White Day

WHO: Iwai and Fai
WHERE: Penthouse suite
WHEN: White Day
WHAT: Mom and dad deserve a date night
WARNINGS: Innuendo a-hoy! But otherwise it'll be good. Promise.

The moment they stepped into the suite Iwai knew he was going to have to find a way to thank Kenta. Because damn everything was nice. It was like a little apartment and even had a dinner already setup. He didn't know what was under the trays but he was sure it was bound to be damn good. No place like this would offer low class food. Least that was what he was figuring as he set their bags down.

He'd called ahead all the same and smiled when he saw what was waiting on the table. A bouquet of white roses. Those he went for right away and brought them over to Fai.

"Here. I had these sent here so they'd be a surprise."

Just because he was used to Jirou and Kenta being incredibly generous didn't mean Fai was going to start taking it for granted. His one good eye was wide as they stepped into the room Kenta had reserved for them, and as Iwai brought the bags in, Fai wandered slowly through the suite to take in all the little details. The mints on the pillows. The fancy soaps and shampoos in the bathroom. Someone had even left an origami crane on each nightstand near the massive bed. And even though it didn't appeal the way it used to, the scent of food wafting in from the table smelled pretty darn amazing. He might even have to try a little of it.

He was just wandering back toward the dining area when Iwai caught him first. With a bouquet of roses.

Momentarily at a loss for words (for a change), Fai carefully took the bouquet from Iwai. His cheeks were already starting to turn pink as he brought the flowers up to smell them. And then he shifted the bouquet to one hand to throw the other arm around Iwai's neck in a hug.

"I love them." Fai's voice was a bit muffled from the way he'd sort of smushed his face against Iwai in the hug, but he figured Iwai would get the idea. After a brief but fierce embrace (he was careful not to squeeze too hard, since his vampire strength--while nothing that was going to have him lifting cars or anything--was still more than he'd had before and would definitely hurt) he pulled back, but not out of the hug, just far enough to pull the flowers close to smell them again.

"They're lovely, thank you." He kissed Iwai on the cheek and grinned. "I wonder if they have a vase in here somewhere?"

Fai just alternated between smelling and admiring his flowers, and watching Iwai work. He wasn't much inclined to argue with his boyfriend about his makeshift vase anyway, but even if he had, it was only water. It wasn't like they were ruining the thing.

(And the small, naughty voice in the back of his mind insisted that with Kenta paying for the place, the hotel wasn't likely to make a fuss about it anyway. But that wasn't a good way to look at things and Fai knew it.)

With the flowers now in water, Fai carefully arranged the stems and placed the whole thing on the table. "There! Now we can look at them and smell them while we have dinner! Mmm, and it smells really good too! What did they bring us?"

Fai tried really hard not to laugh. He would never make fun of Iwai for not knowing the ins and outs of fancy cuisine. But that answer was so adorable (the basic equivalent of "some sort of food") that it sort of... blurted out. Oops.

"You are so cute!" He reached over to cup Iwai's face between both of his hands, wearing that stupidly fond expression he often wore when he was around Iwai, and planted a kiss squarely on the other man's nose.

Fai honestly wasn't sure whether he could explain just how cute the whole thing was without insulting or offending Iwai--not that the older man tended to get offended easily, but Fai didn't want to take the chance.

"It doesn't matter," he chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "It doesn't matter why you're adorable, it just matters that you are adorable!" He leaned forward to give Iwai a peck on the lips and then patted him on the chest, grinning, before turning just enough to get a decent look at the meal on the table.

"Ah, that looks like poulet à la provençale! I haven't had this in ages, no wonder it smelled so good!"

Iwai stop being so adorable. (Or... better yet, don't.)

Fai just grinned and nodded. "Yes, it's French. And it should be very tasty, if they made it correctly! So you should probably sit your very cute butt down in one of those chairs and have some of it before it gets cold~"

For emphasis, he reached around to pat said very cute butt, much like Iwai tended to do to him. Turnabout and all that.

As usual, it was ridiculously easy for Iwai to move the blond. The squeak Fai let out was more due to surprise than anything--he never really minded when Iwai hauled him around like this. (In fact, somewhat later in the evening Fai was hoping there might be a whole lot more of that. Ahem.)

As soon as he realized what Iwai was doing, however, Fai grinned and wrapped his arms loosely around the other man's neck. Leave it to his incredible boyfriend to know how to make a six-foot tall man, the same height as himself, feel small and cute.

"All French things are amazing," Fai said matter-of-factly, suppressing his grin in an effort to seem authoritative. "You should know this by now~!"

"Good answer," Fai chuckled. After Iwai was done with the bite, the blond deftly snatched the fork out of his hand and turned to spear another bite of chicken. Just because food didn't hold quite the same appeal anymore, and even though he didn't get much out of it, it didn't mean he was wholly uninterested. And this really did look and smell great.

(It didn't smell quite as good as Iwai, but the poor chef downstairs couldn't be held accountable for that.)

Fai tried a small bite of the dish and hummed his approval. "Perfect! Maybe I'll make this for us sometime at home, I'll bet the kids would like it."

The next bite speared on the fork was held up for Iwai, and Fai didn't look like he had any intention of relinquishing the fork for his boyfriend to go back to feeding himself.

