WHO: Lucy, Luna, Katherine
WHERE: Hollingberry Field
WHEN: Early October, pre-fog-and-nightmares
WHAT: Talking to sister(s) after not being on speaking terms with them. It may be an adventure.
WARNINGS: Lucy (Language probably but she's otherwise behaving)
[It was cool today, but not too cold; long-sleeves weather at most. Half the trees in the park hadn't seemed to get the memo that it was supposed to be autumn, and they were still steadfastly grey. But some had turned red and orange, and made Lucy's approach a little less obvious. A little. She stayed to the lanes, occasionally scuffing the leaves underfoot as she trudged forwards without looking back.
She didn't know if Katherine had followed her. She didn't know if Luna would even be here. She'd just...have to trust them, wouldn't she?]

She walks in, keeping an eye out for a familiar pink-head of hair or a young girl that had shared enough features with her and Lucy to have set something off the first time she'd seen her.
.....Would Luna be okay with this? Would her sudden appearance cause whatever was going on between her and Lucy already to grow worse? Should Katherine even be there to start with? Her mind slowly but surely devolves into a process of second0guessing and nervous speculation as she falters in her search. Then the what-if's turn to Lucy, her thoughts wandering to a particular part of her text,
"when my foster parents gave up on yelling they just dragged me away from places I shouldn't be-"
Her thoughts, and a bubble of guilt in her stomach, are stopped immediately by the crunching of leaves, head turning to see a familiar head of pink hair. ]
......Hey Lucy.
no subject
Katherine.
[Being proven wrong was...not so terrible, for once. For one sister, anyway. Where was the other one?]
no subject
[ There isn't much to say after that, at least nothing that Katherine feels confident saying. Anything practiced in her mind seems either pointless or ignorant now. ]
........If its okay to ask, how long have you known Luna?

[Yet there she was, tromping through the park, hands stuffed into the pocket of her hoodie. She paused when she spotted Lucy's pink hair...hard to miss, and...]
[She was with someone else? What? Who the hell was that? She stopped, a decent distance down the path, watching them for a moment, trying to figure out whether she wanted to keep going or leave...]
no subject
Met her four years ago before they split us up. Lost contact until recently.
[There was someone coming down the pathway. Someone small, in a hooded jacket, and someone Lucy recognized instantly. But she didn't move, locking her knees into place. She didn't call out, though she wanted to.
Unthinking movement was what got her into this mess to begin with. She'd made Luna feel trapped. If Luna still wanted to run, she could. Lucy wouldn't keep her there.]

Katherine is about to speak up again when she notices a change in Lucy's focus, following her eyes to the nearby figure. It doesn't take her even a second to know who it is. She's seen her picture before, of course, but there's just that immediate feeling of recognition that "Takada" look that she gets when she looks at Lucy.
She goes quiet like her sister, though she herself makes a nod of greeting to Luna, trying to at least come off as somewhat warmer. Its Luna's move, now. ]

[Oh whatever. She sucked in a deep breath through her nose then let it out in one burst of air from her mouth, fidgeting her hands in her pocket for a moment, and then another breath, more normal, before she started walking again. She took her time though, it was a good thirty seconds before she was close enough to the two older women to talk.]
Hey. [She directed this at Lucy, grey eyes glancing towards the other for a moment before they settled back on her sister.] Your roommates tracked me down. Said I should come talk to you. What do you want?
[It wasn't rude, exactly, but it wasn't polite either...]
no subject
Lucy was...a bit surprised, still, hearing that Freya and Minako had done the talking. But it wasn't surprising at all, at the same time.
...and now she needed to talk. She needed to be responsible, and say something. Lucy shifted on her feet.]
I'm sorry.
no subject
Her glance consistently changes from one to the other, quietly gauging their reactions. ]
no subject
Uh huh.
[She said, her tone clearly skeptical, even as her gaze flicked towards Katherine again, then back to Lucy.]
