This is a good spot for any interactions you want to have when they aren't doing mission work. Shop at the market, catch up with people not on your team, stay at the inn, go swimming, eat fish- your free time is yours to spend as you see fit. They're going to be stuck here a couple days, so might as well unwind when you have the chance.

[He likes long walks on the beach, and romantic, candlelit dinners... And it's with a flourish he pulls out his blue paint and splatters... black all over the place. Why a blue paintbrush will only paint black at first is the question for the ages, but at least it works. The rain at least spreads it over the beach, but it does cramp his style. He gets a few hours out in the sun, though! Kinda. On what passes for the beach they've painted back, and he kicks at some of the diluted blue-ish water, and has fun walking, barefoot with his pants pulled up, at the edge of the waves he can see, painting more and more as he sees it.]

Ah... I wasn't expecting a beach vacation this early in the year...! [... Or at all. Or involving everything possible disappearing from sight and having to be painted back in.

... Small details, he's actually having some fun out here, the horrifying reality of what's going on notwithstanding. He's fine. He's a resilient kid. He's pretending it doesn't bother him, and it's even working!]

[ Don't worry, Akira follows after Zeke to add red into the mix, leaving a purple trail in their wake, and they're by the shore they barely escaped from. To think they were going to inhale watercolors if it weren't for some quick thinking and shapeshifting.

Instead of joining him, he squats here by the tinted sand... It's not that colorful, seeing that it's mostly blue, some purple, and some teal. ]

... It's better to enjoy it, especially when they're letting us stay for free.

[ He chuckles a bit as he lets his shoulders sink and head hang. ]

Are you doing all right, Zeke? When I invited you to come with us, I wasn't expecting it to be...

[ Colorless? Appearing in the middle of the ocean? Sure, the weirdness of it is expected, but nothing as specific as the world without color and teleportation. ]

[ that was a coarse way to get to pesgare, and an even klutzier way to find out about your teammate’s powers. don’t think he didn’t hear you talking about his titan self back there! he only didn’t poke your back because any inch of wrong movement there could be considered hostile anddddd he definitely doesn’t want a repeat of tiny people screaming and running off from him.

with a little downtime, eren approaches zeke in now mostly dry clothes, boots and a doohickey. a friendly approach? well, the only hideous thing on eren is how messy his painting got, splattering from head to toe in lime green and stepping closer to the ocean’s tide as the other paints. ]

[honestly, with a beach, Makoto just wants to try some traditional camping things she's seen in old movies. So, of course, she pulls out of her bag: a giant hershey's bar, a bag of marshmallows, and a box of graham crackers. Time to get messy, ya'll.

She was nice and brought some sticks for cooking the marshmallows. They just need to set up a fire.]

Did anyone see bigger sticks out there?

[she sees nothing wrong with that statement]

I'd like to start a fire.

[Elliot was just sitting here, minding his own business. And now he seems concerned.]

Um...why do you want to start one?

[He hasn't noticed the s'more ingredients]

THE BATTLE

A few days into their work, Zee sends another message.

The hoof prints. Follow the hoof prints into the ocean. It sounds kind of brutal, but the blood of the hippocampus will help recolor and stabilize the city. They aren't exactly dangerous, but don't take them lightly either.

As the party prepares themselves, they will find that the trail of hooves leads them out away from the village and on a journey through a canal between the cliffs, heading around and behind the village to the other side of the mountain area the village has been built into. They can follow the trail via boat or via Persona. Though the ocean may not be fully visible, it's still deep and they will need to be cautious.

The trail will lead them downward and the party will feel themselves sinking, though they will not have trouble breathing yet. Instead, they'll find themselves passing several schools of fish and rocky terrain as they enter a sea cave.

Inside the dark and spacious cave, the party will hear a whinny and a splash as they're immediately flanked by four hippocampi. The seahorses, as mentioned, aren't necessarily dangerous but they will immediately work to try and chase the party out of the cave. Beautiful and vibrant in color even without being painted, the hippocampi will kick and bite and attempt to shoo the party off. One of the horses (the largest, in fact) even breathes fireballs, so hopefully you can dodge that!

Our heroes decide that they need to separate to manage the four hippocampi... Now that they're in deeper waters, their scuba gear will keep them breathing, but at the same time somewhat weigh them down.

TEAM PURRFECT

ASSIGNMENT: Restrain and calm two hippocampi (while dodging fireballs from the big one).

[ While they've heard stories from the locals that the hippocampi are just mere legends, here are the beautiful horses in the flesh... They're really a sight to behold and Akira, of course, takes a picture of them with his phone that he has waterproofed during their stay here. Even though the horses come at them at full force, he's quick to stow his phone away and evade. ]

They said that that these hippocampi were gentle.

[ So why are these horses bucking their tail fins and trying to ram them against the cave's walls? They can only move so much with the water finally painted in. While he's thinking they're harmless, considering what this all might mean, a large... Bubbling fireball is launched at them. ]

TEAM FLUTEIFUL

ASSIGNMENT: Restrain and calm one hippocampi and the leader of the group.

[ Of all the ones that he could've been assigned to handle, why did it have to be the one that breaths fire?? What was a sea creature even doing breathing fire??

Don't get him wrong, it was a very beautiful mare, but-

He yelps as he jumps out of a way of a fireball. thank goodness he cast that dodge spell of his. ]

I'd be open to a plan!

DOWNTIME (Post Hippocampus)

The group was able to successfully calm down the hippocampus and collect the blood samples needed. It's not clear who or what got them into that state, so there's a troubling question for another time. Even so, the group did their job well and even managed to befriend the equine. Great job for not picking the murder route!

Now with the job done, they had a day or two to wait until Zee would be able to transport them back. Which means it's the perfect time for some real R&R. Relax on the beach, spend time with your new hippocampus friend, train, or even race with Makoto's new ride! How you spend your time up to you. You've earned it team!

[ Elliot for sure slept in until mid-morning that day. Then he spent some time practicing his violin (which is really his staff in its short form). But Elliot, deep down...was not that great at R&R. Not when he had something he wanted to work on.

So he'll be approaching the group at some point in the day.]

So...I know we're supposed to be resting, but there's this tech-magic thing I want to practice with.

It's called "Combat Linking". It allows two people to, er, sync up in a fight, I guess the best way to explain it. It's from my other life's world, but now there's an app for it for phones here?

[He scratches his jaw] Anyway...would anyone want to practice with me?

[ meanwhile: eren slept the entire day and only woke up the following morning. knocked out, coldcocked, busted. try and shake him awake and he’ll just mumble something about a warhammer or “smash”, unable to peel his eyes open until he rolls them back and, yes, keeps on sleeping. at least this sleep is a fairly tranquil one! thank, or not, the burdens of titan shifting too many times in a short timeframe.

did anyone draw on his face? you shall decide.

when eren finally manages to stir a day after, feeling like he’s had the longest dream about a kaiju battle (just kidding, it was a memory) and failing to fix his messy bed hair, and granted someone fills him in on what they’re working on (oh boy combat linking!!! he remembers this!!), eren obliges immediately, but not without awkwardly asking: ]

[Sleeping in is probably good idea for the one that got his ass run over by a horse. Luckily, there's healers aplenty in this group.

Unluckily, he's still sore and feels like an idiot.

So maybe it's time for the old time-honored tradition of... the Zidane Pout.

And this coming from the guy that seemed super excited to ride the ponies when they first thought about it. Don't mind him sitting in the hotel lobby and not moving much.]
