MARCH EVENT LOG

EVENT
FOUNDER'S DAY
The city of Recollé. With everything that happened in the last month, the townspeople are excited to proceed with their festivities as normal. The Mayor, though a little wary of public appearances now, makes his way through town atop his beloved Chocobo, Seabiscuit, a megaphone in his hand and shouting to everyone he passes.

"Welcome to Founder's Day! Let's do our part and celebrate the city that we love."

I.
At noon sharp, the bands strikes up again as crowds gather around Tribunal Terrace. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main attraction! That's right, it's time for the annual Founder's Day Parade featuring the city's newly elected royalty: King Yogi Perowna, Queen Kara Lee, Prince Kasen Kaneda, Princess Elizabeth Velveteen , Duke Garfield Logan, and Duchess Charlotte Williams. The marching bands play with gusto as they stride through the streets, the Recollé High and Recollé University cheerleaders right behind them. Beautiful floats follow in their wake, all decorated with flowers and depicting the historical events of the city.

At the head of the parade is the Mayor on Seabiscuit, proudly trotting up front with the head of police, the head of the fire house and the rest of those who had been kidnapped following right after them on another float. Looking no worse for the wear, they're all smiles and grandeur waving and greeting the citizens of the city.

At the end of the parade, the Mayor remains in Tribunal Terrace and steps up to the mic.

"We would like to give a special thanks to those brave enough to venture into the tunnels to rescue us. Our captors have been dealt with and today we will honor our rescue team for their service."

If present at this time, Eleanor Lamb, Yoon-sung Lee, Lucy Takada, Hinata Aoi, Sakura Tohsaka, Frederick Baudin, Tatsuo Kihara, Elizabeth Velveteen, Yukiko Amagi, Tatsuma Hiyuu, Jirou Hirata, Kenta Ooshima, Alexander Von Cumore, Rossiu Adai, and Kurt Wagner will be invited up to the front to receive a medal of honor. It's a shiny golden Chocobo.

Like other Founder's Day celebrations in the past, several shops across the city have discount sales on items in the Towers, coffee drinks at Expressive, a marathon of historical films at Flix and more. Celebrate your home if you'd like. It's a nice break from it all.

II.

But what about those of you who have been city-bound for the whole month? What about those of you who have spent the last month exploring the boundaries outside of the city and helping to build the roads to new destinations? Thanks to the efforts of Retrospec users, several locations have now been stabilized and users may explore these areas to their heart's content. With Pesgare three hours south by boat, Respatrum an hour east and underground, Bosuma two hours west through the Recollé Woods and Magatus seven hours north from the city, visitors may come and go to explore the regions and their points of interest.

The travel may take some time and the scenery will change around you as you go. Those same monsters from before continue to lurk just outside of the city and on the path to these locations and wild flora sprawls over various pathways. Take some time to study them if you'd like.

And speaking of study, along the way you'll find various road signs and warnings along the way including giant man-eating frogs, fire-breathing horses, severe flood warnings and more. In addition you will find large directories in the middle of the road pointing you in the directions of the four locations.

What's going on in these other places though? Well....

III.
Over in Pesgare the fishing village has been saved from the hands of a greedy buyer and the villagers are in the midst of celebration. After the big rainstorm that occurred at the end of February, the seaside village begins setting out wares for sale in their marketplace that buyers may peruse. Items for sale include fish, paintings, clothing, books, handmade jewelry and more.

On occasion though, you may find yourself in the midst of another rain shower as they come periodically in this area. While some of you may be prepared and have an umbrella on hand, others will notice that the rain is an iridescent color that falls and curves in arcs. Getting soaked by the rain may invoke a strange desire to cause a scene and yell dramatically at whoever is close by (and perhaps even belt it out if you're unfortunately unlucky), and so it may be wise to find shelter soon before you say things you'll come to regret.

IV.
Meanwhile in Respatrum the workers continue on down in the forge and begin creating new wares with the gems discovered by the exploration group from the month before. It's hot down here, boiling almost and the fires on all side means the heat's not letting up anytime soon. With caves and walkways and forges to explore, you may find yourself observing the creation of silver platters, swords, furniture and more.

