FOUNDER'S DAY The city of Recollé. With everything that happened in the last month, the townspeople are excited to proceed with their festivities as normal. The Mayor, though a little wary of public appearances now, makes his way through town atop his beloved Chocobo, Seabiscuit, a megaphone in his hand and shouting to everyone he passes. "Welcome to Founder's Day! Let's do our part and celebrate the city that we love." I. At noon sharp, the bands strikes up again as crowds gather around Tribunal Terrace. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main attraction! That's right, it's time for the annual Founder's Day Parade featuring the city's newly elected royalty: King Yogi Perowna, Queen Kara Lee, Prince Kasen Kaneda, Princess Elizabeth Velveteen , Duke Garfield Logan, and Duchess Charlotte Williams. The marching bands play with gusto as they stride through the streets, the Recollé High and Recollé University cheerleaders right behind them. Beautiful floats follow in their wake, all decorated with flowers and depicting the historical events of the city. At the head of the parade is the Mayor on Seabiscuit, proudly trotting up front with the head of police, the head of the fire house and the rest of those who had been kidnapped following right after them on another float. Looking no worse for the wear, they're all smiles and grandeur waving and greeting the citizens of the city. At the end of the parade, the Mayor remains in Tribunal Terrace and steps up to the mic. "We would like to give a special thanks to those brave enough to venture into the tunnels to rescue us. Our captors have been dealt with and today we will honor our rescue team for their service." If present at this time, Eleanor Lamb, Yoon-sung Lee, Lucy Takada, Hinata Aoi, Sakura Tohsaka, Frederick Baudin, Tatsuo Kihara, Elizabeth Velveteen, Yukiko Amagi, Tatsuma Hiyuu, Jirou Hirata, Kenta Ooshima, Alexander Von Cumore, Rossiu Adai, and Kurt Wagner will be invited up to the front to receive a medal of honor. It's a shiny golden Chocobo. Like other Founder's Day celebrations in the past, several shops across the city have discount sales on items in the Towers, coffee drinks at Expressive, a marathon of historical films at Flix and more. Celebrate your home if you'd like. It's a nice break from it all. II. But what about those of you who have been city-bound for the whole month? What about those of you who have spent the last month exploring the boundaries outside of the city and helping to build the roads to new destinations? Thanks to the efforts of Retrospec users, several locations have now been stabilized and users may explore these areas to their heart's content. With Pesgare three hours south by boat, Respatrum an hour east and underground, Bosuma two hours west through the Recollé Woods and Magatus seven hours north from the city, visitors may come and go to explore the regions and their points of interest. The travel may take some time and the scenery will change around you as you go. Those same monsters from before continue to lurk just outside of the city and on the path to these locations and wild flora sprawls over various pathways. Take some time to study them if you'd like. And speaking of study, along the way you'll find various road signs and warnings along the way including giant man-eating frogs, fire-breathing horses, severe flood warnings and more. In addition you will find large directories in the middle of the road pointing you in the directions of the four locations. What's going on in these other places though? Well.... III. Over in Pesgare the fishing village has been saved from the hands of a greedy buyer and the villagers are in the midst of celebration. After the big rainstorm that occurred at the end of February, the seaside village begins setting out wares for sale in their marketplace that buyers may peruse. Items for sale include fish, paintings, clothing, books, handmade jewelry and more. On occasion though, you may find yourself in the midst of another rain shower as they come periodically in this area. While some of you may be prepared and have an umbrella on hand, others will notice that the rain is an iridescent color that falls and curves in arcs. Getting soaked by the rain may invoke a strange desire to cause a scene and yell dramatically at whoever is close by (and perhaps even belt it out if you're unfortunately unlucky), and so it may be wise to find