Dreams and Nightmares [Open]

WHAT: Nightmares galore and October catch-all
WARNINGS: A small scene of torture and animal (or Pokemon?) cruelty of a ~~Garchomp~~ dragon

I. Losing a Friend to Power [AU Memory Nightmare]

[Just when he thought the nightmare of losing his brother to the anomalies were bad, this new nightmare just might make him question more about his memories.

This time, he finds himself in a dense forest with no signs of wildlife as he hears nothing but silence. And just like before, nobody replied to his calls in his attempts to find someone in this empty forest. Truth to be told, he is not liking this kind of setting after what happened with him in the forest once and he wished that he could find someone or find an exit from here.

However, he notices something in front of him as he gasps at what he saw.]

M-Modeste?!

[In his shock, the dragon that originally appeared in his otherworldly memories is in front of him, except she's facing away from her friend's sight. This made him confused as she is usually happy to see him.]

Modeste, it's me. You know, Augustine, the one you managed to remember as your tamer in your memories.

[He slowly approaches her as he stares in worry at his dragon's behavior. But just as he got closer, Modeste's eyes turned red and before he knew it, she begins to roar out of pain in as she begins to rampage around the forest, causing most of the trees to fell as she crashes into it to remove the collar.]

M-Modeste! Calm down! What is wrong with you?!

[Horrified at what was happening to his dragon, Augustine rushes to her aid as he grabs her by the neck and tries to hold her down as she continues to growl in pain.]

Modeste! Stop it! You will hurt yourself!

[Without any warning, the scenery begins to change as he finds himself at the top of a tower. The very same tower that he saw from his memories.]

W-What in the world...

[Before he knew it, Modeste begins to shake her friend off her neck out of anger, causing him to throw him off the tower. At this point, you may try to save him from his demise in his nightmare. But if nothing is done, his nightmares ends with Modeste shooting a green energy blast to the falling professor.]

II. Sleepless Nights [OTA/Anywhere in the City]

[Due to the nightmares plaguing him this month, he hasn't felt his usual cheery self this month. With the said nightmares and the fog encounters, he doesn't have the time to rest due to his work as a college professor. Whether if he's preparing a lecture in the lecture hall or doing his daily walk, you may find him very sluggish and prone to doze off during his work. In fact, you may find him sleeping on his deck in his office or at a nearby table inside a cafe or restaurant.

No matter where he is, one thing's for certain. This guy needs a hug (or a pillow).]

[Ever since the nightmares started to plague him for a few nights now, Augustine doesn't have enough energy to do anything for today. A normal person needed a full 8 hours sleep and because of those nightmares, he ends up sleeping up to 2-4 hours every night this week. While he did endure an hour of his lecture earlier, he felt he wasn't able to last long.

Even as he returned to his office's door, he sighed in dismay at how tired he was. As he opens the door though, he is greeted by his dragon, who somehow able to escape from her Poke Ball for a while. From her current expression, as she saw Augustine, she is also aware of her friend's condition.]

Oh, Modeste. I didn't know you managed to leave your Poke Ball for a while.

[Despite his attempts to mask his exhaustion with a smile, Modeste just growls in worry at this.]

I-It's alright. I'm aware that I didn't get enough sleep, but I have to endure it for a while. Besides, I'm not the type to... ignore... the... upco...ming... lec-

[With his sight begins to fade, Augustine can't hold his eyes open for long as he starts to fall into the ground, much to Modeste's shock.]

[ It would appear Augustine isn't the only person whose been lacking in sleep lately. Although she isn't unused to sleep issues, the affects are definitely starting to show on Katherine, especially with the most recent...regain. So here she is with another cup of coffee and still wearing that beanie on her head. ]

Hello, Professor Sauveterre? I've been meaning to talk to you about one of your stud-Oh my God!

[ She drops her coffee as she spots the familiar form on the ground, instincts kicking in to go over and help. Her heroic action, however, is cut short by her less-than-heroic reaction to the purple dragon (whom she fails to recognize) standing over him. Katherine literally jumps a good foot back as she yells out in panic. ]

Shit!

[As Katherine jumps in panic, Modeste did the same as well. Thankfully, their screams is enough to wake Augustine as he looks at both of them as he slowly stands up.]