Further down in the region in one of the lower rings, you may hear the sound of loud cheering and applause as you enter into a large stadium. In the center of the ring is a man with a red cape, waving it in front of a burning, burly bull. A final flourish sends the bull back into its pen, raring and ready to go the next round.

Who's up next? Why, it's you! Without warning the organizer of the bull fights grabs you by the shoulders and hands you a cape, shoving you straight into the ring with the crowd roaring above you and the bull bursting out of its cage. Think fast! Your life may depend on it.

V.

Out in Bosuma, the color's been restored to several of the flowers and trees and the people of the forest have been returned to their cottages. The creatures of the forest appear to be out and around including rabbits, squirrels, giant woodpeckers and rainbow-colored deer that aren't afraid to approach people. In fact, all of the creatures appear content to welcome these newcomers and show them around the forest.

It's at night when the real show starts. Several large, blooming flowers begin to glow in various neon colors. For those who stick around and walk through the large gardens, they'll notice that colored pollen also appears to be falling from the flowers, leaving a mist over you that sweeps over you like a soft waterfall. Depending on the color though, you may find yourself feeling a little different...will you fight or will you embrace these sudden emotions?

VI.

Meanwhile things in Magatus are snowy and blustery as ever, but the townspeople seem to be in higher spirits now that their wolf problem is alleviated. With their shops open for business and the bright colors in the sky, the area is almost peaceful and perfect just to get away from it all.

On occasion, you may see a black wolf darting in and out of the shadows watching over the town and the people coming to it. The path appears to be clear now and with a little navigating and a bit of a climb, you'll come across the newly up and running ski lodge. Plenty of cozy couches and fireplaces makes this lodge the perfect place to sleep and the rooms the original exploration team went through appear to be outfitted to be sleeping quarters now.

Up on the mountain, however, there will be a fully operating ski lift and several mountain paths for all of you adrenaline junkies wishing to ski, snowboard and more. In fact, several of the locals will even begin teaching lessons and hold competitions for those of you into that kind of thing. Seems pretty safe, right?

But the higher you go, the more you begin to feel like you're floating. In fact, the higher the elevation, the higher you will be lifted off the ground until you cap out floating a foot in the air. How are you going to get back down the mountain? Well, good luck with that.

BONUS.
Several of you may notice that the heart-shaped stone from February still hasn't disappeared. However, as the Founder's Day parade begins all emotional transfer stops.
The heart's color seems to settle and all cracks and fissures are permanent. It's no longer in danger of cracking if you ignore your feelings, but it serves as a reminder that you should take care of yourself.

Later in the day, all Retrospec users will receive a message from Zee.

Assessment passed. We stabilized the four regions and you're no longer in danger of going native if you head out there. Feel free to explore and stuff. There's still a lot out there we don't know about, but it may be best to get a head start.

Oh, and the hearts? Also stable for now. It's...if you feel any different or you realize something's missing, come talk to us? We might be able to fix it.

The RRI will be taking more volunteers for other assignments as things come up. You'll probably hear from me sooner or later.

The hearts will still project the thing that you love to the front of your mind so long as you hold it, but it's in no danger of shattering. Best of luck, Retrospecters.

Welcome to [community profile] recolle's March log! The prompts are simply loose guidelines for you guys to play with and make up your own fun adventures for the entire month! You may also create your own logs or inbox threads based on these prompts.

This will be a fairly lowkey month meant for travel, exploration and recouping from the last month's event! As of 3/3 all groups will ICly be back in the city. The event feedback post will go up on 3/4 along with information about the new world changes that may take place and the upcoming quest board.

Any questions you have regarding this event may be directed to the mod comment here.

[Wanting to shake this guy who looks like him but isn't him, ask him what the hell he thinks he's doing.

Tatsuo drags a hand down his face.]

He's coloring outside the lines and it got someone killed.

blondferret: (serious)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-16 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Derek's voice goes low.]

