WHAT: Local man deals with problems and is an affront to fashion.

[open] a. - at club sunshine

[ as much as majima's life may be falling apart around him, he's still the picture perfect boss at work. it's easy to throw himself into work and not worry about anything else. whether he's busy getting ready or actually on the job, majima's got more important things to worry about than retrospec. it's better that way for him. he's always worked long hours but he seems to be taking off less and less time these days.

but aside from working constantly, it's hard to tell that anything is wrong with him unless you really know him. he's so good at making that switch between working and not working, like he's a completely different person on the clock than off. so maybe you catch him after work as he's loosening his bowtie and getting ready to hit the streets, letting formalities go and sliding back into the person he really is. like he's got more weight on his shoulders. ]

[open] b. - the fighting prompt in a back alley

[ although he used to fight in competitions, majima had more or less stopped once he got super strength back. now, though, he's figured out pretty well how not to kill people weaker than him - how to fight on anyone's level and dial it back. sure, it's not as fun when people aren't really a good match for him but fighting is fighting, right? Out on the streets he's dressed a little differently, with that sweet snakeskin jacket and black pants - no shirt. Look, he's living his best life.

i. majima's looking for a fight, and maybe he called you out here or maybe he just knows you're good at it so he waves you over. ]

Hey, now's a good a time as any, right? It'll be fun.

[ or ii. while majima's business is definitely on the straight and narrow, it isn't all he's been doing with his time. it's something of a cliche scene - majima's in a back alley to make a deal for some goods and instead the guys decide they can take his money and beat him up and not give him what he came for. stick around long enough to watch and you'll quickly find out these four guys aren't really any match for majima, or intervene before that. ]

[ true to his word, majima brings kiryu out for this drinking date with may. he's not sure if she'll really drag sakura out or not, but he can't deny that a good night out with drinks and company sounds great to him. the club probably won't burn down while he's gone (right...) so it'll be a good time.

majima and kiryu get there first and so he's idly flipping through the karaoke catalog. ]

[closed] d. tachibana & the bat tattoo at a coffee shop

[ it's important that kiryu goes with him to meet with tachibana because he still kind of wants to rip this guy's head off. this bat tattoo memory was pretty vague though - maybe it wasn't tachibana, and kiryu seemed to have enough confidence in this guy for like ten people. so majima does his best to try not to jump to any conclusions. (it's difficult.)

either way, they really should pool their information on what they know. and if tachibana truly cared for makoto, then he needed to know what happened to her. regardless of his feelings talking this stuff out was the logical thing - and could lead the group of them to remember more. ]

[There certainly is quite the mood floating about regarding this particular subject. What it is and what the root of the unease was. But that's the reason he agreed to come here after all. Unpleasant s the truth might be he'd chosen to look for it when he asked the community for help.

[ It's difficult for Kiryu to make up his mind on this. He can remember being loyal to Tachibana, even holding him while he died... but he is now undoubtedly the man with the bat tattoo that Majima remembers, or at least a man associated with whoever that man had been. Kiryu really hopes it's the latter and not the former, but only their memories will reveal the truth either way.

It's probably time they came clean. About most of it. (Yeah, Kiryu probably isn't going to tell Tachibana he died, nope. ]

We don't really understand everything ourselves.

[ And truthfully Kiryu knows it's kind of uncomfortable to be told about your past rather than remember it. He doesn't want that. ]

But I did remember some stuff. About the empty lot and that tattoo.

I see, so you knew about that too then.

[Ahhhhh yes. The empty lot.]

Then whatever you know-- I'd like to hear it.

[At this point he will take any knowledge he can get. Anything that will get him closer to understanding what's going on. Or was going on, back then. But that does remind him-- there's one thing he can share as well. Something new.]

I also remembered something not long ago. The man who asked me to get this tattoo was in it. And you were as well. I realize now that at the very least I trusted you both very dearly. Probably as much as I would have trusted anyone, I imagine.

Yes. Everyone in this gang of his wore the same mark on their arm.