shelter soon before you say things you'll come to regret. IV. Meanwhile in Respatrum the workers continue on down in the forge and begin creating new wares with the gems discovered by the exploration group from the month before. It's hot down here, boiling almost and the fires on all side means the heat's not letting up anytime soon. With caves and walkways and forges to explore, you may find yourself observing the creation of silver platters, swords, furniture and more. Further down in the region in one of the lower rings, you may hear the sound of loud cheering and applause as you enter into a large stadium. In the center of the ring is a man with a red cape, waving it in front of a burning, burly bull. A final flourish sends the bull back into its pen, raring and ready to go the next round. Who's up next? Why, it's you! Without warning the organizer of the bull fights grabs you by the shoulders and hands you a cape, shoving you straight into the ring with the crowd roaring above you and the bull bursting out of its cage. Think fast! Your life may depend on it. V. Out in Bosuma, the color's been restored to several of the flowers and trees and the people of the forest have been returned to their cottages. The creatures of the forest appear to be out and around including rabbits, squirrels, giant woodpeckers and rainbow-colored deer that aren't afraid to approach people. In fact, all of the creatures appear content to welcome these newcomers and show them around the forest. It's at night when the real show starts. Several large, blooming flowers begin to glow in various neon colors. For those who stick around and walk through the large gardens, they'll notice that colored pollen also appears to be falling from the flowers, leaving a mist over you that sweeps over you like a soft waterfall. Depending on the color though, you may find yourself feeling a little different...will you fight or will you embrace these sudden emotions? VI. Meanwhile things in Magatus are snowy and blustery as ever, but the townspeople seem to be in higher spirits now that their wolf problem is alleviated. With their shops open for business and the bright colors in the sky, the area is almost peaceful and perfect just to get away from it all. On occasion, you may see a black wolf darting in and out of the shadows watching over the town and the people coming to it. The path appears to be clear now and with a little navigating and a bit of a climb, you'll come across the newly up and running ski lodge. Plenty of cozy couches and fireplaces makes this lodge the perfect place to sleep and the rooms the original exploration team went through appear to be outfitted to be sleeping quarters now. Up on the mountain, however, there will be a fully operating ski lift and several mountain paths for all of you adrenaline junkies wishing to ski, snowboard and more. In fact, several of the locals will even begin teaching lessons and hold competitions for those of you into that kind of thing. Seems pretty safe, right? But the higher you go, the more you begin to feel like you're floating. In fact, the higher the elevation, the higher you will be lifted off the ground until you cap out floating a foot in the air. How are you going to get back down the mountain? Well, good luck with that. BONUS. Several of you may notice that the heart-shaped stone from February still hasn't disappeared. However, as the Founder's Day parade begins all emotional transfer stops. The heart's color seems to settle and all cracks and fissures are permanent. It's no longer in danger of cracking if you ignore your feelings, but it serves as a reminder that you should take care of yourself. Later in the day, all Retrospec users will receive a message from Zee. Assessment passed. We stabilized the four regions and you're no longer in danger of going native if you head out there. Feel free to explore and stuff. There's still a lot out there we don't know about, but it may be best to get a head start. Oh, and the hearts? Also stable for now. It's...if you feel any different or you realize something's missing, come talk to us? We might be able to fix it. The RRI will be taking more volunteers for other assignments as things come up. You'll probably hear from me sooner or later. The hearts will still project the thing that you love to the front of your mind so long as you hold it, but it's in no danger of shattering. I — Duchess Charlotte

