Which is why she's invited her assigned Good Will Fairy Buddy over to her dormitory. In all honesty, there is probably a better place for this project, but it's her de facto base of operations for most projects...
Said project is now completely covering every inch of kitchen counter and table space available.
She pulls another tray of cookies out of the oven. ]
I think that's the 6th batch! How is the decorating going?

He is still somewhat ...not exactly snarky, but he does pipe up when he thinks something won't work or is a bad idea. But he tries not to cuss and only stares at her twice, the second time when his enthusiasm with helping has ended with accidentally decorating them both in way too much floor.
Right now the tip of his tongue is poking out between his sharp teeth, lips pursed and eyes narrowed in concentration as he is attempting to outfit a cookie-santa with a green mohawk. There's floor in his hair, adding a general white sheen over the bright red streaked with black. Cutter has given up trying to hide the fact that his hair is turning red three days into the gradual change and now wears it like a dye-job that's growing out.]
It's going well. I just need to -Damn!
[A slip of his hand and now cookie-santa needs an eyepatch too. Cutter
poutsfrowns at the uncooperative baked goods.]This guy's clearly a biker!
no subject
Hm?
[ She shuts the oven door and sets the tray down on the stove to let it cool for a couple of minutes. Mitts still on her hands, she looks over to the table to see what he's looking at. ]
...Hahaha!
[ Is he surprised? She is, but pleasantly. ]
Biker Santa--I love it!
[ Yep, totally on board.
That makes it more unique and the person who gets the biker Santa will feel lucky, I think.
[ She steps up to the side of the table, looking over the finished products. ]
You're doing really great! I'm glad we used the Christmas Crocodile cookie cutter.
[ It...was just a crocodile. But you know. She decided it was festive. ]

[He shoots her a surprised look that quickly turns sheepish. They were supposed to make them more traditional cookies, but that was before they got carried away.
Clearly, as his eyes land on the crocodile cookies.]
I sure hope they'll have some fun, it's not easy to decorate these things. I haven't ever really done something like this before.
[Usually Cutter's idea of decorating sweets is limited to 'dip into chocolate' and 'dip into chocolate and roll around some candy sprinkles'.]
What colors should we make the crocs? Red, white and green? That way people will know that they're christmas crocodiles and not just your ordinary ol' ones.

[ She nods, happy and proud. Orihime has always been someone who dictates her own ideas on tradition, anyway, so he was clearly doomed from the start with these cookies. ]
Oh really? Well, I'm glad I get to be here for your first cookie decorating experience! I did this a lot at home before coming here for school, so it's nice to make new memories with people here doing something I loved so much.
[ She starts to slide the cookies onto the next set of cooling racks. ]
Yes, I like that idea! Maybe some of the crocodiles are green with red suits, and some are red with green suits?

Back at home my mom and gramma always did it. But I'm all on my own in this city this year, so~
[Cutter shrugs his shoulders]
It's a chance for a learning experience! Next year I can surprise them by being their perfect helper!
-and that sounds like a plan. I'll take the red spout and you can take the green? Whoever decorates more crocs wins!

[ She looks over from the tray, sliding the last cookie off onto the cooling rack. ]
That's really brave of you! Leaving home can be scary enough, but going out on your own entirely is a big step.
[ She knows that she is lucky to have her cousin in Recolle, so she wasn't ever going to be on her own entirely. ]
But if you like this, then we should do it again sometime.
[ She places the pan to the side and turns off the oven before sitting down to join Cutter at the table. She smiles and rolls up her already rolled up sleeves for the drama of it. ]
Alright, destroy and conquer!
[ She grabs the green frosting. ]
What a fun way to give to the community. I'm so glad I signed up for this!
no subject
[He frowns silently at the cookies for a moment before he shrugs and dismisses the thought.]
Sure! You're pretty brave as well, right? After all you've picked this city to go to school at too!
[If he got her implications right, but in any case he thinks that she's pretty talented already. Cutter rubs a hand over his nose to brush some stray strands away and smiles, oblivious to the trail of flour he left there.]
You're on!
no subject
[ Orihime looks up at that, curious. ]
What do they do?
[ To his comment, she shakes her head and laughs a little. ]
I guess we're all a little brave after everything that's been happening recently, aren't we? I don't think we could have expected it to turn out quite like this!
[ She starts to furiously paint one of the crocs, making the frosting nice and bold. But when she looks up again-- ]
...Hehe.
[ Oh yes, she noticed the flour. ]

[He gives her a rueful smile and then moves on. It'd be hard to explain that it's both a real business and the other kind of 'business' certain 'families' might be talking about. Families that don't have it that much with the law and who put loyalty above holding up rules at times.]
It's mostly just business deals - the boring organization kind of management, I guess? My uncle's a troubleshooter and mom and dad help him with it.
[Laughing, he shakes his head. That life had sounded a lot better to follow before he came to Recolle and those strange memories started.]
And you bet I didn't! I thought I'd come into this city, be a bad student with passing grades, maybe make some acquaintances and then be off on my merry way again. Instead I seem to have adopted a guy who's half-heater half-freezer and one weird thing just keeps happening after the other! Were you there when they misplaced half of us outside of space and time and even got themselves locked out in the process? That was a wild trip from beginning to end!
[He laughs again, thinking she just likes painting crocs rather than wondering about his face. Taking up his own colors as well he proceeds to make a red crocodile with white tiger stripes and sprinkle-dots for good measure.]
no subject
Oh I see! It must be nice to be able to work with your family. People you already care about and know you can trust.
[ She says without any knowledge of how actually horrible her alternate family is. ]
Half-heater, half-freezer? Is he a robot?
[ Because that is so cool??? ]
My cousin was actually in space! I got to talk to her while she was in orbit!
no subject
[Do spaceships and -stations even have windows like that? Cutter has no clue, but he is a honest guy who automatically assumes that everybody else is just as honest as well, which means he believes Orihime's words without any suspicions crossing his mind.
Laughing at the thought of Shouto being a robot, he shakes his head.]
That'd be an idea. But nah, no matter how strange he can be at times I'm sure that Shouto's actually very flesh and blood and human beneath it all. He's just got his own ways of showing it and a hell of a pokerface.