[ Kiryu nods. There's at least a fifty/fifty chance that Tachibana isn't their guy, so he'll take it. If he's going to explain... most things, then he'll have to start somewhere. ]

I remembered seeing your arm. The tattoo on it, I mean. [ Well, and the fact that he only had one. ] I also remembered something around the time we both met. At least it felt like I didn't know you, but you knew a lot about me.

It would seem that I knew a lot of people. They were... sharing information with me. That's how I was able to find my sister, it seems.

[He doesn't know much about it-- or why he has such connections. But if it was able to find a person that was missing for what seemed like such a long time, it must have been impressive, so to speak.]

You were definitely not your average real estate broker.

[ Yeah, Kiryu doesn't know how Tachibana got all these connections but... He sure was intimidating when he wanted to be. Majima will probably have more to add about Tachibana's sister but... ]

The man you mentioned, Oda, I remembered a little about him. He showed me the ropes... he might have been your assistant or something.

[Until now he'd thought that the real estate part of that life might have been separate from whatever he'd gotten involved in with Oda. But that would seem not to be the case.]

So... like you, he was working for me?

[That flips another of his assumptions on it's head.]

Then-- though he was the one who asked me to join, at some point our positions reversed. Or perhaps he meant for it to be that way. But why Real Estate? That's an odd choice for a gang.

[Even the owner of the business needs to take breaks. Even if they have a busy evening, there's no reason why Majima needs to be constantly up and about. Checking on the hosts, checking on the bar, checking that all the booths and menus are clean - Shuji's pretty sure that Majima hasn't sat down for an hour, at least.]

Hey, Majima, can you look at these numbers with me for a minute?

[There's nothing wrong with them. He just needs an excuse to get Majima to sit the fuck down.]

Great, sit down with me in here.

[He'll usher Majima into the office regardless of any further argument. He'll even pull out a chair for him. Get nice and comfortable, boss.]

[For whatever reason, Tatsuo had to hit up four separate stores tonight in his search for his favorite coffee. Sure, he could just order it online and make due with something else until it arrives. Or he could hunt it down himself and save himself the shipping.

As he exits the store, hard won bounty in hand, Tatsuo realizes he's spent a good two hours on this venture and laughs to himself. The ridiculous lengths he'll go to just so he can wake up properly in the morning. Storing the package of coffee in a saddlebag, Tatsuo is about to put his helmet on when he hears noises from a nearby alleyway.

Noises that sound suspiciously like a fight.

Frowning, Tatsuo taps his pocket to make sure his cell phone is where he thinks it is, and goes to peek into the alley. The last time he heard noises from an alley he ended up tangling with a cyborg, so he's kind of hesitant about getting involved in anything. He can't see anything from the mouth of the alley though, so he ventures a bit deeper.

Rounding a corner, he spots the altercation. Four guys against one. That gets him ready to jump in right then and there, but then he realizes the guy in the middle of all of this has an eyepatch and is wearing a garish snakeskin jacket. Even as he runs forward, he knows he's not needed. But like hell is he just going to hang back.]

Hey! Why you having fun without me?

[Grabs the first guy he can reach and knees him in the gut.]

I didn't have time ta send a card.

[ majima's happy to have the company, though - fighting people is always fun and fighting people with a friend like tatsuo? even better. ]

Next time I'll try an' get it in the mail sooner.

You do that. How am I supposed to arrive to the party on time if I don't know when it's going to be?

[Apparently a well placed knee to the gut isn't quite enough, and Tatsuo has to give him a couple punches to the jaw before the guy goes down. It's kind of fun, to be honest, as he feels the adrenaline starting to course through his system. Even sparring with his sensei at the dojo doesn't give him a rush like this, because he knows the man will never injure him with malice. These punks though, that risk is there.]

Yeah, it kinda will.

[ The thing is, Andrew had been genuine about the offer for a drink, but this will work... better. For all he's not fond of hatred-driven violence (and he's seen a lot of that, one way or another, the world over), there's something really good about narrowing your focus to this one fight, past and future ceasing to exist.

His experience is a mix - starting out as an idealist, piss-poor kid in the country (he never would pick fights, but he would defend others - and some would pick fights with him), going on with a little more formal combat training with the military, picking up a little tai chi from a friend, and some dark alleys thrown here and there; he knows one thing to begin with - don't underestimate your opponents. Ever.

