October and November have been very eventful for Derek. He almost died multiple times in October no thanks to the freaky ass fog, and now at the beginning of November, four of his family members are now in the app. Part of him is happy that he has more people to talk to about what is happening to him, while the other part of him is freaking out. Retrospec also deemed it a good time to change his accent. So he is now sporting a very strong English accent. Due to some events in October with his job, he has had to reschedule some meet ups with friends, while others he has schedule recently because he has recently found out they are on the app. Derek decides that during November he is going to rectify the situation and meet with people. It also helps that the anniversary of his parents deaths are this month, so why not go out and tip back a few drinks?

Derek and John have been wanting to have drinks since September and they are finally going to have drinks tonight. He is sitting at a table in The Inkwell and has found a drink they have which he finds interesting: The Longfellow. It's pretty much a Tom Collins in an extra tall glass. This is where John will find him, contently sipping his fairly tall drink.

It's true, it's been a long time coming that the pair of them have been trying to get together for a night out. But what with John only just coming to terms with having the application on his phone and then the business with the fog and the nightmares and the kidnappings the month to follow, he supposes it should come as no surprise that they've kept having to postpone the event itself until just now. In truth, with Derek's busy schedule, he's surprised they haven't had to put it back further.

He spots the younger man where he's sitting at his table across the room and shoots him a friendly wave to let him know he's been spotted, before quickly heading to the bar to order himself a drink as well. A pint, of course. John's always been rather a classic fellow. Though along with the theme of the pub, the brew in the glass is called an Unreliable Narrator. John hopes this hasn't been an ominous choice, as he carries the pint over to the table and seats himself across from the other man.

"It's good to see you," he says, before adding with a wry quirk of his lips, "at last."

[Derek smirks and leans back in his chair and folds his arms.]

Yes, we meet at last. How have you been John? Still terrorizing students?

[John raises his eyebrows, pulling something of a face at the younger man's choice of words, but all in good spirit.]

I don't know about terrorizing, but it's all coming along yes. Some of the students are showing some good promise this semester. Not everyone considers it to be a waste of their time at least, which is. Heartening.

[He offers Derek a smile and takes a pull on his pint, before setting it down in front of himself.] What about you? They're keeping you busy, I take it?

[Derek nods.]

Oh yes, the crime labs keep me quite busy, especially last month. We had a crazy case to work on. Obviously I can't to into details, but trust me, there was a lot of evidence to process. Lots of long hours in the lab. But, that being said, I love my work. I'm glad I'm doing it.

[John understands. Obviously the crime lab can't go into detail with a civilian as to what the case was about and what sorts of evidence he was processing, but he knows that the case last month was definitely a big one.

His expression sobers a little.]

Solving crimes, even at the forensic level, it still saves lives. One of my friends was one of the people kidnapped last month. I for one am certainly glad that there were people on the job to solve the case and get her the help that she needed.

[Before it was too late. She had been stabbed, after all.]

[Derek nods solemnly.]

Yeah, a lot of the people were hospitalized.

[Derek take a sip from his drink.]

I have a question for you, last month you knew about the Dementor. How did you know about that? I didn't... I guess, 'remember', that information until later.

[John nods in response to Derek's words. He knows that, of course. Rosalind was one of those people. Stabbed, luckily only superficially, though it had taken some time to get her back to health again.

He glances down at his glass at the question, wondering how best to answer Derek's question about the Dementor, before he speaks.]

I... Well, I remembered a conversation I was having about them. A conversation where -- a student, I suppose -- asked me what they were. Not unlike you were wondering aloud yourself. And I remembered the answer that I gave him.

[Derek eyes John from over his tall glass.]

You were a teacher? Wow, guess some things don't change. Why was this student asking you about them?

[Derek pauses for a second because a sudden thought came to mind.]

Bloody hell, what were you teaching?

Cumore

Derek was amused to see Cumore on the app and offered to go get drinks with him so they could catch up and talk. He chose one of his usual bars for when he just wants to get a drink and not have to deal with loud music for a karaoke machine. He decides to try a different drink for once and asks for a Singapore Sling. He takes a sip.

"Hmmm, not bad."

[Cumore has always been the sort with a low tolerance for the taste of alcohol but a high tolerance for the content; the result is often a curved glass filled with some brightly-colored drink or another, something that smells strongly of fruit and tastes like candy. Tonight isn't an exception – the coloration is almost impressively neon, the name of the drink in question was almost embarrassingly obscene, and it's got a high enough proof that it'd probably put lesser men on the floor within a couple of rounds.