Who's she?
no subject
Well, mostly. Katherine was still familiar. Like so many times when she was younger, Lucy kept close to her, even if now it was more in a metaphorical sense. Physically she stayed rooted to the spot.]
My sister. Your sister.
no subject
...I guess thats one way of putting it. [ She's not intentionally criticizing Lucy's lack of "our", just commenting on it.
With that, her full attention turns to Luna, nodding to her as she begins, trying to make herself look as non-intimidating and approachable as possible; not a smile, but a neutral, accepting look. Luna might recognize her from their talks on Retrospect, but now she might be making the connection. ] Sorry if this is a bit blunt, but...Lucy insisted that I be here.
no subject
[That was ridiculous. Though maybe she could see something there around the eyes but...no. No this was stupid.]
[She made a frustrated noise through her teeth and looked back at Lucy. Sorry Katherine.]
I don't know what you're trying to pull here...
no subject
You asked who she was, I told you.
[She couldn't keep the frustrated snap out of her voice, even as she willed herself to be still, to stay in place.]
I fucked up, okay? I fucked up a lot. I'm sorry.
no subject
Lucy... [ ...She wants this to work out. She barely knows Luna, part of her not even knowing what to feel about her. But she really wants this to work out.
She readjusts her standing one last time, giving her sister a reassuring look and a nod, before turning to Luna. ]
Luna, I understand that this all a really, really out there for you. [ She barely knew she was related to Luna until a few days ago. ] But Lucy isn't lying, she doesn't really have a reason to lie about this sort of thing. Could you please at least hear us out?
no subject
That...
[And the she looked at Katherine. Her face looked familiar.]
I talked to you on the phone the other day. You didn't say anything then about being some kind of mysterious sister. Why should I believe you now?
no subject
Katherine didn't know until yesterday. I was going to tell you years ago. And then I—
[Her teeth clicked together, and she took half a step backwards as she broke eye contact.]
...then I fucking left.
[Lucy hadn't been able to tell Luna then, and then they'd lost contact. She thought she was never going to see Katherine again either and so didn't tell her, because what was the point?
And yet here they all were.]
no subject
...I wasn't exactly sure what to say to you then. I didn't want to sudden spring it on you.
[ She's not used to popping things on people like that: in her experience, surprises have never been easy. Especially with Luna's apparent issue with Lucy as it was. ]
I guess I failed at doing that.
no subject
I-
[She took another half-step backwards.]
This is all crazy, you get that right? You can't just be my sister, somebody would've told me before now!
[Even if Lucy said she meant to. Could people really keep secrets like this?]
no subject
The pink haired girl scuffed her feet again, glancing back towards her younger sister and away at some uninteresting tree across the path.]
no subject
Again, I am very sorry if this is a whole lot to spring on you, especially at a time like this. I can't blame you for calling this all crazy.
[ But crazy was becoming the norm as of late, and if Katherine was able to be barred from any information on her sister for 13 years, its not surprising that any half-siblings would be completely unknown to her. ]
But despite how crazy it sounds, I'm being honest: We all seem to share at least one parent.
no subject
[She falls quiet, trying to process it all. She doesn't bolt though, it's still kind of obvious she wants to from the way she seemed to be shifting, almost vibrating, in place.
It's completely nuts. [She agreed, looking between the two of them.] So if Lucy has an older sister and, what, same Dad? How'd she end up getting stuck in foster care huh?
[Looking for holes in the story...]
no subject
My mom threw me out after dad left. Katherine too, but she took her back.
[They'd be together again soon, the employees said, all to shut up a distraught child. They didn't mean it, in Lucy's bitter recollections.]
no subject
Thats... [ She cuts herself off, her voice taut and struggling to appear calm; She's had this argument with Lucy before multiple times, and has never really felt honest about going against her because of it. It was just that damaged attachment she still had to her mother that had spurred it. ] I didn't properly know about this until after we were separated, but Lucy was legally surrendered shortly after she was born. We were in the same orphanage together until I was sent back.