[ Charlotte is beside herself when she gets notified of her win. Sure, it's not Queen, but it's still pretty good! Besides "Duchess Charlotte" still has a regal ring to it. She likes it. She puts on her best smile and waves to the crowd as they pass by, genuinely happy to be there and part of the excitement. ]

Oh, thank you so much for voting for me! I'll do my best as your new Duchess, tee hee!

[ After the parade, she's still floating on Cloud Nine, greeting everyone she can. ]

Did you enjoy the parade? I'll allow you to kiss my hand if you like. It's not every day you get to speak with royalty after all. [ She holds out her hand expectantly. ]

V — Flowers and Stuff

[ Charlotte loves flowers, so she's easily drawn to Bosuma. She's been meaning to get to the area anyway, so what better time than now? She's a little startled by the rainbow deer, but like a Disney princess, she quickly adapts and allows the creatures to show her the forest. She has such a good time that she even stays until dark, when the neon flowers begin to bloom!

It just so happens that she's passing by when an orange one mists her. She waves her hands and sputters a little, not expecting it no matter how light. ] Ugh, what was that?! I—

[ she suddenly stops, eyes widening a little. Moments later, her hands go to clutch her stomach and she falls to her knees. ]

Oh god. I'm so...... hungry!! [ Suddenly she's absolutely ravenous. And if she hasn't already caught your attention, she's waving you down now. ] Do you have anything to eat?! I'm dying here!

[He looks down at her hand apprehensively.]

Am I going to get something weird from you? I'd rather not get sick dude.

[Rude. That's no way to talk to a lady. She can say so.]

Only kids say things like that.

[ Wait, how old is this kid? She peers at him....

And then drops her mouth open a little in surprise. The rudeness! ]

What?! How dare you! I don't have any diseases or anything!

You mean I won't get cooties from kissing your hands? I've never heard that one before.

[Sorry Charlotte!!! He's 15 and there's plenty of children his age who act younger than that. ]

I don't think I'm brave enough to try either way. Someone in my class is gonna laugh at me for it.

[Nanashi buries his hands into his face.]

Of course not! That's very rude of you to even consider! Do I look dirty to you?

[ He better not say yes. ]

Hmph! So you're just a sheep who will follow whatever his classmates think of him? That's fine then, perhaps you're unworthy of kissing the hand of royalty after all.

Uh, yeah. No offense.

[THAT'S OFFENSIVE.]

It's not like that. I've got a reputation to keep up, you know? Don't want people looking at me weird for being uncool. [Reputation is everything in highschool!! Teens care too much about their appearance and how other people see them. That's no reason to be rude to a lady though.]

You wouldn't understand your highness.

[convincing]

What?! How rude!

[ She does not look dirty!! She clenches her teeth, balling her hands up in fists. This kid has a mouth on him. It's totally uncute! ]

There's nothing uncool about being seen with me. I guarantee it!

And of course I don't understand! All you're doing is spewing rude comments and trying to act cool!

[reaquila]

What did you expect? I'm not good with this.

Seriously. I think I'd rather die than kiss a girl's hand....

[He is incredibly rude and deserves to be slapped.]

Did you find anyone who'd be wiling to???

[convincing]

What?! It's that bad? You're exaggerating!

[ She won't be held responsible for slapping a kid. But she is Very Offended and not afraid to show it. ]

Of course I did! Guys could line up waiting for a kiss from someone like me!

I haven't been exaggerating....

[Nanashi's going to cry. It's that bad, yes. He's just a simpleminded teenager who doesn't know how to treat a lady with respect. At this rate, he may never find a girlfriend....]

Guess I'm just blind. I can't see the appeal in all this.

[convincing]

Yes you have! You definitely have!

[ He deserves to cry if that's how he's gonna act! So there! ]

You must be! Because I'm a total catch! Any guy would kill to be standing where you are right now!

[ Raising his eyebrows, he didn’t expect the guard to be here parading as a duchess, but he isn’t judging. If they’re going to give you a role to play, why not have fun with it?

Let’s pretend to be shocked. ]

Me? Kiss the hand of royalty? I am certainly not worthy...

[ He’s definitely a peasant. Meow. His cat’s head pops out of the bag, staring at her. Just a peasant and his cat. ]

[convincing]

[ Oh it's this kid. Well, everyone deserves a chance to meet with royalty once in their lives at the very least! She isn't judging either. ]

Today is a special day! Everyone is worthy today.

[ She insists, wiggling her fingers a little. Then she looks at the cat as it pops out to stare at her. ]

Oh, what a cute cat!

[maskreant]

[ He kind of snickers when he sees her fingers wiggle. Someone sure is excited about playing their role. Kisses won't be had just yet since his cat is brought to the spotlight.

