[ Things that are a struggle for Mio Sonozaki: finding the perfect outfit for a date. Of course, the other struggles include dealing with memories that make her feel sick to her stomach. She hasn't had the chance to tell anybody about it yet. And no way, no way would she tell her sister about something like this.

Out of everyone, she couldn't tell Kotone that.

It would only hurt her.

But today's supposed to be a happy day, today - she's going out on a date! So she makes sure to dress up nice, her hair even tied up with a yellow ribbon so whenever she's ready to get picked up, she'll be right at the door with a smile; but she doesn't seem to exactly be the happiest, something that can be picked up by any person that knows Mio very well. It doesn't help that her eyes are poofy and red, not to mention that there's bags under her eyes. She clearly hasn't slept and she seemed to have been crying. ]

Ahaha. I didn't keep you waiting too long, have I? ☆ [ Important questions, to be honest... ]

[ Waiting at the door of the Sonozaki household is Leon who is dressed up nicely for this day. He's even wearing the scarf that she made for him as well. Despite his preparations and pep talk, he still couldn't help but feel nervous. This date in particular worried him since he wanted nothing more than to make sure that she had an amazing day. On top of that, he felt uneasy about what her parents thought about this. When he sees the door swing open, he's getting ready to greet her with a smile but then he immediately notices that something is very wrong. Not only was she not her normal cheery self, the redness in her eyes, along with the dark bags were more than enough to clue him in. She had been crying. ]

Not at all. You came out right on time.

[ As much as he wanted to ask her about what happened, he didn't want to take the chance of her family overhearing. Since the last time she told him something important, he was told not to tell her sister. As soon as they were alone and in his car, he was going to ask her. While trying his best to smile, he holds out a bouquet of flowers for her. ]

This is for you. I wanted to ask what your favorite flower is but I felt that it would be too obvious if I did. So... I hope you like these.

[ She finds herself blinking several times as her eyes widen at the bouquet of flowers. It's definitely rather cliche, but it's somewhat nice to the point where she can't help but giggle a little bit lightly as she takes the flowers, pulling them close. ]

I didn't bring anything with me, but thank you. You know, white roses means devotion in hanakotoba. Orchid represents refinement, and it's also a symbol of the rare and precious. And the last one, is a green chrysanthemum. It's a symbol of the sun... and symbolize happiness and joy. There's actually a festival to celebrate chrysanthemums back home, you know? I really appreciate it.

[ The smile she wears brightens just a little bit, a blush tinging her cheeks. ]

I'm really happy. I owe you one.

[ He's still worried about her but when he sees that brighter smile, he feels a slight sense of relief. Her smile never fails to brighten his day and his goal in life is to give her the happiness she deserves. ]

I did some research on flower meanings. [ Along with asking the florist that he purchased the bouquet from. Flowers aren't exactly his forte. ] My goal was to pick out flower colors that you liked that also had powerful meanings behind them. I wasn't aware that White Roses could also mean devotion, though. That works out perfectly, then. [ Especially given that he's devoted to her. It was funny how things worked without realizing it. ] That's interesting, I'd like to see Japan's festival one day. In China, there's a festival for climbing the mountains and admiring the chrysanthemums. Peope also drink chrysanthemum liquor on that day as well.

[ Even though he's trying to remain calm, he still couldn't get the sight of her with red eyes out of his head. It also worried him that she possibly didn't get sleep judging from the dark circles under her eyes/ ]

Don't worry about it. It's only natural that a boyfriend would do something special for his cute girlfriend. I also have some dog treats in my car for Satoshi that you can take with you whenever we are done. Jasmine is quite fond of them so maybe he'll enjoy them as well?

Yeah. I mean, flower meanings are probably different depending on what country you're looking the information for.

[ At least, that's what she knows, but... when he says that works out perfectly, she can't help but blush pretty hard out of embarrassment. ]

I'll take you there, then, Leon. One day, I'll go take you there. I've never actually been there myself, since it's in Tokyo, but I've heard it's really nice.

[ She smiles proudly when he says that it's only natural, but she definitely does owe him one. Mio will just have to come up with something to get him at some point, whether it's during this date or later on. ]

But you even got something for Satoshi? I'm sure if Jasmine enjoys them, he might, too. He doesn't seem to be too picky so far. Anyway... shall we go? ☆

[ Just when he could say something without feeling embarrassed, he could feel his cheeks turning red from that slip of tongue. He still had a long way to go in order to be smooth mcgroove... ]

I'd like that. We can plan a trip to Japan together one day. There's a lot I want to see. [ Despite visiting numerous times, it was strictly for buisness. ] Then we can enjoy it for the first time together. That will make it more special. [ At her suggestion, he nods in agreement. ] Yeah, let's head out.

