WHAT: Sakura's friends are invited to a party for her birthday.

[Maybe some arrived earlier, to help get the food ready or set up any decorations. Most of it is ready, though some preparation might be more last minute in that morning once she has opened presents from her family - after dealing with an initial prank from her brother, given the date and all.

She hadn't anticipated anything too huge or fancy. Though that might end up debatable given how Fai tends to spoil her at the best of times. Still, the house should hopefully be big enough. She hopes. Sakura fusses a little with her dress, her hair, before coming to try offer to help with any last minute decorations or anything. Once people do start arriving, everyone is free to mingle and enjoy the food and drinks (non-alcoholic).

Sakura tries to get around to say hi to everyone, sometimes but not always managing to be the one to answer the door. She seems to be enjoying herself, glad of the chance to catch up with everyone in person, even if some might not stay all day. And given the weekend, given the holidays, she isn't so worried on staying up late either. She joins in with mingling, and might be easier to corner and get some one on one time later in the afternoon/evening, once others might have already gone home.

She doesn't have a traditional cake, but a number of cupcakes for everyone instead, with those and the rest of the snacks provided being made by Fai. With Xiaolang's help, and maybe Sakura managing to somewhere in the process of making it all.]

Sure! That would be great!

[She peers closer, listening when he shows and tells her about the hidden drawer. It really would be useful. And reminds her of something out of a spy movie or something. Sakura never really anticipated having something like this. But then, with the app, her cards, she has more need now in keeping certain things hidden. Namely, her cards.]

[He smiles at her then ruffles her hair a bit.]

Go on and have some more fun with your friends. You don't need to hang out with an old guy like me when you've got them around.

Eh? But. You won't be left out?

[Probably not. He did have at least Fai around, and some of the older friends Sakura invited, like Derek at least. Sakura just wants to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves, even if she has the promise on spending time with him again later to help with the drawers.]

[geckoman]

Don't worry about me. I'll be alright. Besides, Fai's around when he's not bouncing around being a host.

[He doesn't mind being left out honestly. Because he doesn't really know what to do in the first place. He's...never done a kid's party before anyway.]

Never had a birthday party myself growing up so I like just watching you have a good time. Promise.

I guess so. But -- ehhh? You never had one? Wait, when is your birthday?

[Okay, so she can't go back in time and give him a party as a kid, obviously, but. She could at least talk to Fai about trying to do something special for his next birthday at least? Something Iwai would like, even a smaller gathering or something?]

Nope.

[Then she asks him when his is. Oh yeah. That's coming up in a month, huh. He almost forgot.]

Next month actually on the sixth.

Then I'll just have to talk to Fai-san about a party then!

[Because. Really. No birthday parties. How did this even happen, Iwai. Clearly they need to do something about this. This had to be fixed. There were years to make up for here. Literal years.]

[geckoman]

A party? I think I'd be fine if we just did a dinner with those of us here at the house.

[No big parties please, Sakura. Except if you want to then he'll actually be touched. Seriously. He's not sure what he's done that makes you want to do something like that for him.]

[keystaff]

Just a dinner? That would be easier, I guess. But it still seems sad to miss out on a party. You wouldn't want anyone else to come?

[Even just a few closer friends? Not that she would force anything, she wouldn't want him being uncomfortable if he really would prefer something quieter, more intimate like a dinner, but still.]

[geckoman]

Not sure who would come really. Can't say I have a lot of friends.

[Honestly he has more than he realizes.]

[keystaff]

That can't be true. Everyone does. And especially if you know Fai-san. He seems pretty popular.

[So Iwai probably knew more people than he figured, that would be happy to come celebrate his birthday. Or at least, Sakura figured anyway.
Though she was admittedly quite the optimist, she was sure she wasn't wrong either. That he had more friends than he realized.]

[That's...literally not how things work. But it's her birthday and she's a good kid so he doesn't want to just tell her that. So he just chuckles a bit.]

Yeah. He's got a good set of friends.

[keystaff]

He does! I think a lot of us do. Even if it might be from the app. I've made a lot of friends from it too. I'm sure you have as well.

[Even if he might not think of some as 'friends' others still might consider him one. Enough to come to a party if one were organized for him. Still, now probably isn't the time to be arguing with him on that, considering her setting. Considering she probably has other guests to greet at this point.]

[geckoman]

Me? Sakura, I think you forget that I'm an old grump.

[At least he acknowledges it?]

You're not that old.

[Given her age. Old to her is like. Wrinkles and grey hair and grandkids sort of deal. Not Iwai or Fai.]

[geckoman]

[He snorts at that.]

I'm forty-five but thanks.

[keystaff]

Forty-five still isn't when you're old and grey and have grandkids though!

[Yeah, that is 'old' in Sakura's terms. Which is probably a little different to most other kids? But still. This is supposed to be reassuring. Or something.]

[geckoman]

[He knows her well enough by now to know that she's not just kissing his ass so he just gives her a smile.]

It's true. But ah, we should probably get back to it.

[He could help her with the desk later. For now, she doesn't want to potentially miss anyone coming to drop off presents and saying hi. So she figures they better get back to the party.]