[ There's a somber weight to her voice, guilt making it hard to talk straight, and its now Katherine's turn to avert her gaze, opting to look at the ground.
"Mom, when is Lucy coming home?" ]
no subject
[Another sister who hadn't ever really been a part of her life. It was like she was starting a collection.]
Yeah that's all great. [She managed, as if the explanation was somehow nonsense or impossible or she didn't care. She was falling back into her defensive sarcasm it seemed.]
But why are you here? Why did you bring her? Why now?!
[Another half-step backwards as she talked.]
no subject
I asked her to be here. I didn't know shit all to say.
[The pink haired girl took half a step forwards, lurching a bit at the shoulders before she stopped again.]
Just—don't go.
no subject
Not wanting to leave the wrong impression, she lists her gaze back up to the two, just in time to see Lucy lurch forwards in a step. ]
no subject
Couldn't just apologize on your own, huh.
[She muttered, and tensed up visibly when Lucy took a step towards her. No. No she wanted space, she needed space between them, it helped her think, she needed to just back up, anything to make her...]
Mm.
[It hit her like a wave, a kind of a sudden sense of draining, and the air around her suddenly swirled int a black, chaotic vortex, but only for a few seconds, before a dog thing suddenly burst into existence, pouncing forward to take up the space between Lucy and Luna.]
Ahh!
[Luna let out a shocked sound as she fell back onto her butt, eyes wide. The dog just stayed right where it was, head held towards the ground and tilted slightly to the side as it stared at Lucy, growling out a warning.]
no subject
Lucy shouted in alarm, scrambling backwards. Her vectors crunched some of the leaves underfoot into dust as Lucy backpedaled another two meters away.]
What the fuck is that?!
no subject
They don't stay stuck on her long, however, as the monstrous dog comes into existence. Katherine stumbles back with a look of horror on her face, the memories of monstrous creatures still fresh in her mind from June. ]
SHIT! Look out!
no subject
[Luna made another shout of fear and surprise, scrambling back away from the dog on her hands and feet until she bumped into a trashcan.]
[The beast stayed where it was, though it turned it's head to stare at Luna for a moment before looking back at the two other Takada's and letting out another growl. It took one aggressive step forward, claws scraping at the sidewalk, but didn't attempt to attack.]
no subject
Luna, run!
[ Some small amount of relief comes to her when the beast chooses to ignore Luna, thankful she isn't in danger for now. On the other hand, the canid's behavior is still absolutely terrifying, Katherine backing up in response to its approach, yet not fully bolting like her instincts were screaming for her to do, unable to imagine leaving the other two on their own. ]
no subject
Lucy stood still, eyes narrowed suspiciously and vectors curling agitated over her shoulders.]
no subject
[Her eyes were wide, looking from the dog to Lucy and Katherine and back, as if she didn't know what to do. But finally Katherine's instruction finally kicked in, and she turned and took off down the path.]
[Unfortunately, about twenty seconds later, the dog gave a final growl and then turned and loped after her.]
no subject
With a startled shout Lucy broke from her spot, desperately chasing after the monster. Leaving the thing alone was a mistake, a stupid mistake.]
Shit—Luna, it's after you!
no subject
No, no, no, no-!
[ She fucked up. She shouldn't have told Luna to run; of course a monster would go for the smallest one of them, especially if she bolted first. Screaming for her to run, it had been out of instinct, long-dulled instinct, to be exact. ]
no subject
[She looks up, her eyes wild, when the two sisters come racing up the trail, and the dog immediately spins around to face them again, leaning low and growling once more.]
no subject
no subject
[ She's cut short as Lucy descends upon the monster, Katherine's heart dropping in horror, and then shock, not exactly having any proper words to describe what she's seeing at the moment. Katherine stops for a moment, eyes widening as she finally gets a look at the spectral hands she'd caught a glimpse on at the beach. ]
Lucy...
no subject
W-what is it...?
typo why
She didn't answer Katherine immediately, at least not intentionally.]
I don't know what it is!
no subject
It looks kind of like a dog...
