[This is the January catch-all for Augustine! Open prompts as well the ones from the Event Log will be under the cut, but I'm happy to make a top-level for you guys! Just ping or private plurk me on RunnerRPAwaker or DM me at RunnerAwaker#5940 on Discord!]

I. School Year Begins (8th to End of the Month)

[Another new year, another university semester for Augustine to prepare himself. With class starting up again, he tries to organize his desk full of papers, lesson plans, and notes for his upcoming lectures. Suffice to say that he can't relax today.

Even if you missed him in his office, you may see him walking down the hallways while holding his laptop and papers as he heads to the next lecture hall for him to prepare.]

II. (8th, After Work)

[It didn't take him long to notice the light at the end of the subway tunnel. And remembering what the latest post from the app mentioning about a "big project", he knew he needed to act immediately. If he wants to avoid another chaos and danger like last August, he may try another attempt at investigating Recolle's mysteries, especially the city's greatest mystery of all.

Even while walking into the tunnel with nothing but a backpack containing the necessities and an extra flashlight and batteries, Augustine wasn't worried about his own safety as he had Modeste in her Poke Ball as well the other Pokemon that he recently received.

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean he's prepared to watch his step as ends up tripping on a rock, causing some of his belongings and the Poke Balls to come out of his backpack.]

[The next day after chatting with Karkat on Retrospec, Augustine is walking down at the park as he checks the time on his watch. Due to his promise, he has to wake up early to hopefully see him soon and just like he said, he lets Modeste out from the apartment wearing a homemade coat to give her warmth from this cold weather.

In any case, he texted the young man through the app on where he is right now. He just hoped that he won't do anything crazy than to freak out just at the sight of his Pokemon.]

[ karkat is entering the park when he receives the text. he's pretty excited? while he is never happy with the shit retrospec puts you up to, modeste sounds like the greatest thing to ever happen to anyone, so this is the exception.

he types out a quick response ("Near the main entrance.") before shoving his phone back in his pocket and looking around for augustine. he only has his picture to go for, but karkat figures he'll spot the dragon shark in a coat before he spots the guy accompanying her. ]

[Once he got Karkat's reply, Augustine then heads off to the main entrance as Modeste followed him, still getting used to her coat. Ever since winter, he noticed how she avoid the cold weather outside of his apartment and because of this, he had to store her away into her Poke Ball to transport her from one place to another. He just hopes that the coat would solve that problem.

Eventually, he noticed the young man as he approaches him.]

You must be Karkat, correct?

[alienates]

Uh huh.

[ his reply comes out as distracted, mostly because his attention is mainly on modeste. there was always the chance that augustine was pulling a joke; so many ridiculous shit happens nowadays that someone could say anything and people will believe them. ]

Oh my god she's so cute.

[ he quickly covers his mouth, like he didn't mean to say that out loud. ]

[Just hearing those words is enough for Modeste to blush while Augustine widens his eyes at what he said. Still, it also makes the dragon in delight that someone complimenting her.]

Well, I didn't expect that. Though, she seems so grateful for your remark.

[ ugh, he didn't mean to say it, he has an image to protect.

... he seems pretty pleased though. ]

When did you get her?

A few months after the app was launched. Though to be honest, I was scared when we first met when I opened her Poke Ball.

[That memory still makes him a little embarrassed, but at least it worked in the end.]

Her... what ball.

[ karkat currently looks like he is torn between trying to pet her or not, but that last part makes him pause. ]

A special capsule that turns her and other Pokemon into energy to store them. I only found out about it's through my memories.

But as we met, she was surprisingly friendly to me, almost like that memory of my other self petting her snout.

A Pokemon, huh...

[ that's a dumb name, but honestly he really cannot judge. ]

She probably knows who you are then, I guess.

Yeah. I did learn that she has amnesia, but at least she has some memories of my other self when she arrived here. Otherwise, she would have my head now.

[ amnesia, huh.... although that would make sense. if the owner can't remember everything, it'll be best that the giant dragon pet doesn't either. ]

That's suspiciously convenient.

