[Free Board Games Day takes place on the first Saturday of each month, at Total Recall Games and Hobbies. They have all the classics plus a wide selection of obscurer titles; basically if you want them to have a game, they have it. Some games even have prizes, mostly in the form of store credit. Cookies, chips, and soda are available for 50¢ each, and there's a pizza place right next door.

Ami has brought pizza to share, as she promised May she would! She has also brought her lusus (as always; for those who haven't met it before, it's about the size of a biggish dog) and a copy of Elder Sign. Anyone she recognizes will get a happy greeting!]

2. walkies (anytime)

[Despite the chill in the air, Ami still takes her lusus for walks every day. They take a variety of routes, sometimes even riding the bus to other parts of town, or taking hiking trails in the woods. It's partly to let her stretch her legs and get her energy out, and partly because she can eat a surprising amount of grass and greens per diem. Ami does not want her inadvertently overgrazing particular parks, after all.

So yeah feel free to run into the two of them literally anywhere! Sometimes the lusus can be seen wearing a smart red vest that says "SERVICE DOG" despite very obviously not being a dog, but she never wears a leash.]

[so uh AT SOME POINT while Noah was still in hospital, probably shortly after Halloween? Ami stops by in the afternoon with a big (and kind of heavy) tote bag, from which a tasty smell emanates. As promised: FOOD.

She knocks on the door even if it's already open.] Knock knock!

[ Hospitals suck a lot. He's still here, covered in bandages on his legs and right arm. The entire left side of his face is covered in bandages and gauze too. He's currently playing a video game that Prompto brought him - but he'll hit pause when he hears the knock. ]

Oh hey Ami.

[She comes on in, though there is a moment where she pauses when she realizes just how much of him is bandages. Still - she sets the tote bag on the table and starts unpacking it.]

Wow... you were not kidding about getting messed up. How are you feeling?

Less shitty than a few days ago.

[He rubs the unbandaged side of his head with his head]

Either way, May made her way in with a bit of fanfare, practically hopping her way up to the counter and slamming her hands down, staring at the pizza box with bright, sparkling, *hungry* eyes. Yeah yeah, games later, she was here for a slice of that pie.-

Starvin'. But lucky for you, I happened to score big at the turkey trot. -And out comes a shiny, crisp, five dollar bill.-

[For a second, Ami's about to go "nah, don't worry about it," but uh. Five bucks, man, that ain't chump change when you're 14. She will go ahead and accept it.]

[Minako and Koromaru take lots of walkies of their own-- though they're more like runsies, with how much exercise the dog needs, and how the woman needs to stay in shape for volleyball season. They're jogging down the path right next to the greener parts of the park, and Minako is actually so into whatever she's listening to on her headphones that she and Koromaru actually take a couple laps around the area before she notices Ami.

And even then it's more like Koromaru notices Ami...and her lusus. The puppy starts to veer towards the two, ears pricked forward with curiosity.]

[Ami is sitting cross-legged in the grass, working on some homework (intently enough that she didn't see Minako either) while her lusus chases bugs and munches grass. Of course, she's got no shortage of other stuff on her mind after meeting with her canonmates earlier in the afternoon, so she has not made much homework progress anyway and is happy for the doggo distraction.]

Oh, hi there, puppy! Where'd you come from?

[Her lusus notices Koromaru, too, but isn't as thrilled. A white animal, by her instincts, is probably another lusus, and that could mean another troll, and that could mean Danger! She scurries up alongside Ami with a bit of a growl in her throat, but then...

sniff sniff. Waaaait a sec.

She relaxes a bit - this is a smell she has smelled before, isn't it? Cautiously, she approaches Koromaru for a closer sniff.]

[Koromaru, on the other hand, is utterly confused by the odd dog's scent, but like his Leader, strange quirks don't stop him from making friends. He trots a few steps closer to sniff as well, a little nervous but otherwise okay with this.]

Hey, Ami. Koromaru, be good. [She gives a firm pet over the puppy's ears, and then glances to the lusus.] Ah-- you posted about this one on the app a while ago, right?

[Ami's face lights up when she sees her.] Minako! Hi! Yeah, this is her. Did you not get to meet her then? Lucy was looking after her at your place...

[As if reminded by that clue, the lusus remembers that this creature is a friendly, or at least not aggressive. She steps a little closer and gently boops Koromaru with her head.]

[ James spends a lot of time on the bus. Fort McCoy isn't exactly close to the part of town where there's things to do, so he has to ride the bus basically everywhere. He doesn't often run into people he knows on these rides, though, so when he spots Ami, he looks surprised as he walks down the aisle in search of a seat.

And then he freezes once he sees her lusus sitting on the seat next to her. He saw pictures of it already, but to actually see it in person is entirely different. It looks so...weird.

Eventually he gets over his shock and takes the seat opposite them. ]

Since when do you ride the bus?

