FOUNDER'S DAY The city of Recollé. With everything that happened in the last month, the townspeople are excited to proceed with their festivities as normal. The Mayor, though a little wary of public appearances now, makes his way through town atop his beloved Chocobo, Seabiscuit, a megaphone in his hand and shouting to everyone he passes. "Welcome to Founder's Day! Let's do our part and celebrate the city that we love." I. At noon sharp, the bands strikes up again as crowds gather around Tribunal Terrace. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main attraction! That's right, it's time for the annual Founder's Day Parade featuring the city's newly elected royalty: King Yogi Perowna, Queen Kara Lee, Prince Kasen Kaneda, Princess Elizabeth Velveteen , Duke Garfield Logan, and Duchess Charlotte Williams. The marching bands play with gusto as they stride through the streets, the Recollé High and Recollé University cheerleaders right behind them. Beautiful floats follow in their wake, all decorated with flowers and depicting the historical events of the city. At the head of the parade is the Mayor on Seabiscuit, proudly trotting up front with the head of police, the head of the fire house and the rest of those who had been kidnapped following right after them on another float. Looking no worse for the wear, they're all smiles and grandeur waving and greeting the citizens of the city. At the end of the parade, the Mayor remains in Tribunal Terrace and steps up to the mic. "We would like to give a special thanks to those brave enough to venture into the tunnels to rescue us. Our captors have been dealt with and today we will honor our rescue team for their service." If present at this time, Eleanor Lamb, Yoon-sung Lee, Lucy Takada, Hinata Aoi, Sakura Tohsaka, Frederick Baudin, Tatsuo Kihara, Elizabeth Velveteen, Yukiko Amagi, Tatsuma Hiyuu, Jirou Hirata, Kenta Ooshima, Alexander Von Cumore, Rossiu Adai, and Kurt Wagner will be invited up to the front to receive a medal of honor. It's a shiny golden Chocobo. Like other Founder's Day celebrations in the past, several shops across the city have discount sales on items in the Towers, coffee drinks at Expressive, a marathon of historical films at Flix and more. Celebrate your home if you'd like. It's a nice break from it all. II. But what about those of you who have been city-bound for the whole month? What about those of you who have spent the last month exploring the boundaries outside of the city and helping to build the roads to new destinations? Thanks to the efforts of Retrospec users, several locations have now been stabilized and users may explore these areas to their heart's content. With Pesgare three hours south by boat, Respatrum an hour east and underground, Bosuma two hours west through the Recollé Woods and Magatus seven hours north from the city, visitors may come and go to explore the regions and their points of interest. The travel may take some time and the scenery will change around you as you go. Those same monsters from before continue to lurk just outside of the city and on the path to these locations and wild flora sprawls over various pathways. Take some time to study them if you'd like. And speaking of study, along the way you'll find various road signs and warnings along the way including giant man-eating frogs, fire-breathing horses, severe flood warnings and more. In addition you will find large directories in the middle of the road pointing you in the directions of the four locations. What's going on in these other places though? Well.... III. Over in Pesgare the fishing village has been saved from the hands of a greedy buyer and the villagers are in the midst of celebration. After the big rainstorm that occurred at the end of February, the seaside village begins setting out wares for sale in their marketplace that buyers may peruse. Items for sale include fish, paintings, clothing, books, handmade jewelry and more. On occasion though, you may find yourself in the midst of another rain shower as they come periodically in this area. While some of you may be prepared and have an umbrella on hand, others will notice that the rain is an iridescent color that falls and curves in arcs. Getting soaked by the rain may invoke a strange desire to cause a scene and yell dramatically at whoever is close by (and perhaps even belt it out if you're unfortunately unlucky), and so it may be wise to find shelter soon before you say things you'll come to regret. IV. Meanwhile in Respatrum the workers continue on down in