K-Katherine? I-I'm sorry if Modeste scared, b-but...

[Unfortunately, his exhaustion begins to overtake him as he slowly lowers his head to the ground again.]

[ Recognizing its Modeste is the only thing thats keeping Kath from bolting at this point, though thats still a bit iffy. What does get her moving, though, is watching Augustine pass in and out of consciousness. ]

Augustine!

[ Throwing her caution aside (mostly) she approaches him, kneeling down with a cautionary glance at the dragon above her. She places a hand on his forehead as she checks him over for any injuries or oddities. ]

[Like Katherine, Modeste also approaches her friend as she slightly taps his chest with her claw in order to help him wake up. And as Katherine checks forehead, she can only see that Augustine only has a slight bruise on the back of his head.]

[ She checks his pulse and is about to call for help when she remembers that there is a very big, non-metaphorical dragon here that people probably be seeing. She looks over at Modeste, still somewhat off put by said unmetaphorical dragon. ]

[As she looks over at the dragon, she stops poking her friend to stare her right back. She might do this for a few seconds until he slowly opens his eyes once more.]

[ ...Those claws look pretty sharp, actually. ]

Um, I don't think you should be poking his-

[ Katherine is interrupted by the sight of Augustine's eyes opening, jolting a little. ]

Augustine, are you with us?

[Seeing his dragon and Katherine again, he groans as he slowly rises up from the floor.]

Y-Yeah, I think so.

[Modeste then approaches at her friend, happy that he's alright.]

You need a shorter leash, girl! -The voice came from below, but the distance closed rather quickly as it became apparent that May was flying up to meet Augustine as he fell, catching him from behind and kicking off of the wall of the tower to jump again, getting tremendously high as she did so. She made the jumping around of tremendous distances like that seem easy... but the look on her face was clearly of concern, keeping her eyes locked on the dragon.-

You okay, Romeo?

[He doesn't know what's shocking. His dragon completely grew out of control or he was rescued by May by jumping over the wall to catch him (or how she appeared in his nightmare, but he doesn't know that). Either way, he was relieved of this, but not enough as he looks at Modeste rampaging around the tower.]

Y-Yes. But I can't say the same with Modeste.

I don't know what's happening with her, but if I leave her alone like this, she would kill us both.

Well, kill you, probably... No offense. -May was pretty confident in her ability to stand up to the dragon. The challenge was in subdueing her without hurting her too badly. She knew the dragon was important to Augustine...-

I gotta get close to her. Dunno how I'm gonna manage that with her thrashing around, though.

[There might be a chance May will get hurt, too. But remembering her unnatural strength, he had no choice but to rely on her for now as he watches Modeste continues to fire green beams around the tower.]

Just be careful with those beams and try not to hurt her.

-May eventually landed with a hard thud, setting Augustine down once the dust started to settle. Her knees shook, but otherwise, she was fine. Just a little rattled. It wouldn't be long before Modeste closed the distance between them, though, and May readied her anchor, settling it on her shoulders.-

You know her better than I do... You're gonna have to tell me the best way to take her down without hurting her.

[Once he was let down, he backs away from May in order to let her take care of his dragon as he looks on worry.]

I suggest you have to find a way to take off that black collar. I think that's the source of her rampage.

[Unfortunately for them, Modeste notices the two and quickly charges in with her now glowing claws.]

Got it! -May quickly swung the anchor in front of her, catching the claws, sparks showering around her as a result. With a roar of her own, she pushed back at the dragon with as much as she had, hoping to throw her off balance.-

[Despite her efforts to avoid her claws, Modeste manages to recover her balance by planting her foot behind her. Still, this makes her mad at May as she charges up another green energy before she fires it to the pair once more.]

Look out!

[Augustine quickly dodges to the right to prevent himself from being hit by the beam.]

Too slow, girl! -Rather than dodging to the side, May dodged *forward* rolling her way towards Modeste's legs in order to get out of the range of the beam without losing distance.-

Stay frosty out there, Romeo!

Got it!

[Upon she sees May rolling towards her, she quickly charges onto the young girl with her claws raised up and ready to swing at her.]

