I know, I'm not a little kid anymore
WHO: Sakura Kinomoto, OPEN
WHERE: Fai's house! Since she lives with him now.
WHEN: April 1st, early afternoon
WHAT: Sakura's friends are invited to a party for her birthday.
WARNINGS: None?
[Maybe some arrived earlier, to help get the food ready or set up any decorations. Most of it is ready, though some preparation might be more last minute in that morning once she has opened presents from her family - after dealing with an initial prank from her brother, given the date and all.
She hadn't anticipated anything too huge or fancy. Though that might end up debatable given how Fai tends to spoil her at the best of times. Still, the house should hopefully be big enough. She hopes. Sakura fusses a little with her dress, her hair, before coming to try offer to help with any last minute decorations or anything. Once people do start arriving, everyone is free to mingle and enjoy the food and drinks (non-alcoholic).
Sakura tries to get around to say hi to everyone, sometimes but not always managing to be the one to answer the door. She seems to be enjoying herself, glad of the chance to catch up with everyone in person, even if some might not stay all day. And given the weekend, given the holidays, she isn't so worried on staying up late either. She joins in with mingling, and might be easier to corner and get some one on one time later in the afternoon/evening, once others might have already gone home.
She doesn't have a traditional cake, but a number of cupcakes for everyone instead, with those and the rest of the snacks provided being made by Fai. With Xiaolang's help, and maybe Sakura managing to somewhere in the process of making it all.]

So when Quin picks up one of the cupcakes and comments upon it's looks, there's a slight twinge of disappointment that it was one of the ones Fai had worked on before he arrived. Perfect opportunity to brag gone! At least Xiaolang made the cute sandwiches, though!!]
You may as well. Her father put a lot of work into those.
[Although, given that they both knew Sakura prior to her adoption, it was obvious Fai wasn't her father by blood. But Iwai gave Xiaolang a good lecture on Thanksgiving for refusing to call him as such and how it was disrespectful, so Xiaolang had been careful over how to refer to him ever since.]
I'm surprised you even made the walk here to begin with.

He clutches the gift tightly to his chest when he realizes who's just joined him. It's his, and he made it, and Xiaolang is totally jealous because he's always jealous of Quin's talent. Never ever is it the other way around. The cupcake is also his, and he's not going to set it back down. The dilemma here is that with both hands full, he can't pull out his cellphone. Whoops.]
Her father, huh? [An auburn brow rises in silent question. He wants to ask about Xiaolang's change of tune when it comes to Sakura's adoptive father, but no amount of curiosity could win out over his fear that Sakura might overhear. He decides to take this in a different direction.] Did you burn the whole batch when you tried?

He's vaguely aware of Quin's struggle with his hands, but he doesn't make any offer to help him just yet. Was it really that hard to just set the gift down for a moment to free himself up? Honestly? The inquisitive look isn't lost on him, though, and his guard begins to raise, not all that eager to explain to Quin of all people the reasons behind it. That and... well, he didn't want Sakura to overhear it, either. They already had a conversation, that same Thanksgiving night, about her feelings over the whole situation, and he made a mental promise to respect them.
So thank goodness for Quin's diversion, as he sputters over that surprise snide remark, cheeks red as he shoots the other boy a dirty look.]
I don't burn anything! I helped Fai with a lot of this, you know! [And, in the most typical of teenage boy mutters--] I probably know my way around a kitchen better than you do, anyway.

It doesn't count if you can't do it yourself! Even a dog can "help" in the kitchen.

... but honestly, that was still really insulting, and he wasn't about to let it slide that easily.]
What did you just call me?