But you know what, the night is young and he's doing all right, and he's teasing the glass a bit between his fingers, his expression at least mildly amused before he speaks.]

You know, I'm almost surprised that you went with something other than the usual.

[His voice, too, is easy; he's relaxed enough, really, and it's good to just let some of the tension go for now.]

[Derek shrugs.]

I've been going out for drinks a lot lately. I thought I'd change it up. One can only drink so many Tom Collins until you start getting bored of it.

[Derek takes another sip of his Singapore Sling.]

So, Cumore, how has your experience with the app been so far?

[drydrown]

Ah...nothing terribly strange, honestly. I've remembered a few things that I have no context for, but overall? It's been nothing troubling.

[And that does sound honest, despite the utter lack of actual details in it. Nothing he considers terribly important, apparently.]

[Derek give Cumore a look of disgust.]

Seriously? You've already gotten one memory and it wasn't traumatizing? Completely unfair.

I've gotten three of them, actually. Mostly boring things - some city that I was apparently fond of, some child that I don't recognize but apparently found to be something of a pain. As for the third...apparently we believed in some sort of odd creation myths or something, there was a story I was told as a child regarding how the stars came into being.

[He's keeping his gaze reasonably low and unengaged, though, letting one of his fingers trace idly over the rim of his glass.]

As I've said, Matthews, nothing to be concerned about. Surprisingly normal, mundane things.

[Derek takes a large swig from his drink and loudly sets it down.]

Unbelievable! You get to see a city, kids, and philosophical mumbo jumbo and what do I get? A freaky ass hooded figure that can suck out your soul, a dragon, a multiple situations where the other me is taunting people. Blood hell this app hates me.

Some of us are just born fortunate, it seems.

[...I mean, this is going to go hilariously to shit once he actually gets memories that matter because hahahahahaholy shit, but for now he's doing well for himself.]

Foggy Nelson

Foggy was the only adult family member to join the app in November. Derek was relieved that at least one of them was a adult. Derek wasn't sure if he could handle having three teenage family members on the app, let alone four. Due to Foggy's and Derek's love of musicals, Derek has chosen a Karaoke bar, the exact same one he was at with Matt earlier in the month. He is sure that after a few drinks, Foggy and him will be doing some duets to let out their stress. He quite enjoyed the Tom Collins he got last time he was here, so he orders another one.

Foggy enters the bar and scans the room for Derek. He beams and makes his way past tables and other customers and slides into a seat. "Hey Derek. I'm not late am I? I had to make Nattie swear to do her homework before I left. She had that gleam in her eye that screams 'I'm about to go full Rembrandt on this canvas and forget that I'm actually a modern teenager with modern teen responsibilities' I bet she'll be awake painting when I get home."

He orders one of the cheap drafts and makes himself comfortable. "So! Any news? Does the owl get along with your roommate?"

[Derek smirks at the mention of Natalie.]

Natalie has the same attitude towards homework as Amanda. What are the chances that when you get back home she won't have even done her homework?

Concerning the Bronte... [Derek shrugs.] I'm not sure if he's even noticed him. I mean, Bronte doesn't really leave my room through conventional means, such as a door.

[Derek notices the cheap draft he ordered and scoffs.]

Mate, that is not a proper drink. What would you like? It's on me.

She loses track of time whenever she's painting. High likelihood she'll stop to paint a little before doing her homework and forget it all.

Well sure the owl flies out your window but he must have heard flapping in your room or something right? Hoots?

Thanks dude. I'm used to eating and drinking on a teacher's paycheck. What can you do right? [He asks for one of what Derek is drinking.]

Yeah well, my roommate is a journalist, so you know... deadlines. He hasn't confronted me about it yet. Though, to be honest, I have been a bit distant from him since I got the app, so who knows what he thinks now?

You drink a tom collins? I didn't know we had similar alcoholic preferences?

Next time see if he can come along. We can find things other than the application out to ruin our lives to talk about! I bet he has some crazy stories from work.

Honestly I drink whatever is put in front of me as long as it looks safe. I thought I'd try one of your stylish cocktails. [He takes a sip.] Not bad.

How's it going with the girlfriend? Still a couple of love birds I'm guessing.

[Derek stiffens a bit a the mention of his girlfriend. He quickly takes a large swig of his drink.]

Uh, she's fine. We're fine. We still go on our weekly dates. Couldn't be happier.

[Derek takes another sip of his drink.]

[Foggy stares at him sideways. Those are cover up swigs if he ever saw them. "Not so peachy at the moment then?" he guesses. Every couple has their fights and issues.]

I'm surprised you two haven't moved in together yet.
