[ Anyone who runs into Yusuke from the moment he gets his hands on his paintbrush and a paint pot is going to be aware of two distinct things: firstly, that he is an artist and definitely knows what he's doing with the utensils at his disposal. This ain't his first rodeo, that's for sure.

Secondly though, is that Yusuke is painting a lot like a man possessed - he's specifically focused on finding outlines and getting an idea of the layout, despite his well known attention to detail, and just... doesn't seem to be stopping. From the moment he finds his painting tools, he's back tracking to his home and wildly painting the street back into existence.

And this is how he is for the majority of the week. There's a method to his madness though, he's clearly looking for something, and seems to retracing old steps in an attempt to find it. The longer he's at it, the sloppier the paintwork becomes and, quite honestly, the worse for wear Yusuke seems. He only stops when it gets too dark to paint, and returns home, before leaving to begin again early in the morning. Watch him long enough, and you may even catch him swaying on the spot, or heavy lidded, like he's about to fall asleep on his feet.

... Help him? This is just sad. ]

Messy is a style. Minimalist and simple are both styles as well.

Art is more interesting when you consider it that way.

Ah, really... well, I don't really care too much about that sort of thing when I'm drawing. Not that I'm planning on becoming a professional artist myself.

It is not for everyone. But I believe it's worth taking pride in whatever you create, art wise.

I think that's true. I mean, if you don't like what you're making... then why are you doing it to begin with?

Correct, in a way. You may not always like what you are left with once you are done, but along the way you will have learned valuable lessons - about where your strengths and interests lie.

That's true. Learning is a part of the process of becoming better, in the end.

Yes. We are always learning, after all. Life would be dull if we stopped.

[promisedyou]

Agreed. And a dull life isn't one worth living.

It's certainly one that feels a little more hollow.

[promisedyou]

It kind of reminds me of how the others are living their lives, in a way. Those without the application. Sure, they're happy and all, I guess... but I feel like there's just something hollow about their existence.

There is... bliss in ignorance. To them, their lives are happy and whole. But to know how things truly are means we cannot be comfortable with that.

I look at family and see them happy. But I also feel that I must do what I can to keep things comfortable, as I know the truth.

That's true. My parents are unaware of everything that's happening and they're safe and happy that way. But at the same time...

[It makes her a little uncomfortable; evident when her words trail off.]

... Yes, I would say that's a feeling I can empathise with. It's good to know they're safe and happy, but it sits slightly wrong.

Still, I would rather my mother did not get involved with some of the things I've seen on quests and such.

Yeah, I totally get it. Since my parents live here and the things that happen here are really potentially dangerous.

Yes. In this instance, it is probably safer to remain in the dark. Which is why it's a little disturbing that people not on the app seem to have gained some awareness of what's around them...

Exactly. [She says that rather nonchalantly, in fact.] Like, I wonder if losing the color might be part of it, but... how is it any different from everything else that's happened?

They said that the layers were gone... rather than just the colours. Maybe that's the key word, and what might be causing that awareness.

[promisedyou]

That's true, but then... what about the layers causes the awareness to begin with?

[fabrefactions]

That's more of a question for Retrospec themselves, I think. Also one I automatically assume they will not answer.
