[ Souji hasn't gotten any crazy regains, just some memories and a weird power that lets him hear voices in his head. Stuff like that, so it's all good. ]

I'm afraid not. [ He shakes his head and then reaches into his pocket, retrieving a folded up letter. He holds it out for her. ] I've received this last night and wanted to know everyone's thoughts about it.

I detest beauty pageants, as a rule? [She shook her head.] But the fact that they would add such a thing onto the list of strange and foolish nonsense they have subjected us to already? It would not surprise me, and even if it were one of your pranks, it is still believable.

... what do you plan to do with this?

[ Souji places a hand on his hip, running his thumb over the pants material. ]

I'm going to do what they say and host the event. If it's sponsored by Retrospec, there's a possibility that any employees of the company may show up.

You are hoping that there is an opportunity in this to learn something, even if all that they have to do is send temporary employees with limited knowledge? [She frowned, visibly considering the possibility before nodding.] Yes, I could see why. It is some of the first chance to maybe speak to one of them?

Limited knowledge is still better than nothing. At the very least, we could then ask these employees how they were hired, who they were interviewed by, or anything that could give us a lead.

[ Though he suspects that they might not be able to answer any of those questions, depending on how good this company is at hiding their tracks ]

I've tried searching up contact information for the company before but to no avail. This could definitely be a good opportunity.

It would be the first start that any of us really have, and there have been paltry few of these leads so far, and far too many strange things. [She shook her head vigorously. It was something. Even if was almost nothing, almost was better than absolutely nothing.]

But you also wanted to meet and combine information, did you not?

[ A nod. ]

Yes. Do you have any information about the app or the company?

[At that, she settled herself into a seated position.] Some is guesswork, some I know for certain. They have sent gifts, and I believe that they are tied to visions that I and others have experienced, ones that are almost like reliving memories we did not have before.

The cloak I am wearing, I did not own it, and yet I found it in my room. It was something I remembered wearing in these visions. And strangers have come to me, asking questions about these visions, about things only I could know, unless this company has stolen my secrets somehow.

[ As she takes a seat, Souji sits down on the fountain next to her. He listens intently, taking in the information. ]

Hm... It might just be a wild coincidence, but everyone I've talked to or heard from about these visions seem to be users of the app. I wouldn't know how a social media company such as Retrospec could have any power over these dreams, but it's an interesting connection to make.

Everyone I have seems to be, just as the only people I know who remember horses appear to be app users. [She shook her head, wondering if maybe this was something to do with dreams. Well, that would make more sense than some of the possibilities.]

It could, as you say, be all coincidence, and yet I have yet to see something that did not fit that coincidence.

[ A nod in agreement. ]

Then the next line of questioning is: why are only users of the app affected by these strange occurrences? Suppose the company does have this magical power to do all of these things, so why have we been chosen? Why are we the target group?

There's still a lot that we don't know about Retrospec.

That is the 'why' which I have no answer for. There is no consistency among us, so I couldn't tell you what it is that they are trying to accomplish, unless it is possible that the others who do not have the app simply cannot see the things we do.

But that seems very strange, as are there not recent additions?

There aren't any major changes like the horses to chocobos a month ago, but a few days ago, we've had videos of our pasts repeatedly played on loop on the app.

That's also something we have to question. How did the company get video footage of us like this?

And was the company responsible for sending that information to these reporters who have been asking questions? Or were they employees in the first place? I have been asked questions about things nobody could possibly know.

I was wondering about that. Why would the paparazzi care about us and a few secrets, anyway? They must have better "material" to gather.

[ Sigh, asking questions like this isn't going to get them anywhere though, and Souji lets out a small breath of frustration. ]

Asides from that, did you ever investigate the Retrospec building in Tisse? The empty one?

And only a few worthy of actually reporting upon. It seems almost as if it was meant to target us, which only makes sense if they are behind it somehow. [Another sigh] And yet, I do not want to be too paranoid. It would be all too easy to believe they are doing everything.

... I have been there, twice in fact. It is as if a strange, deranged person tried to convince us that it was a business to tease us while we investigated. Have you been?

[ It's definitely hard not to talk about all this without it trailing off into some massive conspiracy or crazy theories, but unfortunately, without a lot of clues, this is the most they can do... ]

I've only been there once, but I never made it past the lobby. Everything was locked when I went.

Did you find anything of interest?

[And, really, the conspiracy theories had a nasty habit of seeming all too real at points.]

No, neither time. The second time, there were puzzles and everything inside had changed, was confusing and as useless as it had been the first time. I do not know how they can afford the games that they play.

[ Souji now uses his free hand to place it against his chin, thinking. ]

I'm not too sure, but... Do you think there's a possibility that all this really might be nothing but just a game to them?

Actually? It makes more sense if they do not truly 'gain' anything from this. Because what could they possibly gain from such foolishness as this?

Just entertainment, I would guess. It's a lot of work, effort, and money for all this, though.

Especially if you believe that they're behind the changes from horses to chocobos.

I have little reason to believe that they are not at least aware of what caused that, even if they are not behind it themselves. And if that's true, only someone who could have nothing to gain would have the resources. It's just too much otherwise.
