Thanks for letting me keep him, professor.  George is so attached to me. He'll be sticking around us for a while.

[Sigmund, at his desk, gives her the blank look she is almost certainly used to seeing whenever she strikes up conversations with him lately. Man, a guy just can't eat his lunch in peace these days, can he? His lunch, that he was eating... in his office... which has an open door policy.

...Well, even if he did something about that, she'd probably space-cadet her way around it somehow.]

Uh - honestly, I didn't know. I'm... glad?

I've learned so many things about snails and I can't even add them into my report.

[Maybe if he prods her with this plastic fork in his hand, instead of his food... Hmm. Save that idea for later.]

If the actual report is complete, I can't stop you from adding whatever you want. I just can't promise extra credit, either.

[He realises he may regret that once she turns in whatever the heck she's imagining, but what else can he say? It's the truth.]

Yeah, a follow up on snails. That's okay! I don't need credit.

[Of course he'll regret his life. Akane's going to turn in something really freaking weird. That much is certain.]

[Alright, maybe he can't poke her with it, but there's nothing stopping him from pointing accusingly with the fork instead.] A real researcher doesn't take the lab animals home!

But he's really cute. Just look at him.

[Anyone else would see that snail as slimy and unattractive. Akane is just weird.]

If you poke him too much he hides inside of the shell. George is shy.

Then don't poke him! [This time his mouth is full.] You know... with this much time on your hands, haven't you ever thought about taking up a real hobby?

I've got plenty of hobbies. [Akane puffs her cheeks together.]

I read about the occult when I've got spare time. Didn't you call the number I sent you a few days ago?

[When Sigmund asked about the bulldozer? She remembers emailing him immediately after that.]

[Well, he could deny it, but the look of anguish dredged up by that particular recollection would give him away.] I wish I hadn't. She would not shut up.

What was she telling you? Do you remember?

[Knowing Sigmund? Probably not. He most likely tuned out of it all but she'd still like to know how that entire fiasco went down. Akane's terrible. ]

Why do you... [Sigh. Whatever.] Well, there was... a lot. She really wanted to know my birthday, so I gave her a fake, and she just ran with it. Ascendant this and that, finances, love life...

[He shakes his head as if to physically dislodge the memory. Unfortunately, his memory is pretty good.]

Then she started asking to meet up in person for coffee, so I hung up.
