10/3-10/5 - Out with the Roses
That damn Baren. Iwai frowned at all the roses off to one side of his shop as he chewed on the stick of his lollipop. He'd told those working for him that it was up to them to figure out how they were going to get rid of the things. An entire truckload of damn roses. And with the fog and the nightmares going on these were just extra irritating.
(And no way was he ever thanking the guy for at least making it so he could do a nice gesture with three of them. Nope. No way, no how.)
Which meant that for a few days his employees and customers were very likely to see a giant pile of roses in the corner until he could get them cleared out. That should be fun, right?
Nightmare A - Neglect (CW: Child neglect, drug and sex talk within)
The vision was that of a small boy sitting on his futon with what looked like a small sandwich. A sandwich of bread. All around him was trash and there's even unfortunate things like condoms just scattered about. The boy continued to eat as he watched the door earnestly. It looked like there was nothing in the outside world beyond the windows.
That door opened and a woman came stumbling inside with a cocky looking man behind her. The boy stood up and the woman frowned at him. "Oh. I forgot I had you here."
She looked back at the man and pressed her chest to him. "Don't worry. He won't bother us. My room is this way."
And then they went down the hall leaving the boy alone before the vision repeated itself.
Leaning against a wall nearby was Iwai watching the whole thing, glaring at it and looking so tense. He'd tried to get out of here but it was like he was doomed to just watch this over. And over. And over. And over...
Nightmare B - Danger (CW: Violence)
This vision began with some rough looking Japanese men in suits holding out guns. Iwai was there too but he quickly ducked behind a box as the shots started to ring out. "Shit..."
Patting his clothes on instinct, he found that he was unarmed. Those bastards were going to kill him. "Shit, shit..."
The footsteps were getting closer now as the shots stopped. Here in this shipyard they were going to kill him. They'd actually tracked him down before he could leave Japan. That was what it was, wasn't it. It had to be.
The steps were closer...
He was going to die here...
Fog - Vanishing (Here be the vague spoilers. This will be rather vague here so if you would like it kept that way please let me know in the subject!)
Iwai wasn't sure what was going on. He'd been on his way back to his place when all these people around him had appeared. They were coming towards him with terror in their eyes and arms out stretched. It was like some kind of damn zombie movie if it were a film about scared crowds instead. And why they were all looking to him was beyond him but he knew better than to stay in their way. Survival was important here.
So he ducked into what had to be the park and got behind a tree, poking his head out now and then. Just in time to watch some of them scream as they started to just...ripple out of existence.
"Damn it..." What the hell was this? He didn't have anything to deal with things like this! Biting the stick in his mouth, he froze when he heard what some of the screams actually were.
"Save us!"
"Save us, Iwaaaaaaaaaaai!"
What? Why him?

"... How did you even manage that? You really must have done a number on them for them to resort to that?"
Honestly, Kenta couldn't remember ever hearing about such an incident, but this could have happened before he had started becoming involved in family affairs.
He followed Iwai to cover before shaking off the hand holding him.
"You don't have to keep dragging me around. I can follow directions."
no subject
Iwai looked out and didn't see anyone. They had a small break at least. Sighing, he leaned back against the wall and sighed.
"Munehisa Iwai. One of the biggest names in the underground of Japan. Least it was when I was an arms dealer and everyone wanted my business. Then I heard that someone buying my supplies planned to shoot up a building with their enemies in it. A building filled with kids. So I switched the shipments to give them airsoft rifles that looked like what they ordered and left the country."
A roll of his neck and then he was swearing as a bullet hit the wall near his head. Immediately, he was rolling to get to the next cover.
"Come on, kid. We gotta move."
no subject
"Looks like they're not that keen on letting you leave."
Which was normal given what happened, but even if Kenta was technically Yakuza, he was actually... pretty normal, all things considered, and he was rather horrified at the idea that a gang war could end up with kids as collateral damage.
"How were you planning on leaving? The plane is too obvious... cargo ship?"
no subject
In this nightmare he usually just ran and ran and ran until he woke up just before the bullet hit him. He'd never seen a solution for this one. That was the unfortunate part of this nightmare. That haunting feeling that everything was going to catch up to him.
It was a very difficult nightmare for him honestly. Because he didn't know the way out.
no subject
"You obviously did get out since you leave in Recolle now."
For him to still have a nightmare about it after all that time, though, there was probably a good explanation.
"I suppose they're still after you, though. You cheated them badly. They'd want to make an example out of you."
no subject
Iwai actually gave Kenta a Look. No. Really. He cheated them and they'd want to make an example of him. He had no idea.