-Once more May raised up the anchor to catch her claws, grunting from the force as she did so. Not a good position to be in...-

Distract her!

[If she means trying to convince her not to hurt May, then he will try his best.]

Modeste, calm down! It's me, Augustine! We're trying to help you!

[However, Modeste didn't seem to listen as she releases her claws from May's anchor as she slowly approaches Augustine, much to his horror.]

-Good enough for her, for the moment. If she was focused on Augustine, that gave May time to roll back over and spring up past Modeste's tail, and right onto her back, grabbing a tight hold with the anchor pressed against the dragon's chest.-

Alright, I got her! Gonna try and get the collar off!

[Much to his relief, his dragon stopped when May grabbed her with her anchor as she then tries to remove the collar from her neck. But Modeste isn't letting her make this easy as she quickly tries to shake her off as Augustine watched.

Not wanting her to fight alone, he quickly jump onto his dragon and tries to reach the collar with May.]

How do we even get this thing off! -May tried to break it herself, but even her tremendous strength was having trouble even making a dent in the thing.-

[She was right. Even if he tried to pull it open, there were no signs of damage or any scratches on the collar. At this rate, they will endanger themselves if they stay on the dragon any longer.]

I-I don't know! Why don't you try your anchor to break it open?

It might hurt her! I can't risk it! -Great power, great responsibility... But maybe she could do something else.-

I'm gonna wrestle her down! Hopefully the impact will break it!

[Oh, right. He forgot that there might be a chance her unnatural strength might accidentally kill her. Still, her idea might be their only chance to save Modeste as she continues to shake them off from her and the tower.]

Okay! But just don't hurt her too much!

I'll try!

Okay girl... sorry in advance, but... it's time for the big finish! -May swung herself around to the front of Modeste, hanging by her anchor. She used the swings of the beast for momentum, taking care to brush against Augustine and make sure he wouldn't take the impact that would come.-

They call this... Sliced Bread No. 2! -May cried out before using one last thrash of Modeste's body to flip herself vertically over and slam the back of the dragon's neck as hard as she could into the ground, hopefully shattering the collar. If it was a blunt impact, hopefully the damage to Modeste herself wouldn't be so bad...-

[Just as May pulled off her wrestling move, Augustine moves out of the way to prevent himself from getting caught by her attack. Once he did, he witnessed Modeste being taken down by that move. But upon closer inspection, the collar was still on her neck but is somehow damaged from May's strength.

Regardless, she grows restless as she roars wildly just as she charges up for another beam attack.]

It's not enough... May, look out!

Damnit, just take the pin, already! -May shifted to the side, only to leap up and drive both feet into the collar as hard as she could, using the pushback force from that to bounce herself away from the dragon and hopefully put the last touches on breaking the collar. Of course it also put her VERY close to the range of the beam, raising her arms to block some of the force... but she'd still get hit pretty badly.-

May!

[Augustine is quickly horrified at this scene. Seeing Modeste suffered from the collar's torture is bad, but seeing May taking the beam attack is enough for him to rush to her side. Thankfully, her efforts were not in vain as the collar begins to crack as many pieces of it falls out from her neck.]

Are you okay?!

Never... -She coughs.- been better. How's the damage to her? -May was feeling the pain already, the pressure from the attack leaving her bruised and battered. She'd definitely be sore the next say, but... at least nothing was broken.-

[As she asks this, Augustine went to his dragon next and sees that her collar is completely broken as Modeste falls on the floor, now unconscious.]

I-I think she's okay. Thank you.

Good... She put up quite the fight. She deserves a nap...

Me too. You owe me dinner, romeo. -May tried to pull herself up, but winced heavily, immediately laying back down.-

Bad idea...

[Augustine chuckles a bit as he tries to help her sit down on the ground. With how she did everything to help him with Modeste, he might as well try to make it up to her. But just as he finished helping her, his hand quickly phases through her shoulder.]

H-Huh?

Huh... That's weird. -What, compared to *everything else* that had happened so far?-

[Before he can react to this, the background, especially his dragon, also begins to fade along with him.]

W-What in the... world...

[His voice also begins to fade as sleepiness begins to attack him as he slowly fell on the ground, unknown to him that he is about to wake up.]
