WHO: Minako, Lucy, David, Tarr, and Koromaru
WHERE: Subway tunnels
WHEN: Sometime in January
WHAT: Team DVV (Dragons, Vampires, and Vectors) is heading into the tunnels too!
WARNINGS: None foreseen, let me know if this needs to be changed. Each header will have different sections of the tunnel exploration prompts from the main log, so tag into where you want to tag! Also, please excuse my shameless copy and pasting of header prompts from the other exploration log I posted.

[ He's been lucky in that regard. Even the freakout he had when he first grew scales was more out of sheer shock than it actually hurting at all.
He stops when Lucy pipes up again about something hearing them, eyes narrowing. ]
Take it that it's not something we wanted to run into?

They're blocking the way forward, so we'd run into them whether we want to or not. [A pause.] Lucy, how big did you say the rats were again?
[There's no need to answer that, though, because in that moment two large rat-like creatures step into their bubble of light, baring their teeth at the group.]
...oh my god, they're huge.
no subject
Great. I should have brought a bat.
[ He was probably not the best person to fight these creatures since he was still just normal - weird eyesight aside. Huffing to himself, he shifted his weight and held the baton at the ready. ]

They were larger than Lucy remembered, but that itself wasn't saying much. Either way, though, it just meant larger targets. A vector grabbed a piece of crumbling brick from a cracked wall. Unlike a real arm, it didn't really need to wind up first before suddenly hurling it forwards towards the rats.
The brick thwacked into one's side, almost bowling the creature over with a distressed squeal. The second one bolted in the opposite direction, circling back--and lunging at them.]

More incoming!

Great, should've grabbed a giant mousetrap or something.
no subject
[ Because a mousetrap for these kind of rats would slow them down as well, but he wasn't going to say that. Instead Tarr just swings out with his baton, hitting the side of one rat and letting the charge hit. He then lowered his shoulder and plows into the next one, driving it up and over him. ]
Problem I see if that we will tire out long before they give up.

But Tarr was right, in Lucy's mind. Knocking them away was slow. Inefficient. And there was an unknown amount of tunnel to explore still. They couldn't waste more time.
When the next rat scurried in range of her vectors, the telekinetic resonance pounced, driving into the rat's chest to sever its heart. They passed through most of the creature unharmed, but the moment the vectors withdrew the rat's angry shriek gurgled into an unsteady cough and it collapsed. Lucy paid it no more attention, moving on to silence the next one.]

Koromaru charges at one, avoiding its jaws and sliding under its belly to attack the soft flesh there, while Minako sets her Evoker to her temple and fires. Samael explodes into existence and immediately wraps his serpentine body around another creature, squeezing the life out of it while Minako slams her spearhead into a third one, yelling out as she pushes it back.]

A vector followed the rat David kicked aside, silencing its squeals before it could get up. While Lucy was distracted, one of the creatures snuck through to lunge at her ankle--and it kept going, or at least its head did. The headless body spasmed to a stop at her feet, still managing to get bloodstains on her socks.
...sorry, whoever ended up on the other end of that projectile.]
no subject
It sails between her and the rat creature she's fighting, and while a huge splatter of blood lands on her face, she's able to use the moment of the creature's distraction to drive her spear straight through its throat, then yanking out with a heave of effort.
She's incredibly exposed though, temporarily blind as she is. Minako immediately backs up towards the wall to fire off the Evoker. Samael disappears, leaving behind the corpse of the creature it was strangling to death. An instant later Kartikeya swoops out in front of her, picking up his summoner's abandoned spear and dual wielding it with his to plow straight through two more enemies, leaving her to scrub at her eyes.]
no subject
And with Kartikeya having picked up the slack, as it were, David's shifted to cover Minako alongside her Persona, creating another small flame to fling at the next rat that tries to leap at them to make sure she was okay. ]

[ The shadows and the confusion probably made it look like there were a lot to the others, but to his night eyes, Tarr could see the number dwindle. Just a few more to go, and then the way would be clear again. It was weird though; starving rats would probably gone after their fallen others instead of focusing on the people fighting them. It was normal for the less amount of struggling prey would be better for them than dying trying to get a bite in. He frowned and then brought his baton over to jab at a body getting too close to David's side. ]
no subject
Oops.
The next rat that got too close to Lucy was smacked away with her vectors, sailing off into the dark with a distant crack. That left two squealing voices Lucy could make out, but not ones she could get at right now.]

Kartikeya, flush 'em out with Myriad Arrows!
[The peacock swirls as high up as it can go, Kartikeya taking the briefest moment to check that his summoner's friends are out of the way before hundreds of arrowheads materialize and shoot off into the darkness. One of the squeaks becomes an agonized death screech as the arrows find another target-- but then the last rat creature dashes into their circle and pounces on the nearest person.]
no subject
But the one rat that was flushed out and not struck down flies at him, causing him to try and put his arms up defensively. While it clamps down to try and bite his arms, however, that's at the very least prevented due to the scales going up his arms, giving him enough time to grab it, try to set it on fire, and fling it against the wall. ]

Real rats wouldn't be attacking like this; they would go after the wounded and dying instead of us.
[ He squinted at the others and then looked down the shadowed tunnel before them. ] Let's take a few minutes to regroup, okay?
no subject
I'd bet they were here to try and keep us out...is everyone alright?
no subject
It was the only bit of remorse she'd shown all day.]
...I'm fine.

That's gonna be a pain to wash out, I hope you know.

David, Tarr, you guys okay too? If you have any injuries I have a first aid kit in my backpack.

I'm fine. That last one didn't bite through my scales, it looks like. So I'm good.
