open to 18+ || dj turn it up
WHO: Any 18+ characters
WHERE: A nightclub called Quicksilver
WHEN: January 20th, evening
WHAT: Glow-in-the-dark themed night at the club! Minako and Ann would’ve invited all their friends, but anyone else can join in, of course!
WARNINGS: Alcohol consumption, but otherwise nothing too major. Let us know if we need to change this!
LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
[Welcome to Quicksilver. Like many other nightclubs in the city, the onset of 24 hour darkness hasn’t hurt its business in the least. In fact, they’ve decided to capitalize on it by hosting their glow-in-the-dark themed nights more often. When guests turn onto the street, a huge table outside the club is immediately visible, lit up with hundreds of rainbowed glow-in-the-dark merchandise on sale, ranging from regular glowsticks to glow-in-the-dark crowns, bracelets, and necklaces. Not feeling the accessories? Head to the station next to the merch. For a small fee, artists are there, ready and waiting to use glow-in-the-dark face paint as their medium, with your skin as their canvas.
Or characters could’ve come with their own glowsticks, or done their makeup from home, in which case, please head on in!]
SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS
[Quicksilver’s bar, for those of you 21 and over, is fully staffed tonight with several bartenders at work. Need a drink to wind down from all that dancing? Or maybe you feel like turning up instead. There’s a wide variety of drinks available on Quicksilver’s menu, from beers to cocktails to straight up shots of alcohol. Come on over and drink with friends, make new ones, and have a great time! There’s also water bottles available for everyone, including those of you who are underage! Just be sure to drink responsibly and act accordingly; anyone who decides to start a bar fight will be thrown out of the club immediately.
Quicksilver will also be holding an All You Can Drink contest. The contest is 1v1 style; challenge a friend or even the person next to you and see who can drink the most 151 shots. It’s an incredibly strong alcohol that...practically tastes like rubbing alcohol, so good luck to all participants. The prize is a $20 Visa (or Recolle equivalent) gift card for each winner!]
JUST DANCE
[There’s a couple of different DJs playing at the club tonight with a variety of music, mostly of the EDM and hip-hop genres. Each DJ has their own style, some who may fancy your tastes and some who may not; every DJ’s taking song requests tonight, however, so feel free to put in a song and see if the DJ likes what you’ve got! The music’s also blaring through the speakers, so if you’re hanging around outside, feel free to get down out there, too. Show off your moves and feel the beat--the dance floor’s calling!
For those of you who are wallflowers, there may be a few NPCs trying to drag you on the dance floor. They seem very eager about getting everyone to turn up, apparently, so if you’re nearby and chilling on the side, don’t be surprised if someone’s trying to tug you onto the floor with them.]
A MOMENT AWAY
[Getting a little too hot inside and outside the club? A little ways up the street, there are plenty of alleyways to slip off into, if the ambient noise from fellow revelers isn’t too much of a bother. This is where any up close and personal conversations can happen...just be careful not to stumble into someone else’s alleyway.
If none of that is appealing, why not walk a little further? A block away, far enough away that the sounds from the club are nonexistent, there’s a tiny Thai restaurant open and waiting for hungry customers. Anything from the menu is sure to satisfy any midnight munchies.]

[Cleo doesn't need glow-in-the-dark accessories- As she approaches the club in the dark, she can be seen by her glowing eye. It's probably a bit freaky, though the rest of her outfit probably helps her fit in here.
She's avoiding the facepaint like the plague, but she still ends up with several glowing bracelets, including one around her tail, and she looks pretty confused by them.]
II
[Cleo may be too young to drink still, but she can still dance. She tries to wallflower at first, of course, but, well. No one's going to let her. Damn the NPCs. Still, once she actually gets pulled onto the dancefloor, she's actually pretty good, even if she's mostly just copying what she's seeing everyone else do here.
Still, every so often, she's pausing to surreptitiously look for someone she knows so she has an excuse to leave. Come help her! Or drag her back to the dancing, either way.]
II
That's pretty good. Now you dance with me...!

Penelope? I, ah, don't know how to dance with someone, though?!

[It's probably easy for Cleo to make Minako out in the dark, since she's really been done up in glow in the dark paint, in the image of armor over her black dress. Minako, for her part, recognized the outline of Cleo's ears through the crowd.]
Whoa, they really loaded you up on bracelets, huh.
no subject
They did. Because I really didn't want to deal with any paint.

[Freya spends much of her night near the bar. She does her fair share of dancing and egging people on in their drinking contests, but she's being responsible tonight, moderating her drinking and staying where she can keep an eye on several people at once. She's definitely had fun with theme, wearing several of the bracelets and necklaces, and had one of the artists paint around that weird new tribal tattoo of hers.]
[She has been drinking, though, and Freya's normally small concept of personal space's diminished even further; she's likely to greet anyone she even remotely knows by putting an arm around their shoulders before she gets around to saying "hi."]
II.
[Her whole aim tonight was to not think about everything that's been on her mind for the last week, but there comes a point when the late hour and alcohol turn her thoughts that way, regardless.]
[Late into the cold night, when Freya's sure no one's she's looking out for's with anyone weird, she steps outside. Freya leans against the building and stares up at the darkness of the dome, as if it'll give way and show her the stars if she's stubborn enough.]
Wildcard
...Have I told you how amazing you are today?
no subject
Mmm, I don't think you have, [she drawls, not even trying to be convincing.] Go on. I'm listening.
[Pen looked like she's having a blast tonight. Good on her. She really needed tonight.]