[James!! Ami waves excitedly when she sees him. His surprise doesn't go unnoticed, though.]

Since always? [shrug!] Mom and Dad can't drive me everywhere.

[Her lusus (who I guess hasn't been accompanying her to school yet, at this point) leans across the aisle a bit to sniff at him. New smell who dis. Ami smiles and scratches its back.]

You haven't met my lusus yet, have you? Don't worry, she won't bite.

[ Huh. Apparently they must take different bus routes usually, then.

He still eyes her lusus suspiciously. He keeps his distance but then tentatively reaches out an arm to pet it. Is it like a dog? Can he treat it like a regular dog? ]

Does she even have a mouth?

[Once she's taken note of his scent, the lusus leans into the pets. Yes good. She never got pampered so much on trollplanet, we are going to spoil her rotten at this rate. Ami laughs.]

Of course she has a mouth! Here-

[She fishes a bag of baby carrots out of her purse and offers one to James. I mean if he just has the one arm right now he will have to stop petting to take it, but.]

Give her this, she loves them.

[on this day, prompto is taking a longer route to jog for his daily exercise. with puffs of air rhythmically over his face, it takes him a moment to realize that he's jogging towards ami and her... goat dog down this path.]

[he smiles, removing his earphones, and slowing down as he approaches them--now jogging in place backwards]

Hey, Ami. Long time no see! Heading to the woods?

[There's somebody she hasn't seen in a hot minute! Ami grins and waves back.]

Hi Prompto! Yeah, she likes the berries out there. [She indicates her lusus.] You haven't met my lusus yet, have you? [And to the lusus:] Don't be shy! Prompto's nice.

[Her lusus hops around Prompto like a little kangaroo, sniffing at him curiously. Who dis?]

[prompto watches in amusement, stopping completely to bend over at his knees and offer his hand to her to sniff]

A lusus, huh. She got a name?

[after a moment, he gets to pet her snout, earning a happy sound]

11/12; tuuri and emil

[Ami lives in a smallish green house in Viea Village. Her gothiness is pretty much restricted to her room, and the rest of the house is totally normal, although there's a subtle Japanese flair to the decor. (And some of the family pictures, particularly the older ones, appear to contain two daughters. Huh!)

It's Sunday, so both her parents are home, and in fact it's her mom who answers the door when Tuuri and Emil show up. So they'll get to meet both parents offscreen, and both of them seem quite affable. Dad makes some unapologetic dad jokes at Emil. It's great. Her lusus is absent, but if that's pointed out, Ami will just explain that she is taking a nap upstairs.

SO YEAH introductions get out of the way, and Ami leads her guests to the family room, where she has cushions set up on the floor around a low table. Atop the table are a stack of books for D&D (or whatever system they're using), a bag of dice, and pencils and character sheets laid out for all three of them. Oh, and this. It's... a laptop?

Ami plops down in her spot.] Okay, so neither of you has played D&D before, right?

[Ami's house is adorable! It's almost worth how awkward it is to be in your twenties and going to hang out at your thirteen-year-old friend's house. At least Tuuri looks, like, sixteen.

Tuuri would pay more attention to the game trappings if she wasn't eyeing the... laptop?] Nope! Hey Ami, what's this?

No, I just know it's a game they play on Weirder Stuff. Did you see Season 2? It was so good!

[ Emil takes a seat and also unpacks a bag of chips and a thermos of coffee because what kind of guest would he be if he didn't bring anything? ]

11/17 afternoon, option 2

[Everything is fine. Everything is fine?

Everything is a mess and John's going to scream into the void until it's fine. He's behind in most of his classes, he has deadlines to meet, he's exhausted, Christmas is really soon--

--and Ami's lusus is walking without a leash.

Despite the fact he's juggling a cup of coffee and his backpack he stops in the middle of the sidewalk and gives the creature a plaintive look, scouring around for her owner before spotting Ami not too far away.]

Do people around here really believe she is a service dog by now?

[thisisfine.gif. Yeah Ami's had a long few days as well. She missed a school day due to Troll Mouth, and there's that shit with Dave, and she's got a seance to organize... But, grin and bear it, right? Emphasis on grin!

Ami's lusus recognizes John and approaches happily, making a little chirp at him. Hello Ami's friend! Ami chuckles sheepishly.]

They've thought she was a dog since day one, actually. And, well... maybe they don't believe she is a real service dog per se, but I'm pretty sure they are not legally allowed to kick her out, either way.

[She's not completely unashamed about the deception, but. At least her lusus knows not to take a dump in the grocery store or anything.]

[Hello, friendly lusus. John holds out a hand for the creature like he would for a normal dog to sniff but he keeps his eyes on Ami anyway.]

That makes sense. The people around here seem to remain totally oblivious to what is really going on. Most people don't even react to Mewpac anymore. [But there's a grin.] Hey. Having a good walk?