Well, I'm trying to figure out how and why she managed to remember me. But at least I have a helper back in my apartment now.

[ This university is a lot larger than the one he used to go to, easy to get lost in, even with a campus map in his hands. Minato eventually finds Augustine's office, stows the map away in his backpack like he hadn't been walking circles in the hallway for the past half hour, and knocks on the door. ]

Professor Sauveterre? I don't have an appointment, but...

[ He would have sent a courtesy email to set one up instead of dropping by unannounced a handful of hours before the first lecture, but he doesn't quite trust emails at the moment. That's part of the reason why he's here. ]

[While he is busy with his upcoming lecture, he is open to any of the students' questions as he turns around to see a new face in his office while he puts down his papers on his desk.]

Oh, that's alright. What can I help you with, young man?

[compendiem]

[ Minato steps inside the office, pushing the door closed behind him but catching it at the last minute so that it remains an inch ajar. ]

My name's Arisato, a student from a university a couple of states over. I've been doing long distance education, but I've been having trouble contacting them...

[ Or anybody outside the city, for that matter, and for very important things such as getting them to release his grades over winter break, or when his next tuition payment is due. Whether it's phone calls or emails, he's been unable to talk to anybody from his school, and it's frustrating because he's so close to graduating and now who knows whether his transcript would even count as being legitimate? ]

...Anyways, I talked to the administration office here, who said to talk to you for permission to enroll in your class. I'm trying to get things sorted out between the schools, but it might just be a waste of your time in the end.

I see. Well, welcome to Recolle University, Arisato. I hope you have a marvelous time here.

[While he's not in charge for new students, he is not a stranger on welcoming them to the university. From his first day as a college professor, he was able to help them out getting used to the campus and their classes including his own animal biology classes and lectures.]

And from what you have told me, you seemed interested in animal biology, correct?

[compendiem]

Right... Thanks.

[ He'd been taking online classes for the past semester since he couldn't physically be there on campus, so having to be in a university as large as this one is somewhat unsettling. Which is fine, because for him, the point of school isn't to have fun, but to learn. ]

I've been accepted into the veterinarian school here starting in the fall. Animal biology consists of most of my major, so that's why I need your class to graduate.

[megabond]

[Well, that's another surprise. Just as he speaks, he rummaged through his desk to get the necessary items that Arisato may need.]

Veterinarian school, huh? So you're planning to take care some animals once you finished there, correct?

[compendiem]

Sort of... yeah.

[ It's a weak answer, and probably not the best impression to give to a professor whose class he wants to attend. It's not really the love of animals, or the want to take care of them and protect them, that nudged him in the direction of the field. ]

I have an internship at the vet's office in the clinic. After graduation... I'll probably find an animal hospital. Do surgery or something.

[megabond]

[Weak answer or not, he is just happy that he's helping out the cause of animals.]

Well, I hope whatever path you may end up with, you are happy that you are making a big difference.

[As he found the papers he needed, he gives them to Arisato.]

Here you go. These are the schedules and notes for animal biology class. I do have some special lectures over by the weekend this month if you're interested.

[ He takes it with a little nod of the head, looking through the pages to check whether he has to rearrange any of his work schedule in order to account for exams. ]

I work over the weekends until maybe four or five. What are the lectures about?

Mostly about the endangered species and the dangers when they are extinct. I decided to use them as topics after I read some articles about bees in danger and the consequences of it.

Maybe... Depending on when the lectures are held.

[ After adding school to his schedule, the free weekend evenings are often used for catching up on sleep, something he desperately needs but is used to spreading it out into numerous naps throughout the week.

He looks back down at his stack of papers. ]

Have the topics for each week already been decided? I'm... interested in sea creatures. Not really much else.

[ In terms of non-domesticated animals that he'll be learning about in veterinarian classes, anyways. ]

[Considering that he still need to work on his schedule for the coming days, he hoped that the date he had planned for the lectures may be suitable for Arisato.]

Why yes. I think that topic will be on next Tuesday.

But why the sudden interest in sea creatures?
