I've been pretty busy lately, though, so I might not be able to join you guys, depending on when you want to do it...

[She heaves a sigh here.]

[ Noctis leans his face on his hand. This is a conversation he's had plenty of times before with someone else. Which is to say... ]

So you're a workaholic like Prompto. Not entirely surprised.

Aren't you going to school, too?

[Wha...what is with this judgmental look...]

[ Concerned! Not judgmental!! ]

[ Noctis reaches over, taping the empty space on the table where there's an empty seat in front of him. ]

C'mon. Take a break.

[It's very tempting...she's been standing for her entire shift, like usual.]

I'm still on the clock, though.

[ Noctis wears a soft smile. ]

Hey, if you get in trouble, I'll gladly tell your boss I asked.

[ Plus, he's a regular customer. He'll happily spend more money in exchange. ]

My boss would probably chew you out even if you are a customer.

[But she smiles back and flops into the chair, her skirt poofing out as she does.]

Mmnghhh. Much better.

Nothing wrong with breaking the rules sometimes.

[ Dante is a bad influence on Noctis. He thinks this as he laughs a little, taking another sip of his coffee. He laughs when she practically melts into the chair. ]

I worked part-time at a coffee shop for a few weeks back in London. When I was sixteen.

I can imagine. I need a full time masseur on my speed dial, honestly...

[She raises her arms up to stretch, yawning a bit.]

But yeah, let me know when you and Prompto are free. I'll try to make it, I need to catch up with you two.

[ Noctis leans back in his seat, one arm draped behind it while the other rubs at the back of his neck. ]

Ah, yeah, there's a lot to catch up on, actually.

[A tilt of her head, and then a concerned furrow of her brow.]

Did something happen?

[Did Retrospec happen? is what she means.]

Ah, let's see...

[ He taps his fingers against the table, looking up in thought. ]

Found out the name of the enemy in the war going on where he come from. Ardyn ran into us at one point, but we don't really know why we had.

Except we're pretty sure Ardyn and I are related. Guess we've got the same middle and last name?

And, uh...

[ Noctis wears a lopsided smile now, exhaling a chuckle as he looks down at the table. ]

Prompto and I started dating.

[Her concern continues to show on her face as he speaks, one eyebrow even arching at the mention of Ardyn. Her former professor and team mate, related to Noctis? Strange, but who is she to talk--

and then she makes a startled sound not unlike an upset bird and jolts up straight.]

Oh my god, Noctis, why didn't you lead with that news?!

[ Noctis jolts a bit himself when Minako does that, not exactly expecting that kind of reaction. He looks a little dumbfounded when he meets her eye. ]

Wh--

I-I don't know? Is that really a headliner?

Yes? [And now she's properly beaming, almost bouncing in her seat.] I'm so happy for you two! It was so sweet, seeing Prompto get embarrassed about your birthday present back then, I thought something might've been there...

[ Noctis starts to turn red when Minako bounces in her seat like that. He's not sure how to handle this??? ]

Ah... Yeah, he... Really put a lot of thought into that.

[ And the hug lasted a pretty long period of time-- How did he seriously think that Prompto was straight again?

Noctis isn't sure how to handle this large burst of enthusiasm, but he's certainly happy in the grand scheme of things. He nervously chuckles as he rubs the back of his neck. ]

And thanks. I'm... Pretty happy with how things turned out.

[She is happy knowing her friends are happy, honestly...]

Sooo, can I ask?

[ Hand still at his neck, Noctis' eyes shift up to Minako, meek with a pink glow. ]

How you two got together, of course!

[Give her some deets, please.]

[ THIS IS SO HARD. Mostly because he's ridiculously ecstatic over it and he's absolutely piss-poor at showing his emotions towards certain things. This is overwhelming in the best of ways, and so it's because of that Noctis suffers a little bit here. ]

Oh, right.

[ He straightens up in his seat, holding his coffee mug between both of his hands as he looks down to it, still smiling. ]

I, uh, I guess it started with me developing a sort of.

Crush, I guess, on him a while back.

[ Noctis purses his lips. ]

I didn't really plan on telling him, but it started to bug me that I couldn't. A few people noticed, encouraged me to tell him and uh...

He wanted some time to process it, and then it just... Happened. I told him, he suggested we be boyfriends, and here we are.

[ He's the worst storyteller. Noctis turns redder and redder the longer he talks about it and while his smile is it's usual sleepy softness, his face is starting to hurt. ]

And it's been great.

... Really great.

Aww.

[Is her only quiet response, smiling to see him like this, not wanting to ruin this soft, happy mood with any other words. Lately a lot of of her friends have been starting to date, some have gotten into more serious relationships...it's heartwarming, these reminders that people can find true connections and happiness amidst the craziness Retrospec brings into their lives.]

Mmh.

[ Noctis nods, smiling all the way because he's absolutely, positively head over heels in love with Prompto. Has been for quite some time. And it still hits him rather hard that they're in a relationship. It shows in his expression, and he has to laugh at himself a little bit.

Noctis clears his throat, still embarrassed. ]

Anything big going on with you?

Umm.

[Her long lost brother is back in town but she's been having trouble talking with him, her boyfriend is turning into a dragon, her cousins are fighting...]

ReVA is hosting a charity drive in December! I've been working on that with Terra, it's gonna be great.

[Yeah, let's keep the mood happy and soft.]
