It happens as the two boats are neck and neck, the tentacle rises out from the water again, lunging at the netting off the back of the fishing boat. Startled cries rise up from their new passengers as they all get a much better look at what had them. (But the rest of the creature still doesn't appear.) One last shot before the boats get back into water too shallow for the creature to follow.

Togusa isn't daring to look behind them, merely holding the boat's throttle open and keeping all of his focus on the rocks towards the shore. He can hear Modeste charging up one last attack behind him. "Everybody hold on!"