Are you serious? Who the hell did he kill?
thisloveisjustice: (Default)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-16 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)

[Thanks for jumping right to that, Derek.]

A mid-level yakuza boss. He had one of his employees killed because the employee found out about an arms shipment and was going to expose everything. And then the yakuza killed the employee's wife and almost killed his child. Danno found out who was involved and set up the yakuza so Ryuuzkai could kill him.

[Tatsuo has more to say, but he has to stop a take a drink. Actually, make that finish his drink and ask the bartender for a second.]

blondferret: (disappointed)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-20 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Derek watches at Tatsuo finishes his drink. He trying to take in the new bit of information on this Ikou guy.]

He killed a yakuza because he made a little girl an orphan? Shit.

[Derek picks up his drink and takes another swig.]
thisloveisjustice: (withdrawn)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-20 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Basically.

[Tatsuo looks down at his second drink. He can't entirely blame Ryuuzaki for his anger over the girl's family. The empathy he'd felt for the little girl had been gut-wrenching. It was an empathy Tatsuo himself felt to a certain degree.]

There were two problems. The yakuza had a partner, a dirty cop selling confiscated drugs on the black market. And a witness to the original murder. The dirty cop accused the witness of the death of the yakuza boss, which drove the witness into hiding and kept Ryuuzaki from being able to talk with the witness.

[He takes a long sip from his glass]

And when that didn't bury the base, the dirty cop murdered the witness.
blondferret: (what)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-22 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Please give Derek a moment as he tries to organize all the information.]

Wait so... there's the Yakuza and they had a partner. The partner was the dirty cop. And then there was a witness to a murder. The dirty cop accuses the witness of the yakuza boss... I'm confused. The dirty cop that worked for the yakuza, killed a yakuza boss and pinned it on a witness to a different murder or the murder of the yakuza boss?
thisloveisjustice: (clueless)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-22 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
No... I... sorry... that did come out a bit convoluted...

[Tatsuo puts his two glasses next to each other]

There's the yakuza boss and the dirty cop. Then there's....

[Tatsuo grabs a couple extra drink coasters. He places one next to the two glasses and one a little distance away.]

Murder victim.

[taps the coaster next to the two glasses]

Witness.

[taps the 2nd coaster]

Yakuza boss and dirty cop drop the victim off a parking garage roof.

[Tatsuo drops the 'victim' off the side of the bar, catching the coaster with his other hand]

The witness sees them and runs.

[he pushes the 2nd coaster further down the bar]

The police come, process the scene. Ryuuzaki and his partner talk to the victim's family. The yakuza boss and the dirty cop get nervous and try to kill the victim's family. Only the daughter survives.

Then someone bumps off the yakuza boss.

[Tatsuo picks up the glass with liquid left in it... and knocks back the whole thing. Then turns it upside down on its coaster.]

The dirty cop, who no one realizes is dirty, goes right to Ryuuzaki and accuses the witness of selling drugs and killing the yakuza boss. Ryuuzaki doesn't believe him and keeps digging. So the dirty cop kills the witness and plants a note confessing to the murder of the yakuza boss on him.

[Tatsuo takes the already empty glass and slides it over to the 2nd coaster]
blondferret: (disappointed)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-23 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Wait...

[Derek followed all of that, except there was one thing missing...]

Who killed the Yakuza boss?
thisloveisjustice: (withdrawn)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-23 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Considering how convoluted this story is...]

Like I said at the beginning... it was Ryuuzaki.
Edited 2018-03-23 06:20 (UTC)
blondferret: (what)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-24 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Derek is still a bit confused.]

You're mad at Ryuuzaki for killing a yakuza boss? Why? And that doesn't make much sense considering you said he was kind of like a dirty cop himself? He's sounding more like vigilante now.
thisloveisjustice: (Default)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-24 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)

Just because Ryuuzaki is working with Danno doesn't make him a dirty cop. Especially if his apartment is anything to go by. It is bare. And he barely has any money in his bank account. Whatever he'd going with Danno, it's not for monetary gain.

