The serpent is an ouroboros. But it's alone on the page.

If this place is still in keeping with Norse mythology, Jörmungandr was often depicted that way. A serpent so large he encircled the earth and held his tail in his jaws. He is a bound creature, like Fenrir was.

[A pause, as she looked at the photos Minako had taken. She hadn't seen any nets or fishing boats, but those were unmistakably harpoons and hooks.]

I wouldn't recommend fishing for it, unless you are a god. Or a giant.

[One almost amused glance at Eren, and then back to the papers in her hand. One seemed to be a piece of a bathymetric map, with deeper water just off the coast circled.]