[ With that said, he leads her to his car, opening the passenger door seat for her to step in. ]

You... [ Will there ever be a day he could compliment her without acting like a stuttering fool? ] You look really nice in that outfit, by the way.

Maybe you should make that trip my graduation present. ☆

[ Although they might not be able to actually go there, considering that Recolle's been acting pretty weird as of late. Nevertheless, she does smile and follow him to the car, gasping in awe - Mio herself tends to get around by either walking or having someone else drive her.

She's been tempted to take driving lessons at some point, but why would she do that when she has someone to drive her? ]

Ah... [ Mio blushes, glancing around in hopes that nobody sees this. ] Thank you. You don't look half bad, yourself. Mm, you don't look like an old man for once.

[ A-fucking-mazing. ]

What a pricey graduation trip. [ Of course, he can totally afford like ten tickets and then some. ] If you're good, I'll consider it. I can even take you to Hong Kong as well.

[ He had his doubts about being able to leave the city as well, but he was still willing to give it a try. Mio's graduation is important, so he wanted to do something nice for that special day. ]

Why thank you. I had a feeling you were going to like what you see. [ This loser knew that he looked good and took pride in it. As he's running a hand through his hair, he immediately narrows his eyes at her at the mention of 'old man'. ] I'll let that slide but I'm not afraid to send you to the back seat.

[ Once she was in, he gets inside the driver's side, closes the door and starts driving them away. As he's paying attention to the road, he's still making an internal battle on how to bring up the topic of his worries. ]

Speaking of which. If you ever need a ride somewhere, you can always ask me.

[ Mio pouts a little bit, but it's more playful than it is actually being genuinely upset. ]

Well, you'd be coming with me too, so it's not as if I'd be going alone! Besides, it'll be a fun date! [ 'Fun' being the key word here. ] But if you can't do that, I'll accept doing something fun instead. Like maybe you can let me order you once as my reward for getting perfect grades and graduating... ahh, I already have ideas. ☆

[ Mio Sonozaki is literally the worst. But don't just drive until she has her seatbelt on!! Although when he says that, she can't help but blink several times. ]

Okay, I'll tell my parents I won't need a bodyguard anymore.

Well, you do have a point. After all, you'll need me with you in Hong Kong so I can show you the best places to visit. Then if you manage to get perfect grades when you graduate, I'll take you overseas. Should I be able to. [ There's a look of uncertainty as hes says that. For some reason, he had his doubts they would be able to leave the country. ] What the hell kind of reward is that?! Whatever idea you have in your head, I'm already unsure about it. [ She beams in the way only she can before she finds himself making that sort of reaction; honestly she hopes he can talk and drive like that because she'll be concerned if he made a kneejerk reaction if she pushed too far. ]

Isn't it obvious, though? It's a reward for me.

Well, not all the time, since I don't like... you know. Being seen as the Sonozaki heir. I usually just walk to school and other places most of the time and take public transportation.

I don't even know what it is, but I can already tell you have the strangest idea for rewards. [ A sigh passes by his lips. ] Well, that's fine. Should something come up and we can't leave the country, I'll at least consider being ordered around by you.

He had to remind himself that he's driving and he had to do his best not to freak out at the things she says. ]

That's understandable. Having a bodyguard taking you to school would warrant unnecessary attention. Since you're graduating from high school this year, will you be staying at the dorms for college?

[ She laughs at that a little bit, knowing what her plans are. But 'consider' it, huh? Well, that's progress. ]

Yeah, it really would. As for that, I'm probably still going to be keeping close to home, since it lets me do work pretty easily.

[ Which means that he'll do it. At the end of the day, he's super weak to Mio... ]

Sounds like you're going to be as busy as always. I do hope you get some free time to enjoy the college life. [ A fake exasperated sigh escapes from his lips.] Looks like I'm going to have to deal with you on campus soon enough.