the forge and begin creating new wares with the gems discovered by the exploration group from the month before. It's hot down here, boiling almost and the fires on all side means the heat's not letting up anytime soon. With caves and walkways and forges to explore, you may find yourself observing the creation of silver platters, swords, furniture and more. Further down in the region in one of the lower rings, you may hear the sound of loud cheering and applause as you enter into a large stadium. In the center of the ring is a man with a red cape, waving it in front of a burning, burly bull. A final flourish sends the bull back into its pen, raring and ready to go the next round. Who's up next? Why, it's you! Without warning the organizer of the bull fights grabs you by the shoulders and hands you a cape, shoving you straight into the ring with the crowd roaring above you and the bull bursting out of its cage. Think fast! Your life may depend on it. V. Out in Bosuma, the color's been restored to several of the flowers and trees and the people of the forest have been returned to their cottages. The creatures of the forest appear to be out and around including rabbits, squirrels, giant woodpeckers and rainbow-colored deer that aren't afraid to approach people. In fact, all of the creatures appear content to welcome these newcomers and show them around the forest. It's at night when the real show starts. Several large, blooming flowers begin to glow in various neon colors. For those who stick around and walk through the large gardens, they'll notice that colored pollen also appears to be falling from the flowers, leaving a mist over you that sweeps over you like a soft waterfall. Depending on the color though, you may find yourself feeling a little different...will you fight or will you embrace these sudden emotions? VI. Meanwhile things in Magatus are snowy and blustery as ever, but the townspeople seem to be in higher spirits now that their wolf problem is alleviated. With their shops open for business and the bright colors in the sky, the area is almost peaceful and perfect just to get away from it all. On occasion, you may see a black wolf darting in and out of the shadows watching over the town and the people coming to it. The path appears to be clear now and with a little navigating and a bit of a climb, you'll come across the newly up and running ski lodge. Plenty of cozy couches and fireplaces makes this lodge the perfect place to sleep and the rooms the original exploration team went through appear to be outfitted to be sleeping quarters now. Up on the mountain, however, there will be a fully operating ski lift and several mountain paths for all of you adrenaline junkies wishing to ski, snowboard and more. In fact, several of the locals will even begin teaching lessons and hold competitions for those of you into that kind of thing. Seems pretty safe, right? But the higher you go, the more you begin to feel like you're floating. In fact, the higher the elevation, the higher you will be lifted off the ground until you cap out floating a foot in the air. How are you going to get back down the mountain? Well, good luck with that. BONUS. Several of you may notice that the heart-shaped stone from February still hasn't disappeared. However, as the Founder's Day parade begins all emotional transfer stops. The heart's color seems to settle and all cracks and fissures are permanent. It's no longer in danger of cracking if you ignore your feelings, but it serves as a reminder that you should take care of yourself. Later in the day, all Retrospec users will receive a message from Zee. Assessment passed. We stabilized the four regions and you're no longer in danger of going native if you head out there. Feel free to explore and stuff. There's still a lot out there we don't know about, but it may be best to get a head start. Oh, and the hearts? Also stable for now. It's...if you feel any different or you realize something's missing, come talk to us? We might be able to fix it. The RRI will be taking more volunteers for other assignments as things come up. You'll probably hear from me sooner or later. The hearts will still project the thing that you love to the front of your mind so long as you hold it, but it's in no danger of shattering. [Gar just stares kind of blankly. Though he had received a summons to report to the parade, he had been fairly sure it was some sort of formality that all the entrants went through. The grin begins to spread across his face as they hand him his regalia.]

