April Catchall [OPEN]
WHO: Matt Murdock and Others
WHERE: Recolle courthouse, Around the City
WHEN: Throughout April
WHAT: Matt is the prosecutor in the case against Shouto's father, Matt catches people lying, Other misc events
WARNINGS: Discussion of domestic abuse in open trial prompt and one closed prompt
The Trial of Enji Todoroki [OPEN]
[ Enji Todoroki, a famous retired actor was arrested on charges of domestic abuse. The media went wild and court reporters fight for seats every day of the trial. Photographers and camera man sit out on the courthouse steps or in the hallways if possible in hopes of getting a shot of Mr. Todoroki and his lawyers. The internet is wild with arguments among fans, and as the trial proceeds and days pass it doesn't look like the chaos surrounding the case will cease. ]
A. [ The judge had declared a recess for lunch and after some extra effort and a roundabout route Matt had reached one of the nearby restaurants. He's sitting now alone now and eating in silence, his bag tucked into the small booth seat next to him. At one point he puts his fork down and takes his glasses off so he can run a hand over his face. There are bags under his eyes that one might notice if they get a glance before he puts the shades back on.
It would be easy for someone to slip into the booth across from him if they wanted to... ]
B. [ His closing argument had gone well, he had reminded the jury of the medical evidence and the testimony given by the defendant's son. The defense had offered counter points and again tried to paint their client as a good man one last time before the jury left to vote. With all the press surrounding this case the air feels thick and heavy in the courtroom when the foreman stands to announce the verdict. Everyone there might have been holding their breath.
Guilty. The room erupts in noise that drowns out the full list of charges as they're read and the judge has to bang the gavel. It barely takes a minute for the news to reach out of the courtroom.
Matt takes his time putting his papers away, knowing tv reporters might tackle him for a statement if he steps out immediately. People crowd around the doors and start filing out. Now is as good a time as any to approach ADA Murdock if you were seated in the courtroom. ]
Liar liar plants for hire! [OPEN, WILDCARD]
[ Matt had been able to hear the pulses of everyone around him for months now but in the past week or so he had started to take notice of the sudden change of pace that some people's hearts would take in the middle of what seemed like calm conversation. That was when he realized he was witnessing lies. Some big, some small, some white, some of terrible intent.
Of course now that he had noticed this lies began to stand out like a loud ringing every time that he heard one. ]
[ ooc: If you choose this prompt you can either set the scene involving a lie yourself or tag and request a prompt from me (please specify if your character or an NPC will be lying). ]

wildcard.
No, it's fake. Maintaining a real one just for an accessory would be pretty hard, y'know? I just wanted to try something different.
[THE BIGGEST, FATTEST LIE when the "it" in question is the flower stuck permanently in her eye. It's not like she can explain that to a non-Retrospec user though. After a bit more gushing about ~*aesthetics*~ and compliments, the other girl finally leaves, and Rose tiredly jabs her fork into the slice of cake she has.]
Fucking finally. Never thought she'd leave. [While a part of her is pretty pleased at the fact that she's managed to trick more and more people into thinking this is a real fashion statement, enough that it's apparently catching on as a trend, she didn't think that'd mean having to deal with random strangers asking her about it on the street. She just wants to eat cake in peace!!]

[ Rose might not be the warmest person ever to walk the earth but he's a little surprised she's that incredibly frustrated by a stranger's compliments. ]
no subject
[ROSE YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHY. She's just too lazy to deal with unexpected consequences... Like people taking her seriously.]
no subject
...Rose did... Retrospec change something about you, physically?
[ Unusual accessory could easily mean Retrospec change or item that is inconveniently odd in appearance. ]
You seem stressed.
[ More than usual. ]

As much as she tries to own the flower now though, she still doesn't like talking about it.]
Yeah, actually. My hair's white now. [Until she dyed it at least. Of course that's not really what he's asking about here, but she wants to delay it for just a little longer.] Although I could probably just say it was because of stress, right?
no subject
Yeah so they say. This makes you the... fourth person with a hair color change that I know. First white. The others were purple and pink, unless they were pulling my leg.
Funny, I wouldn't have thought of hair as an accessory.
no subject
But yeah, I guess not. [She pauses before letting out a short but heavy sigh. Well, it's not like she expects a pity party from him of all people, and even if something like that actually happened, she could just leave.] There's a flower in my eye, and that girl thought it was some artistic new fashion trend. Which is what I tell people anyways, but.
[It's said so casually you'd never guess she lost an eye or spent months too insecure to feel comfortable going out in public.]

[A flower in her eye? Oh!] That's where the floral scent is from. That does sound like it could be a fashion trend... Only vision left in one eye then?
