[ Akira's curiosity is unfortunately piqued by the sudden darkness, but what kind of person wouldn't find this strange and unsettling? There's a saying that curiosity kills the cat and that may very well be the case right now. He nicked the dome with his dagger and took a nasty shock... If only Yoshitsune or Kohryu was equipped, then he could have been saved.

You may find him passed out in the cold by the edge. Rest in peace, Akira. ]

where's my cat bus?

[ The subway isn't foreign to Akira, but it's surprising how long Recolle has gone without it... But America was a bit behind when it comes to public transportation aside from some small yet impacted places. You may find him snooping around the ENTRANCE (A), fiddling with his bangs as he does so (is this suspicious), before heading him by himself. On other days, he may go with other people.

If you decide to join him and they get far enough, Akira points out an abandoned SUBWAY CAR (B) in the distance. Which car will they find?
CAR 1 — He thinks it's worth investigating, looking through these personal belongings with no issues. Don't mind if he tries on some hats from the old era.
CAR 2 — He lies down on a bed and rates it on a 10-point scale. Eight times out of ten, he will ask your character to try it.
CAR 3 — He's suspicious of the food and doesn't plan on eating anything (yet), but he pitches that maybe your character should try some. For science.
CAR 4 — Oh, boy. Here are some choices to watch from Akira, though he doesn't... Seem comfortable if either of the last two play. If you would like a different memory, go ahead and pick from his regain list.

CAR 5 — While it may seem better to book it, Akira decides to practice his skills on the skeleton car. Catch him by chance showing off... He's the type to climb on the car, scale its limbs, and be in the middle of danger. If you were with him since the beginning of the descent into this craziness, it doesn't change how reckless he is. With one slip, he may be crushed—a metal arm finally smacks him several feet back.

This is fine. He stays in the crater he made for himself, discerning what exactly happened. There's no groan or sign of fatigue in his movements as he picks himself up, but the car is preparing its charge.

When they reach the HUB (C), you're right to assume he's going to take pictures of everything... Including a selfie that they've found something. Hooray! High spirits. Keep up the morale. After the fun is through, he mentions how surprising it is to have this system. ]

[ In a flash, Satanael disappears right before the collision. There's only dry, dusty air for James to tackle. Whether he catches himself or not doesn't change the outcome of his decision. The blue flames roar behind him as quickly as the figure disappeared, now with a hefty rifle in its hand. The muzzle rests over the demon lord's shoulder before he points it to his target.

"To think you would challenge an archangel. There is a fire in your heart that cannot be quelled."

There's a click as if the gun is locking into its ammo, but nothing follows after. Again, the ethereal being is gone. ]

Are you trying to get yourself killed?

[ Arms crossed, his brow arches while a mischievous smile plasters itself onto his lips. ]

[ Coward! In the absence of a target, James tucks into a somersault as he falls and rolls back onto his feet easily, whirling behind him where the monster has reappeared. He tenses at the sight of the rifle (where the hell did that come from?) but he doesn't have time to question it. He ducks and rushes the monster again--the closer he is, the better his chances against the rifle--but it vanishes again.

He spins on his heel, trying to see where the monster's going to show up this time. He only half registers Akira's words, not even noticing his expression, and doesn't realize that Becca has gone silent and white with terror. ]

I'm trying to keep us safe!

[ Oh, no. Becca... Akira pats her back? Hopefully that will bring her back to reality. Maybe he went too far with this joke. Taking a couple of steps forward, he gives some hefty reassuring pats to James' shoulder, too. It's fine. It's going to be okay. Even if the museum seems even more eerie without the demon lord waiting for them.

Maybe because without the blue flames that Persona bring, the place is almost pitch black if it weren't for the flashlights. ]

Sorry, that was a jump scare. [ He fiddles with his bangs as he shifts his weight onto one side. ] We're safe. Satanael is on our side.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

[ And then he figures it out. James turns on Akira. ]

You were doing that?

Weren't you expecting a jumpscare?

[ YOU TRIED HIS HAND, JAMES. ]

Sorry, I realized too late that I went too far with that.

You're just lucky you didn't give my sister a heart attack, or I'd have already killed you by now.

[ He goes to put his hand on Becca's shoulder reassuringly, glaring death into Akira's eyes, only to have his hand tossed aside. Becca's brushed it right off.

"Buzz off, Bucky, you're the reason I'm so freaked out! What the hell were you thinking, trying to attack it like that! What if that wasn't just a spooky trick!"

James is shocked into silence. He doesn't know how to respond to that. ]

But--that's not--

[ Akira easily shakes off the death glare, though his expression is filled with remorse. Checking on Becca, she seems all right until she swats his hand away. Oh, Boy. This is awkward.

Should he interfere? Of course. It is his fault. ]

He did what he had to do to protect us. I wouldn't be too hard on him—your brother is very brave and considerate.

[ And reckless, but he doesn't say that. ]

[ "He's an idiot. I can't believe you, Bucky, you just got home and you're already back to pulling this sort of crap!"

Exasperated, Becca huffs and stalks back out of the house. James still glares at Akira, but less viciously now. ]

This is still your fault.

[ It's at least partially his too, but he doesn't want to admit that out loud. He rushes out too to catch up with his sister and apologize. ]

[ Just needed to hold the demon lord's hand, Bucky. Akira takes a moment to look around before following after them, at least up to the door frame. Lingering there, he speaks up. ]

You guys should head home. Stay safe, all right?

[ He still wants to check out the place, so he'll stick around the museum. ]

Sorry. Again. Especially to you, Becca.

[ It barely comes out as more than a murmur from Becca, although she never turns around: "Thanks."

James looks over his shoulder at Akira with what looks at first like a nasty glare, but that softens to be a little more guilty (because, he realizes, Becca's right and he's not entirely innocent here either).

And so they leave, making their way back home. ]