"Never would have guessed that one, kid."
no subject
"How do we get out, then? Or are you planning to just keep running like that with your tail between your legs until the find you?"
no subject
"Don't ever call me a coward when you don't know what is going on. I don't know the routes out. I'm unarmed. They've got fully automatics. I can tell just by the sound. Probably some modified version of the MG4. Unless you've got a way out or a gun then we're shredded, kid."
This was his nightmare, after all. Them catching up without him having a way out. It wasn't like he knew it was a nightmare either.
no subject
That didn't really sit right with Kenta. There was of course some imbalance here, because obviously he didn't have a weapon either, but was there really nothing else to do?
"I'm supposed to just watch you get executed and do nothing about it?"
no subject
He gave a curse when the box he was trying to use broke and he had to go dive behind another. Damn it he was running out of places to hide behind here.
"But I do know that if I have to die that you better get out of here. I don't want you hurt because of me."
no subject
"What does that have to do with anything? I'm not going to just sit back and watch while someone gets shot down in front of me."
He started to move to get around one of the big metallic crates.
"And I can take care of myself, thank you very much."
no subject
The shots stopped and he listened to figure out why. When he did he rolled his eyes.
"Idiots. Firing too many shots and wasting bullets. I always told them they needed to conserve their damn ammo."
Look, sometimes it was hard to stop being a weapons dealer. Okay back to the kid.
"Kid, are you trying to tell me you'll help someone outside your family? I know how the criminal world works and I know you're part of it."
no subject
Besides, he might have been part of a crime family, but he'd been raised rather far from it in his formative years, so that even now it sometimes felt more like a job and not something he was supposed to devote his life to.
"And my name is not 'Kid'. It's Ooshima Kenta."
no subject
He waved for him to follow him and started moving further into the yard maze. Was it always a maze? Damn he couldn't remember anymore. But here they were and now he had to protect his guy too.
What he would give for a weapon right now.
"Want me to use your name then don't act like I'm an idiot."
no subject
Seriously, who was it who had been planning on waiting it out until he was found and killed?
Kenta really wasn't aware that Iwai was thinking he had to protect him. Really, all they needed to do was separate the assailants and subdue them, one by one. The place was enough of a maze to offer cover for that.
Iwai still knew the place better than him, even if he seemed to think there was no way out, so he followed for now.
no subject
He rolled his eyes and finally settled down for a moment to sit. He was too old for this. Reaching into his pocket, he tried to pull out... Damn it. No candy.
"Tch."
He listened again then looked around at where they were. Not that he knew anymore. But if they could get higher up...
no subject
After all Iwai had been the only one to follow him around on that day. Most of everyone else seemed to have figured he was either a celebrity or someone important and left it at that.
Kenta caught Iwai's gaze, and looked up. Well, that one container seemed like it's be easy enough to get on top of. At least for someone with Kenta's height, and in a few seconds he was pulling himself up there, and then holding out his hand to pull Iwai up as well.
no subject
Iwai frowned up at him but grabbed his hand to let himself be pulled up. It wasn't like he was against being helped. He just didn't get why the kid would want to.
Looking around, he didn't spot the guys yet and immediately waved to follow him as he moved across the things. Up here he could see better at least. That was something.
no subject
He moved rather quickly and silently for someone with his stature, and he clearly was athletic enough to follow with whatever Iwai said they should do.
Wherever this was, he was at a disadvantage since he didn't know the layout or what was supposed to happen here.
no subject
Finally he started opening the crates. Because he didn't know what else to do and maybe there was a weapon inside. But all he found was...stairs? That led to an empty room?
"What?"
Actually no. Not empty. There was basic furniture in there. A really nice apartment that just...didn't look like anyone lived there.
"This is my place..."
Stepping out, he went open the next one and it was the same. It was his apartment down the stairs.
no subject
Dreams didn't really have to be logical, and as Kenta was starting to understand, this wasn't his dream so he couldn't control the setting or anything of the kind, just his own actions.
He looked around the place a little. Sparsely furnished and mostly undecorated. Impersonal.
"It doesn't look like you've settled down much."
no subject
Iwai saying that seemed to trigger something in the dream because the next thing that they came across was a stairway leading to an apartment that wasn't his. In fact, it would be very familiar to Kenta even if this man didn't know that yet.
Eyes widening at the door, he looked around before stepping inside, smiling down at a pair of cats that immediately came to rub at his legs until he knelt down to stroke their soft fur. That was right. This was Fai's apartment. And as soon as Kenta stepped inside the door to the stairs vanished.
They were safe here.
"Hey guys. I don't have any candy wrappers for you to play with. Next time. Promise."
no subject
"...Why are we in Fai's place? Do you know him?"
no subject
He went over to the couch and the cats came to sit down on top of him. Iwai smiled at them and relaxed. The world around them was already starting to fade away. Because he was happy here. Safe.
no subject
He looked around as the scenery seemed to become lighter. Maybe that was the end of that dream, then?