Somehow this had become an integral part of their dates, feeding each other--although it had started as less of a cutesy thing and more as a way for Iwai to make sure his beanpole of a boyfriend was actually eating. But Fai loved the sweetness and the intimacy of it, without any worry about how silly it might seem from the outside. Feeding a forty-five year old, perfectly capable man.

It meant getting to care for the person he loved the most, and it meant getting to sit in his foxy boyfriend's lap for the rest of the meal.

Score.

He laughed and turned to spear another bite. "I don't know, I think the boys would eat anything vaguely edible as long as I put enough of it in front of them. Teenage boys don't seem much different these days from when I was that age."

[personal profile] flowrite 2018-04-06 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Fai turned his head back to fix Iwai with a skeptical look before offering another bite. "What, so you're trying to tell me that just because you grew up half a world away, you weren't a walking bundle of hormones and hunger when you were a teenager? I'm pretty sure that's biological, not societal."

Still, he smiled at the mention of Noah. "He's a good boy. Even if I desperately want to take him shopping and get some color into his wardrobe. And shove a bar of soap in his mouth while I'm at it!"

[personal profile] flowrite 2018-04-09 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
(It was probably a good thing Iwai was tactful enough not to bring that up. Fai would have felt terrible if the conversation had turned in that direction.)

As it was, he laughed aloud at the idea that he probably just wanted to take all of his little family shopping, having to duck his head against Iwai's neck so as not to be rude and laugh open-mouthed while Iwai's dinner was right there. (Did vampires still have germs? More things to ponder.)

"Ah, you're definitely right about that! One of these days I'll have to take Sakura-chan shopping, although we'll probably break the bank finding cute things for her! And you, Mister Sexy-pants~" Fai lifted his head and grinned. "I'm going to take you out shopping someday too. You'd be like a really big, sexy Ken-doll for me to dress up!"

Fai cackled and let his head fall gently forward again, this time so that his forehead rested against Iwai's. He supposed he shouldn't be surprised, after spending these last several months together, that that was what Iwai took out of what he'd said. The older man tended to get hung up on funny parts of their conversations, which Fai suspected had just as much to do with the gap in their ages and personalities as it had to do with the different cultures they'd grown up in.

Fai just thought it was really cute, honestly.

"It's like a Barbie doll, sweetheart," he said, the obvious amusement in his voice lacking any trace of teasing this time. "Ken is Barbie's boyfriend, I think. It's a boy doll you put different clothes on. So you'd be my own pretty doll to try different clothes on."

"Can you honestly imagine me passing up an opportunity to play dress-up?" Fai grinned and finally turned to gather up some more of Iwai's dinner onto the fork. He could get distracted with the best of them--and especially by Iwai--but it would be a shame to let such nice food go to waste. And Fai always had to be mindful these days of what and how much his boyfriend was eating. Even if he hadn't asked to be a vampire, or to only find Iwai viable as a source of blood, he had some pretty compelling reasons for wanting to keep the man healthy that didn't have to do with guilt.

(But of course it was Fai, so there was definitely still some lingering guilt there too.)

"Hm, I'll bet one of these other dishes is dessert! I wonder what they left for us?"

"I would be delighted!"

As soon as Iwai had taken the current bite of dinner off the fork, Fai sat the utensil on the edge of the plate to free his hand up. He had to lean a bit to reach the last covered dish, sitting side-saddle on Iwai's lap as he was, but he shot a sly look back at Iwai as he did so--though he managed to restrain himself from wiggling while he was at it.

It was a near-Herculean effort, mind. To keep himself from trying to distract Iwai before dinner was finished.

(Give yourself a little mental pat on the back there, Fai.)

When he managed to snag the handle on the last lid, he gasped in delight at what lay beneath.

"Cheesecake!" Bless the room service staff here, honestly.

Surprise registered in Fai's good eye for a split second before he laughed aloud at his boyfriend's table manners. Hey, it was just the two of them here, so who cared? It's not like he had to worry about cooties~

Setting the lid to the side and out of their way, Fai proceeded to follow Iwai's lead and dredge his own scarred fingertip through the delicious filling. He only took a little taste from the edge, though, then held the rest out to Iwai.

"That is good! It's a good thing I don't have to worry so much about calories anymore!" Because vampire and not eating real food much anymore and all. "I guess you'll just have to work out a little extra this week, hmm~?"

With his boyfriend sucking on his finger like that, by the time 'hitting the sheets' was mentioned, Fai's heart was fluttering at the thought. Somehow, somehow he managed to keep it cool, however.

(God only knows how. Hidden reserves of willpower, apparently.)

"You think so~?" Iwai's tone may not have been joking, but there was a teasing edge to Fai's voice as he asked, his good eye peering imperiously at the other man. "And who says there's going to be any of that, mister? Just because you give a guy flowers and sit him on your lap, suddenly he's just going to fall into bed with you~?"

"Whaaaat? What kind of girl do you think I am?" But he couldn't keep the act up for long and didn't particularly feel the need to, so before he'd even finished asking the question his usual, mischievous grin was back in full force.

But at the same time it was a good lead-in to fussing over his boyfriend. Scarred fingertips (now clean of cheesecake) scritched along the stubble on Iwai's jawline. "You think just because you're handsome and sweet and thoughtful and amazing that I'm going to fall for you?"

As if he hadn't already done that months ago. But Iwai deserved to hear the laundry list of wonderful things about himself from time to time, and Fai had no problem repeating it.
