do. drawing in the city

[ Due to some recent... developments... Tsukasa's been putting a lot more effort into keeping himself busy, and that chiefly involves getting better at drawing people. Landscapes, flora, all of that? He's perfectly great at, albeit his style errs more on a loose, flighty style of watercolor.

But again. Getting better at drawing people. He can be found at a few of the parks doing studies on people, couples, animals, you... all of that. Looking vaguely frustrated and, at one point, just kind of. flopping back in the grass with the world's loudest groan.

Not that his attempts at it at the square are much better, where he ends up laying on the fountain's edge, looking at the water like he's considering rolling into it.

......Yeah, it really isn't going well. ]

re. drawing out of the city

[ "Maybe I'll have better luck somewhere new," he said, and then went to Pesgare one weekend when he wasn't busy.

Except Tsukasa doesn't handle boats well, so on the way he can be found leaning on the railing and looking more than a little miserable. He prefers these to like, airplanes? Definitely? But... boats... Three hours of this is awful, like at least it isn't walking into heat but Respartum had only been like an hour away...!?

When he's there though, he can be found resting his poor stomach on the side of the road for a bit before he starts sketching again. Those with a keen eye will notice, though, that he ends up drawing the sights more than the people... Pesgare is beautiful, and he needs to practice architecture anyway... ♪ Even if he's supposed to be focusing on people.

He can also be found just around, taking in the sights and... in the marketplace, taking in the smells. And the bakeries. And— look, he likes food, shush. Are you reaching for that last chocolat au pain or other tasty treat too? Tsukasa'll back off with an "Ah, sorry," though he'll look a little put-out at not being able to have it himself. ]

Girlfriend. Miss Charminghat likes showing off for... [ ...oh, she's not in right now. tsukasa clicks his tongue, but rests against miss charminghat's stall. ] Ahhh, she's out, but it's a lovely palomino... They were stabled around the same time, so they became really good friends, and they like riding together, eating at the same time, get jealous when one of them's getting attention with the other around... Stuff like that.

[ he'll go ahead and stroke her some more then! such a cute mare... maybe he should ask tsukasa if he can ride her or any of them here but he's suddenly curious about one other thing. ]

Do you guys raise baby horses and chocobos here too?

Um, well, most of the stallions that come in are geldings—that is, they've been neutered—and we separate male and female chocobos...

But sometimes people won't be able to take care of their foals or chicobos—that's what baby chocobos are called—at their own stables, or they figured out it was a lot harder to take care of them not too long into ownership after someone's birthday, so they send them here, yes. [ he's trying to think of if they have any right now though...? ] We're not a sanctuary or anything like that—the stables does primarily function as a boarding house, and the school is a school—but it isn't as if we can turn away those kinds of things either... Normal pet shelters can't take care of them properly.

How long have you been working here, anyway?

...More than a year now... A year and a half, maybe...? [ that sounds about right? ] I was studying horses on my own before that though...~ I've always loved them, so it was natural that I'd want to do that and work with them when I could.

Hm? Does that mean you'd want to work here full-time once you're done with schooling?

[ this is too much of a cushy job though, cute animals aside... ]

That's right. [ ♪♪♪ hitting all those good conversation choices today, senpai. ] Mm, I'd like to become a doctor for the stables specifically... It'd make me really happy to be able to watch over all of them and make sure they stay nice and healthy.

[ no one's told him he's going to have to put down horses yet. no one's told him anything even vaguely horrifying about being a vet tbh ]

Foals first? I've already seen my share of chocobos so maybe they're just larger chickens.

not untrue, so tsukasa'll lead him... out to one of the smaller paddocks, he knows a few should be out right now—a few mares watch the two of them curiously from the ones beside the one they're going to, and the two foals in the paddock proper turn their ears over and lift their heads.

These two are brother and sister... Ah, date-wise, anyway. They're obviously from two different dams... Shooting Star [ a motion to one that's brown with a white stripe down his face ] and Erasure. [ and a motion to little miss white and black over there ] They're... seven months now, just about. ♪ When they hit the twelve month mark, we start calling them yearlings, and then sometime around three or four years we start calling them mares and stallions.

[ uwahh -- ] They're only less than a year old?

[ they're so big and beautiful already... he's going to cautiously approach them first, holding a hand out to Erasure for her to sniff before he's allowed to pet them. ]

Erasure... That's an interesting name.

[ it's really badass, damn. he turns his head to tsukasa, still smiling. ]

Do you have your own horse here, Kasa-kun? Or maybe a chocobo.

[ it's not as badass as sena thinks it is, the horse is named after the band. ]

Ah, well... No, not really. I have a few I think of as my own just because I end up looking after them the most when I'm on duty, but they officially belong to either the stables or, well—people in Recollé. Butterscotch is really nice. [ and his personal most favorite horse, right up there with tourmaline. tsukasa smiles slightly, stepping over to shooting star make sure he's not being left out in the attention getting. ] My parents won't even let me have a normal pet, Sena-senpai. I don't think they'd agree to either of those.

[ the suzakura household is just strict like that, and he watches sena for a moment more before he turns his gaze to the colt and starts loosely braiding his mane. ]

I'm sure they'd think it'd just distract me... and they'd probably be right. Letting me work here's kind of a compromise, even if ever since I started over a year ago I've just wanted to spend more and more time here instead of at home. [ which is a troubling admittance, and that's clear in the crease of his forehead. ] It's not like I hate being at home or anything like that? Baba's good company, and I don't like her getting lonely, but... Mmm, I don't know.

[ he hums thoughtfully, mindlessly stroking more of erasure's soft fur. that really sucks, he thinks, remembering how his parents dissuaded him from keeping a stray cat when he was younger because - yeah, it'd just be a distraction. though unlike the suzakuras, the senas don't really care for much over the years, leaving mizuki a lot loneliner than intended.

It's not like you're planning to run away from them anytime soon, right? [ HAHA... HAAAAA ] I mean, from what I've learned about your parents so far, I don't blame you for staying out more often than not. Gotta embrace more of that freedom while you still can.

[ mizuki has way too much free time on his hands despite his workaholic tendencies, and that's the problem. ]

Maybe you should try convincing them again, since you're old enough. [ and hat he'll be celebrating his birthday a month from now ] Start with something small first, I guess? Like keeping goldfish or koi.

[ it was already a battle to convince them he could handle public school, his job, and whatever other homework they decided to give him... which is still a bit of a stressful burden, especially with their perfectionism. and his perfectionism. tsukasa keeps his eyes on his task, lips pressing together in frustration before he forces himself to let it go and sigh instead. ]

It's a lot easier said than done. [ polite and distant, a little final. it... isn't that he doesn't trust sena, or something, but it isn't... something he wants to talk about at length. his family's difficult to discuss. he isn't looking forward to may, when it becomes almost unbearable. ] Besides, I'm happy just being able to take care of everyone here~. And I get to see Nori-tan, Hinata's cat, a lot too... And Natalia has a cute puppy named Porsche, and Nazuna has Tsuchin... So it's okay.