[Tatsuo waves at the bartender for another drink]

Anyway, killing the yakuza boss spooked the dirty cop working for him, which caused the dirty cop to murder the witness. The witness wouldn't have died if not for Ryuuzaki's actions.

blondferret: (Default)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-26 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Derek nods as he listens.]

So you're upset that the witness got killed. Was Ryuuzaki close to the witness?
thisloveisjustice: (Default)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-26 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Exactly.

[Tatsuo sips his drink the moment the bartender hands it to him]

They weren't close, but Ryuuzaki had brought him for minor infractions before. Petty thefts, breaking into cars, things like that. When he interviewed him, he didn't feel like the kid was dangerous or anything. Maybe a bit bored... but not a menace. The kid kept asking for food and tried to get Ryuuzaki to actually book him. But Ryuuzaki just... told him to straighten out and call him if he got in trouble. Gave him his cell number and cut him loose.
blondferret: (serious)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-27 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wait... the witness was a kid? How old was he?

[OK, Derek is starting to see where Tatsuo is coming from.]
thisloveisjustice: (Default)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-27 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)

I say 'kid' because he was clearly much younger than Ryuuzaki and... he just kind of had that 'you can't tell me what to do' attitude. He was... early twenties at the most.

blondferret: (disappointed)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-29 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Derek frowns.]

That's way to young to die. So you're upset at Ryuuzaki because if he hadn't killed the Yakuza boss, that young thief would have not died. Please tell me Ryuuzaki brought the dirty cop in.
thisloveisjustice: (withdrawn)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-29 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
[why do you do this to him Derek?

Tatsuo lets out a low 'fuuuuuuck' and buries his face in his hands]

Yes, that's why I'm upset with him. And no, he did not bring the dirty cop in.

[his voice might be slightly muffled by his hands]

He fucking shot him in the same alley where the bastard murdered the kid.
blondferret: (wtf)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-03-30 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Wait... so everyone dies? Was he even a competent cop? What did his partner think?

[Seriously? What is with this guy? Did anyone get arrested in this universe?]
thisloveisjustice: (withdrawn)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-03-31 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tatsuo actually feels a small flash of defensiveness at the suggestion Ryuuzaki isn't a competent cop.]

Excuse you, he's actually quite competent. He has the highest arrest rate in his division. If it hadn't been for him, Nishida's murder would have been written off as a suicide, even by his own partner. He even figured out that Ishimori was a dirty cop on his own. Smelled the drugs on him like a bloodhound.

[He takes a long sip from his drink. And kind of skips over the question of what Ryuuzaki's partner thinks. Besides, it's a vague question anyway.]

And not everyone dies. Nishida's daughter, Yikina, she survives.
blondferret: (disappointed)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-04-04 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
And how hold was Yikina? And he smelled it? The drugs? Does that mean you can smell if someone has drugs on him?
thisloveisjustice: (Default)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-04-04 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)

She was young, maybe ten, twelve at most?

[Which just makes what happened to her even worse. To lose her family at that age. Tatsuo knows what it feels like.]

As for the drugs, I haven't tested it personally. Mostly because it wasn't that he had the drugs on him, but that he'd been using them.

blondferret: (relaxed)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-04-06 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
So what happened to her? Did she end up in a foster home? Also, I sort of want to test your nose and see what all it can smell. Though I have no idea how to.
thisloveisjustice: (Default)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-04-06 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
She went to live with her aunt in the countryside.

[then Tatsuo grins]

I could tell you what you ate for lunch.
blondferret: (you can't be serious)

[personal profile] blondferret 2018-04-07 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh really? Then pray tell what did I eat?
thisloveisjustice: (Default)

[personal profile] thisloveisjustice 2018-04-08 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Tatsuo leans in close to Derek, though he doesn't really need to. Then he gives a long, exaggerated, and equally unnecessary sniff.]

Earl grey tea, blueberry scones with butter, and eggs... over easy? with pepper.