Holy crap, I won. What do we get?! Do I get a key to the city? Can I be Mayor for a day? Wait, if I'm Duke, I outrank the Mayor! I want to give the Mayor orders!

On your knees, peasants, hahaha!

[During the parade itself, Gar spends most of his time flinging confetti at the crowd and behaving in a rather unseemly fashion for royalty. At one point, he climbs to the highest point of the parade float and flies down into the crowd to (his own) rapturous applause, growing enormous eagle's wings. A short while later, he sprouts octopus tentacles and waves at the crowd from four different directions.]

This is probably the greatest day of my life.

[Whenever the parade is done, Gar can be found with a stick he's picked up from somewhere, tapping his friends and also random strangers on the head while affecting a terrible British accent.]

What ho, you scallywag! Be a good chum and show honor to your Duke by offering him your sweetcakes and foodstuffs, what what?

[Gar can be found holding a sword in awed wonder, his eyes starry and wide. Who allowed this? Why was Gar given the chance to be within 50 feet of a sword, let alone hold it? Who knows?]

Gar Logan, superhero, wielder of a sweet-ass sword. ...Hey, can I borrow like, 5000 bucks?

[Anyone standing at the entrance to the ski lodge will find their peaceful ski trip rudely interrupted by a tidal wave of snow spraying them in the face as Gar performs a sharp full stop atop a snowboard.

He actually seems to be pretty decent, judging from the fact that he's still standing.]

C'mon, let's get out there! Last one up the mountain's gotta do the double black diamond!

[Kara, for her part, is staring at her own paper and looks like she's going to faint.]

Queen? Really? Are-- Are you sure they didn't make a mistake?

[Gar is just about giddy with excitement and also probably making the committee Intensely Regret their decision today. He hones in on the only person he knows and grabs her hands, spinning around her in a circle for a moment or two.]

We're royalty! Hahahaha! Look, they like us! This is like, the city popularity contest!

...I mean, I kinda stuffed the ballot by forcing everyone I knew to nominate me, but still!

You think so? I've never actually [gulp] won anything like this before. It wouldn't have happened at any of my old schools, that's for sure. Maybe there's a mistake, but...

[Nervously, she smiles. At least her friend is having fun.]

You'll probably win Prom Queen when we get to senior year, I'm telling ya.

Seriously? I'm still pretty sure they meant Big Kara, but I guess if they really picked me, I should... I dunno. Do that queen wave from the float, I guess?

[Alright, so if Xiaolang HAD to return to Satan's Asshole, aka Respatrum, to make sure his totally-not-girlfriend wandered into a pit of fire or something, he may as well make the most of it. The sword harness he bought during his stay here had been useful, but he needed something more discreet, more user-friendly, if he wanted to try to keep it on his person while exploring these new territories. He sets down his jian on one of the market tables for not even a few minutes, wandering around the booth to investigate their wares, when an awed voice gets him to snap his attention back over to it.

Was... was this guy trying to jack his sword? Seriously??

Something about someone else trying to steal his weapon lights an indignant fire in his chest, and he stomps over to Gar, a hard glare on his face, reaching out a hand to snatch his property back.]

That's not YOURS. You have no right to touch it.

What? It's on sale!

[Not that it's Gar's sword, either, but he bristles slightly at this random weirdo stomping up to him.]

Find your own, man, there's a whole rack right here.

[... Gar. GAR. You're the one with green hair and fangs, you have no right to think this child a weirdo-- although considering he's close to Mio, the color barely gets him to bat an eye.]

That IS mine.

[His voice is tight, terse, bristling right back as he tries to make another grab at his sword. He didn't want to make a scene and get kicked out of the marketplace, but--]

You can go pick whichever is over there yourself. But that one in your hand isn't for purchase.

gar continues to feel faintly irked by this small child, but he at least knows enough not to like, play around with the sword]

Sheesh, calm down and stop swiping! You're gonna cut both our hands open. Just like... back up.

[Gar will carefully lower the sword back onto the rack where he found it.]

And what's so special about this one that you gotta have it, huh?

[The reprimand from this... guy (Seriously, he was like... only a year or two older than he was, from the looks of it? Who was he to tell him what to do--) gets him to wrinkle his nose a little in irritation. 'I know how to handle my own sword' is on the edge of Xiaolang's lips, ready to volley back at this green haired oddball, but he bites it down, opting to keep his hands to his sides and take a step back as requested. Maybe he knew how to do it, but this other guy probably didn't, and no one wants to deal with sliced open hands today.