[ Hell if she believes that. ] Well, of course I'm going to be busy. I'm the heir, after all, and it's not like I have any other candidates to take over the company so I don't have to. But if you have to deal with me on campus, you'll just have to introduce me to your college friends! And enemies. ☆

I, the great and fabulous Leon Zhong have a wonderful woman that none of you will be able to have in a million years! Do you have a girlfriend as amazing as mine? I bet not!"

I mean, seriously!! What if I'm alone on campus and they start flirting with me?

[ The first thought that crosses his mind is: "Do I really sound like that...?" Spoilers: Yes. Yes you do, Leon. ]

I mean, I don't mind showing you off and making others jealous. Anyone would be envious of me. However... [ As he's paying attention to the road, he narrows his eyes. ] How do I know you aren't going to say something utterly inane and embarrass me in front of my rivals?

[ Thinking about some low life hitting on her does trigger him. As much as he dislikes Byakuya and Ishida, he knew they would never flirt with Mio, so they are cool. HOWEVER, he couldn't say the same for the other students. She's a looker and there's no doubt people will hit on her. That alone irritates him. ]

Then I will deal with them myself and anyone that hits on you will regret that they flirted with Leon Zhong's girlfriend.

[ That's it, that's the answer that he's going to get. She's just saying that just to keep him on his toes, though. But when he says that latter sentence, she can't help but almost laugh.

She really has a spot on impersonation of him... ]

Ah, you will? My hero! ☆ [ It's so sickly sweet, the way she says my hero, her smile rather playful. ] Anyway... are we almost there?

When you say it like that, it makes me even more reluctant to have you meet my friends and rivals.

[ Even though he says that, he will give in and introduce her to everyone that he knows. After all... she knows him best and he couldn't resist an opportunity to brag about his gorgeous girlfriend and revel in the envious stares he'll receive. ]

Ha, you picked a good hero to have by your side. You can count on me to come and save you. [ The way she says hero, causes him to blush. It's way too sweet and it's a good thing he's driving or else he would have died of embarrassment right there and then. ] We should be there fairly soon. In about another five minutes or so?

[ Originally, he was going to keep it a secret but since they were so close, minds well ask.]

Have you ever played laser tag?

[ There's trust in those words that she says, honest and true. Although she's tempted to poke his cheek because he's blushing, doing that while he's driving isn't good. So she'll refrain. For now. ]

I haven't played it before. Are we going against other people or am I going to have to take you down? Because I don't mind either.

[ Just from those words alone, he could feel the trust she poured into them. He may not be the best knight in shining armor, but he was going to do whatever he can to make sure she's safe. Not just from weirdos on campus, but he will always protect her no matter what. ]

I was going to say we could do either, but since you boasted that "you'll take me down", I want to prove you wrong.

[ This is another reason why he liked her so much. He really appreciated how she was so open to wanting to go against him in challenges. ]

[ Hearing him want to protect her, honestly... that's enough for her. She won't hate him if he fails to, and really? Mio isn't planning on blaming him for any of his faults, either.

But she laughs in a way that makes her seem like a villain. ]

Fufufu... you really think that you can beat me? Really~? I'm a lot more athletic than you think. Also you should be glad I'm not wearing heels, Leon. If you took me laser tagging while in heels, I would absolutely never forgive you. ☆

[ That's such an evil laugh and he could feel a cold chill crawl down his spine. But none the less, he remains strong and tries not to let that get under his skin. He's not intimidated by her at all, nope!!!! ]

Ha! Of course I can defeat you. You're underestimating my prowess. [ He laughs a little at the mention of her heels. ] I may be competitive but I'm not underhanded. Besides, I don't need a handicap to beat you.

[ With that, he finally pulls into the laser tag center; parking the car towards the back of the parking lot. ]

[ That "nope" is definitely a lie... but she won't even mention it at all in the slightest bit, just to save him a little bit of dignity. ]

Ah, is that so? Then that's fine. I'll enjoy watching you lose. [ "Enjoy" being the key word here. ] Besides, I won't lose to you even if it is a bad day. But I'm not expecting you to take pity on me because of that.

Aren't you the evil one? Your over confidence is going to be your downfall. [ THERE'S SO MUCH IRONY IN HIS OWN STATEMENT. ]

[ As he stops the car, his expression turns much more serious. Now that they were away from her home, he had to ask. Which is why he pulled a good distance away from the laser tag center. After undoing his seat belt and pushing his car seat back, he glances at her. ]

Before we start, there's something I need to ask you, Mio... [ Soon, he looks worried. ] You were crying, weren't you?