Reaching over, he gently scratches his cat's head to soothe him. ]

He didn't want me to leave, so here we are. [ There's a thoughtful hum. ] Haven't seen him yet? Sometimes he comes with me to campus.

[convincing]

[ She won't forget he never kissed her hand though, so he best get with it!

For now, she watches the cat and smiles a bit as he's scratched. ]

So you just brought him with? He's really well behaved to just stay with you like that!

[ she shakes her head. ] I guess I never noticed him before.

[maskreant]

[ Unfortunately, he has already forgotten about kissing the Duchess' hand over talking about his cat. He even lets her hand gently drop with his fleeting interest. ]

Yeah, he's usually well behaved aside from... Some small things, but he's a good boy.

[ Morrigan meows—and then Akira's eyes glint, now remembering the original offer. ]

Would you say he's also worthy of your hand?

[convincing]

That's impressive! I always did like cats.

[ She smiles for a moment, then blinks at the question. It's not one she was expecting! But she'll hold out her hand to the cat after a beat. ]

I would say so! If he's interested in things like royalty.

[maskreant]

[ Would she still let his cat kiss her hand if she knew he's a burglar? Kitty likes to bring gifts home... From other people's homes. It's fine.

Morrigan is very okay with this, even happy to do this since she is a very attractive woman. With a little purr, he brushes his cheek against her hand instead, not at all understanding what it means to kiss it. ]

Well, he tried. That's what matters, right?

[convincing]

[ As long as the gifts aren't from her home...maybe....

What girl doesn't appreciate a little rub from a kitty though? She smiles and gives him a pet, scratching behind the ears. ]

That was good enough for me! He's a real cutie.

[maskreant]

[ Uhm... Well, let's hope she isn't missing any socks.

Morrigan purrs like crazy when she pets him, enjoying every single second. ]

He's only a cutie if you're a cute girl, really... He was never that interested in my guy friends.

[ Kitty is a casanova. ]

Got any royalty perks yet?

[convincing]

[ Not that she's aware of! ... Yet.

But she's enjoying giving the cat attention. He's just too sweet! ]

Oh, really? He's a real ladies' man then. Or a ladies' cat. Well, that's fine!

[ Nothing wrong with that in her book. She quickly shakes her head though, dropping her hand. ]

None yet! I'm sure those are coming later... maybe?

[ Redžo happens to be passing by as prompt 1 is happening to someone else. He doesn't immediately recognize the voice (and wasn't paying attention when they announced the court earlier), and turns his head to get a look at what the festival royalty is weari--

Oh, damn it.

And of course since he had to look when he was directly behind the person she was talking to, he accidentally made eye contact.

Well. After that last conversation, he probably can't get away with just leaving, so. He'll just stand back here and smile until it's his turn to deliver some bullshit pleasantries. ]

[ Charlotte is glowing in her new position as Duchess, enjoying the attention she's getting from various admirers. But then she sees Redžo. That jerk. Damn him for looking so handsome today. She waits until the person she's conversing with leaves and then hmphs to herself, looking directly at him. ]

Well. Look at what the cat dragged in.


[ Then she puts on her sweetest smile, speaking up louder. ]

Oh, hello! Out enjoying the festivities today?

[ Well, his cat only drags in things of the highest quality. (Figuratively. Hell if he's ever letting her out of the apartment. She's not that fat cat from his memories that goes everywhere.)

He steps forward into the space the other person's departure leaves and gives a slight shrug. ]

It seemed like a nice enough way to unwind and celebrate being back after so much time away.

[ He looks her over now that he's got a better view -- definitely just judging the quality of the seams. You know. ]

So, congratulations. Nobility is a good look on you.

[ Oh she knows he's high quality, but she'll pretend otherwise while she's still kind of sore over that not being contacted thing.

But she's all smiles and good behavior in front of him. ]

Ah, that's right! Well I agree, it's a great way to celebrate.

[ She blushes at the look-over, bringing a hand to her cheek. Of course she'll soak up any and all attention. ]