He waits until Gar settles his sword back onto rack before he moves in to swipe it back up, sliding it into the sheath tucked under his other arm. A bit of a bold move, really, although the sheath does seem to match it...]

Because it belongs to me. [It's said slowly, deliberately, as if trying to explain something to a small(er) child. But, since he hadn't been clear on it before:]

It was from Retrospec. And I don't appreciate other people trying to take it and claim it for themselves.

[There's also like... magical properties and stuff to it too, but Xiaolang's so deep in denial about having any sort of magic that he's not going to mention any of that???]

[ Even if Elliot and Eren are both tired from traveling? Elliot's never been to a Founder's Day celebration, so he wanted to see it at least for a little bit. Poor Eren just got dragged along for the ride.

So when Gar comes across Elliot, he's holding hands with Eren. When he gets poked, he'll look over in surprise- but smile when he sees who it is. ]

Oh hey Gar! Nice to see you!

[He either didn't hear the demands for food, or elected to ignore them]

[ eren’s off duty, off work (but still armed under his jacket, hah), so where else and who else would he be with after a month’s worth of separation? he never really cared for founder’s day, but he didn’t mind taking elliot, especially if he wanted to go. linked hands they are, until eren spots the sound of a menace and immediately turns his head for a well placed stink eye, giving elliot a little tug along until—

he stops. and calls him gar.

this is the kid. god he’s worse in person.

for now, eren stays quiet, slightly towering behind elliot and probably looking like some delinquent with a stare belonging to a man with few friends, pulled back hair, low cut beard and motorcycle wear. ]

[Gar drops the accent after approximately 0.5 seconds because even he can tell that trying to keep it up would be Suffering. He's grinning too widely to pay too much attention to the weirdo standing behind his friend and glowering.]

I got voted onto the Court! I dunno who was in charge of the vote and what they were thinking, but who cares?

Isn't it sweet?! I get to keep the crown!

[Eren please stop looking like a creepy lunatic, he's just a kid. Meanwhile Elliot's smiling and ignoring Eren's glowering]

Really? Oh that's awesome, Gar! Congratulations!

[ he’s too much of a kid with an intense case of i-do-what-i-want syndrome. it’s a good thing elliot has the patience for this sort of thing, and that he’s also an angel in human form to go along with it— not only is eren picky with the people he socializes with, he’s also impatient with the ones that don’t fall in that category. gar, you’re the lucky guy. ]

[ he doesn’t outright say stop or don’t because he’s!!! not that type of guy to elliot!! but he does give his hand a squeeze because his one true wish right now is to please stop giving the baby monkey guns ]

[Kurt watched the parade with a mixture of pride and envy! It was especially awesome to see more of Gar's powers in action. And for him to use his powers so openly without any problems! Cool stuff.

And then, shortly after the parade, he finds himself being poked by the Duke.]

Is... is that a pirate duke? [He squints uncertainly.] I can give you something, I guess. A present from a past king!

[Gar sighs in disappointment. No one appreciates how hard he tries. (He didn't try very hard.]

Look at how awesome this getup is! I'm gonna wear this every day to school from now on.

British? You didn't say anything about tea! [He shakes his head.]

It is a swanky get-up, though. You gonna try to be the duke of high school now too?

[The voice comes from Luna, who is perched on a counter behind him, dressed in a jeans skirt, black leggings, and a pink hoodie. Her legs were swinging, heels tapping against the front of the counter under her. When had she turned up there? Who could even say...]

[Either way, she gives the green boy a sly little grin.]

Depends on what you've got for collateral, I think.

[Gar seems way too quick to offer this up as he turns towards the girl's voice. He's been so engrossed in staring at the sword that she very reasonably could have sneaked up on him, so he only starts a little bit.]

That's gotta be worth like, at least a grand.
