WHO: Ai, Luna
WHERE: Ai's house
WHEN: Febaurry 8th
WHAT: Someone is going to get a surprise dinner. Family is important? Something like that, yeah.
WARNINGS: To be announced. For now, nothing, but it might change.
[Even with Luna moving in there really hadn't been a moment to recognize that. Ai supposes that Luna probably wouldn't want such a thing. This probably wouldn't be her last home, after all. Still... It seemed rather cold to do nothing especially considering what date was coming up. Luna, even if she's only known her for a brief time, deserved better than that.
Ai's no chef but there were a few dishes she could cook moderately well. One of them being hamburg steak. The preparation was familiar to her. Something that she could do almost automatically as her thoughts turned to a faint memory. Of moving in with a man she couldn't recognized--taller than her with clearly dyed hair. Something about how empty that scene felt...
Ah, it was best to keep focusing on the meal. That's when she turns around--]
I didn't expect you home so soon! Help me set the table, will you?

[Well. She was going to have to work on that. But she offered her a grin anyway.]
Sure, okay.
[She didn't actually mind chores like this, at least when they were questions instead of demands, and started across the room to help.]
So what's for dinner?
no subject
She smiles back.]
Good.
[She knew that ordering kids around wouldn't usually work. It was best to make it a request.]
Hamburg Steak. It's a bit of a specialty.
no subject
Never had that. So is it hamburger or steak?
[This food is like a riddle! Once the plates are set she comes back to try and peer at what Ai is cooking.]
no subject
[They kind of look like flat, round meatballs.]
See, you grind up the meat and put it together with breadcrumbs and onions. [She hums slightly, tapping another pan that had been pushed to the side.] I also prepared gravy. Usually there's rice, too, but I didn't have the time.
no subject
[But hey, maybe a first time for everything?]
So like, you grind up steak to make it? Isn't that pretty expensive?
no subject
[Always a first.]
No, it's ground hamburger not steak.
no subject
So why's it called steak huh?
no subject
no subject
Okay! What do we have to do now?
no subject
They're just about done--[She moves the pan just slightly.] Could you bring me a plate?
no subject
Tadaa.
[She has clearly already figured out where everything is. That's...good?]
no subject
Okay, now I'll need another plate, please.
no subject
There, all set!
no subject
You're a fast one, Luna.
[She picks up the gravy, pouring it on both plates.]
What do you think?
no subject
It looks great! I bet it tastes good too.
[Yes, she is buttering her up. Not for any specific reason, it's just automatic with her and adults.]
no subject
I sure hope it does. I want to do my best, after all.
no subject
But trust me, you can't do any worse than other places I've been.
no subject
[She gives a giggle of her own as she sits down.]
no subject
You'd probably have to try hard to not do it, really. They...well. [She shrugs as she cuts up her food.] It doesn't matter.
I'm just glad I'm here instead of there!
no subject
[Ai, for all her faults, probably wasn't the worst person. Even if she had begun to remember things about her own past.] I'm glad you're here, Luna.
no subject
Well, I am pretty amazing, so.
[She giggled softly, and then fell silent as she absently chewed on her hamburger steak. Which was tasty. After maybe thirty seconds she looked up again.]
So, I was kinda wondering...how come you're doing the foster thing? I mean, instead of just havin' a kid.
no subject
[That was adorable. That is, until Luna asks her question. She focuses on her food for a moment.]
There's a few reasons for that, I suppose. The main one being pregnant doesn't sound appealing.
no subject
[Luna you are thirteen you have no idea...]
Get through all that and your reward is a little monster!
[She giggled again.]
no subject
Yes, that would be quite a trial.
[Then another giggle.]
Though, I wouldn't call you little.
no subject
I notice you left the monster bit in there.
no subject
[She doubts it.]
no subject
[She does not, however, argue the point. At all. Oops.]
no subject
[The little one being the cat, of course. She giggles again, covering her mouth.]
no subject
[Hey, Luna was warning her, that was fair.]
wow wrong icon
[That is true.]
no subject
Sounds like you would've preferred just getting a kitten, hmm?