He's loosened up, always ready, eyes on Majima, but... really. As good a time as any.

Andrew starts low, dropping down to a crouch to lash a leg out to try to cut off Majima's footing. Getting a read how somebody moves generally pays off. ]

[ majima's different - he's the kid who picked fights, who always found a reason to get up in someone else's face. it's the adrenaline rush, the excitement, the blood pounding in your ears. for majima it's a way to feel alive, and that's the most important part of all.

trying to cut off his footing his a bad move, majimas far too nimble on his feet and just dodges to the side, almost too quick. so maybe he's gotten a real handle on the super strength but the super speed is still a work in progress. ]

Gonna have ta be faster than that!

[ but he doesn't wait - he lunges forward to try and punch him in the jaw. ]

-May burst into the room, as she so often did, nearly ripping the door off its hinges, which the proprietor sure didn't appreciate but she'd just dropped a healthy amount of money on booze, so whatever. She had in each hand a case of beer. The good stuff. And right behind her was the girl Majima and Kiryu were to meet.-

Sup, sup, sup! Are we ready to party or what?

[Against May's entrance, Sakura remains quiet and painfully unassuming as she enters the room -- turns around to close the door more gently on its hinges -- and then surveys the room with quiet eyes.

Normally she's not this silent, having learned to better read the atmosphere since coming to America, but. New people and all. May's friends in particular. That last reminder gets her smiling, at least, with an automatic bow to Majima and Kiryu]

Hello. It's nice to meet you.

Hey! It's niceta meet ya too.

[ majima's presence is loud like may's - they're out for a night they might as well let loose, right? at least kiryu will be more chill. ]

I've heard a lot about you.

[ hes so embarassing. ]

[ Kiryu is the very definition of chill. He nods with a slight smile and scoots closer to Majima to make room for them. ]

Hey. Do you like karaoke?

-The difference was exactly why May set the booze in front of Majima, plopping down and immediately grabbing the song book to thumb through.-

Wouldn't be here if she didn't. Or at least, we're gonna make sure she has a good time, right?

Hopefully it's been good things.

[She says it with a hint of teasing, answering Majima's statement while she sits down next to May at the end of the couch.

And if nothing else, the Japanese are good for singing their hearts out in the most embarrassing of displays, and Sakura nods at Kiryu's question]

I do! I'm glad May-chan invited me.

[She won't know most of the English songs! But that's half the fun, obviously.]

Oh, you know the way to a girl's heart.

[she's dressed casually, but when she had gotten the call, she had come over - how could she refuse a request from him, and especially one that touched the feeling that she started to get from fighting. excitement, anticipation. that and more.]

Any ground rules, or are we just letting our hearts be free?

Eh, I mean, you're not gonna hurt me.

[ one day they'll go at it chainsaws and knives and all but at least with fists they'll have no problem. ]

Only if you're afraid I'll go too far. But me, I think I'll be too caught up in it all to care. You know how it is, when reason gives way to pure passion.

[and on a completely different day, earlier or later, Grell actually gets off work and decides to make her way to Club Sunshine. never being inside, she didn't know what to expect, but looking around, she's quite impressed.

though she refuses an offer for a hostess, and instead inquires after Majima - tell him a friend's here for him.]

[ the npc greeter takes her over to a seat at the bar rather than a booth since she's not going to talk to a host and they go to tell majima, who comes over not long after, dressed to the nines. ]

So, I finally see you in your artificial habitat.

[Dylan finds himself curious about Club Sunshine, merely from word of mouth. He's only 20 years old and has been drinking in Australia for 2 years now, but he knows very well that the drinking age is 21 years old in America from his world travels with his mother. Time to see if he can even get into this place in the first place. He has no idea that the owner himself is on the premises, he's just looking to get out of his apartment.

So he comes up to the front door and presents himself to whoever's in charge of the clearing process, if there is one.]

[ as long as he's 18 he can speak with a host - and when he gets to to the door, he'll be greeted by majima. ]

[ He's underdressed he feels like, but at least he's not in jeans and a t-shirt. Casual upper-middle-class attire that's fashionable, but hardly a suit and tie. ]