[Minako grins up at her roommate, wrapping her arms around Freya's waist in a big hug. She's not completely drunk yet, but she's definitely getting there, her face already flushed and glowing red.]

[Freya chuckles, living the hand around Mina's shoulders to rest on top of her head.] Sorry you don't get a birthday promise this go around.

Can you break dance in that?

1. lit (visual)
[ He's got an LED flower crown, but... it doesn't quite feel like enough, somehow...
He feels like he should get something painted on his face, but he can't quite think of what, and also he's hesitant to shell out the cash for it. So he's just kind of hovering aimlessly, like a jellyfish in an LED flower crown. ]
2. liquid
[ Jamie is a good boy who will not be turning 21 for another two and a half months, so he unfortunately has no shot at winning $20. But he did manage to get some of those glowing ice cubes from one of the bartenders to go in his glass of club soda. So it kind of looks like he's got an adult beverage, but it's a lie.]
3. lit (metaphorical)
[ He is a flower here to decorate the wall. He is the type of flower that will wilt and die if it's moved to a less hospitable environment (the floor). Also, the wall needs him.
There is at least one person who doesn't seem to understand this, which is unpleasant and awkward; perhaps it's an NPC, and you can defend him. Or perhaps it'sy you, it was you all along, just like in an episode of The Twilight Zone. ]
4. lit (with a lighter)
[ There's no smoking indoors, so at some point he ventures out into the chill night air, finds an inconspicuous place to lean, and fucking blazes one.
He's not stingy when it comes to the kind bud, so if you're not a narc or a cop (and legally you HAVE to tell him if you are), feel free to come over and share in the meager bounty (or just chat)! ]
5. lime juice (commonly used as an ingredient in thai cuisine)
[ Inevitably, eventually, he will end up at the Thai place. Will you treat him to a giant thing of pad thai? Cruelly force him to buy his own giant thing of pad thai? Buy your own giant thing of pad thai and let him have some? Or are you, you know, more of the panang curry type? ]
lime juice;
...oh. It's you, hi. I'm not in your way, am I?
[She really hopes she isn't. This chair is so comfy.]

It's Minako! Arisato. [ he clarifies, as though she's not sure which Minako she is?? ]

[Jasmine flat-ironed her hair for the event, and she shows up in clothes that she probably had to borrow from someone else, since the back of her halter top is very open and her pants are very sparkly.
She turns down the face paint at the door, but does end up taking a few glowsticks and glowstick-based accessories, so that by the time the dance is in full swing she's wearing a few rings of neon light around her wrist and neck, plus a simple sort of crown glowstick.
She'd wanted a normal headband without anything silly on it, but apparently glow-in-the-dark club nights are go big or go home, so the headband she did get has some kind of cat, or mouse, or bear ears on it. Regrets.
She feels a little out of place, actually, so the first thing she'll do is offer to take anyone else's jacket.] Here. I'm going to coatroom anyway.
ii. shots! shots! shots!
[Jasmine is not partaking of the shots, but she is providing mitigation. Your mom friend will be here to intervene with water and calling an Uber, or maybe just helping one side of the event tallying shots.
She's not the coddling sort of mom friend, so don't expect someone who'll pat you on the back or hold your hair for you. No, she's all business, which, if that's what you need after reeling away from your ten-shots of death, all the better.
Still, she can be convinced to pick up a strong cocktail or two, especially if you remind her that it won't just be like drinking tasteless burning anymore. Yay for having a sense of taste again!]
iii. a moment away;
[She was probably out back here, originally, to finish a Secret Cigarette, but it's been a few minutes since then and Jasmine is still out here, leaning against the wall. Maybe she's intentionally isolating herself. Maybe she felt overwhelmed in there, stuck in a swirl of sounds and lights that turned into hazes of obtrusive, blurry color. In short, whether self-imposed or overstimulated, she needed the break.
She's silent and brooding until someone else joins her, at which point she might feel cornered. So babysitting mode comes back on.]
Are you hungry? [She isn't, particularly, but it's what she comes to.] It looks like there's a place open down the street.
shots!
Lost 'im in the crowd again...this always happens. [A little sad hiccup before she knocks back another shot.] I hope...he comes back soon...
no subject
When all of those hit you at once, you're going to have trouble seeing him at all. [This could be one of her more barbed criticisms, but something about Jasmine's tone marks it as gentle teasing instead. She takes a seat with her, removing her stupid glow-in-the-dark ears.]

Which she's definitely indulging in. If she's gonna be here, she might as well have fun, and she's decked out with a crown and bracelets and paint.
But of course the one night she goes, her little sister surprisingly is too. For a second she considers just trying to get by as if she never saw her, but Jasmine looks so stiff and out of place, it's almost sad.]
Relax, I'll take it. Why don't you go grab a drink first?
no subject
I didn't know you were coming. [That's a good way to broach the topic without throwing any punches. Rose might be out of her element here, too, but at least she has a more chameleon-like ability to fit in, flower in the eye aside.]
I don't need a drink in my hand yet. [She doesn't need to jump on the inebriation train like it's a safety line. Jasmine stops; she's being a bitch for no reason.] Thanks, though, I just might. What are you going to have?
