WHAT: Time for them to go help out with tsunami relief!
WARNINGS: Very likely innuendo a-plenty but nothing overt. Look, they're super into each other okay.

Well this was the last thing he'd expected when they got here.

Originally Fai had mentioned wanting to help out here after the tsunami and Iwai had agreed. He knew what tsunamis could do to coastal cities and villages and so on. He knew what those places needed in order to recover. If nothing else he could at least help them out. Offer some kind of aid. You know, even if it was only to clean up.

But then they'd been dragged under the water and bubbles had appeared on their heads. Apparently they were now to help with draining the village while swimming around in this water with bubbles on their heads.

This was officially the weirdest tsunami relief he'd ever seen or taken part in.

When Fai had suggested taking a couple days to help with the tsunami relief, he really hadn't had anything like this in mind. Maybe with all of the odd stories coming out of the surrounding towns he should have realized, but it's not like he's actually ventured out to any of them. And somehow he'd thought maybe the tsunami itself had been the weird part, since who'd ever heard of tsunamis around Recolle? Short of the ocean disappearing that one time back in August, of course....

He'd panicked, understandably, when they'd first been dragged out into the water. Scrambling, reaching out half-blind to try to find Iwai. It wasn't that he was a bad swimmer at all, but the suddenness of it, the sudden inability to breathe, the fear that either he or Iwai or both were going to get dragged out to sea...

By the time the bubbles appeared over their heads he was clinging to Iwai, breathing fast and his one good eye wide with shock. None of the magic he'd learned yet or the vampiric abilities he'd gained seemed like they were going to be helpful in a situation like this.

"Are you... can you hear me?"

"Yeah. Apparently."

He patted him. Somewhat awkwardly because of the water but he did still try to comfort him. "Just know that the next time there's a water situation, try not to grab for the people around ya, okay? Good way to cause a drowning on accident."

But he wasn't mad in the slightest and he just took Fai's hand so they could swim together and go find out what the hell was going on here.

Oh. Right. That... made sense.

Even knowing that Iwai wasn't angry, didn't sound angry at all, Fai still ducked his head (such as it went, underwater and in a bubble like this) and nodded. "Right. Sorry." It seemed like something he probably should have known, although he'd never nearly drowned before.

Gripping Iwai's hand just shy of too hard, Fai let the older man lead as they paddled through the water. "I didn't realize it was going to be this bad.... Do you think everyone has a bubble like this?" It was a strange thing, to be sure, but at least maybe it meant casualties would be low.

"Guess we're gonna find out. Let's hope so."

Because if these were how they were breathing then the people down here needed the same thing. Though shit...how were they going to get rid of all this water? Were they just going to live under it now? That seemed...complicated.

He sighed and gave Fai's hand a comforting squeeze as he brought him along with him.

"Hey. Is that it?" he finally asked, pointing ahead.
