It's that time of year... | December catchall
WHO: Mariko and YOU!
WHERE: Her office and around town
WHEN: The first half of the month
WHAT: Getting things done with a bum ankle is the worst. 0/10, do not reccomend.
WARNINGS: Language, but only because Mari is pissy. Will match format
I. At Kawaguchi Private Investigations.
[ An injury that would sideline many only serves to irritate, Mariko who has taken to channeling her frustration by overworking. Her usual office hours are reaching far into the evening, a usual departure at six has become lingering until nearly nine. It's emails and leads, checking in on some of her more vulnerable clients and trying to rustle up info about the weird goings on in town. People without access to the network have to notice something, right?
Please, save her from herself ]
II Holiday Shopping.
[Mariko is very bad at avoiding things that she shouldn't do, especially when she isn't feeling her greatest. Christmas shopping tends to bring out the worst of her long thoughts, missing family and reconsidering her tendency to avoid having a particular special someone. She's gotten things for Togusa and Daisuke, Tatsuo and Derek and habit drives her to a store that she finds herself second guessing even being at.
Would Matt even accept anything from her? They were trying (and failing) to be friends. Friends got each other presents, right? It's a situation that requires a lot of thought and consideration
Which is why the bag she's been carrying splits. Anyone have a hand?]
III Wildcard!

Somehow it feels good to see he's not the only one obsessing over this.
"Hey." Eyeing her carefully to see how her mood is doing. "Need a break? Coffee still works, even if it tastes like nothing right now..."
II
or maybe he iswhen he follows her into the store. He just hasn't visited that site yet!It takes him a few moments to find her once he's inside the store, but he does. Just in time to see her bag split and spill its contents into the floor.
"Need a hand?"
ii
He blinks, picks up the item, and goes to see if he can find the owner. ]
Excuse me.. Is this yours?
II
When the bag in her arms splits open one of the items rolls into the path of people passing by and who should happen to poke it with his cane but Matt himself. Realizing there's something in his path he stops and stoops to pick it up, turning his head to listen for expressions of concern over a lost item. He does think he heard other items falling nearby. Someone must have dropped their bag or... He freezes when he realizes the lady trying to pick up her purchases is familiar. He has avoided Mari enough that he can't be sure it's her immediately even with his senses telling him the perfume she's wearing and her heart rate. Still he hesitates to approach. What does he say if it's really Mariko? ]
