(CLOSED) we're not in love
WHO: Shouto & Yukine
WHERE: just outside the city.
WHEN: 9/24, evening to late evening.
WHAT: trying to make a bad day a little better.
WARNINGS: nothing? probably nothing.
( unfortunately, it takes yukine a little longer than he expected to finally reach shouto's house. he told him that it would take him about an hour just in case because he was really hoping that it wouldn't take him any longer than fourty-five minutes, but in the end, it actually takes him about an hour and fifteen minutes to finally reach the house shouto calls home.
it's so frustrating! he should have started preparing earlier, but he wasn't sure that shouto wanted to even go out considering the scar situation. thankfully and kind of surprisingly, he was still willing. maybe because it's dark?
augh, poor shouto.
that's why he's got to make sure that tonight is really nice. he wanted to hang out with shouto today anyway, but after seeing that post, he really didn't want to default to their usual lazing around one of their bedrooms. it seemed lazy and . . . kind of stupid. yukine knows what it means to have a facial scar, he knows that it's going to make his career aspirations so much harder, and it's got to be such a self esteem hit.
shuffling his extremely full backpack and the tote bag hanging off his arm, he knocks a fist against shouto's door. )

Shouto's in a dark hoodie when he opens the door, hood pulled up and looking tired- but he's had A Day of it.]
Yukine.

( even though he's spent a lot of time trying to mentally prepare himself for seeing his face, it still feels like a punch to the chest. he can't help but to look at him sadly as he resists the urge to reach up and press his hands against shouto's cheeks.
instead he just tries to smile. )
Are you ready to set out?
no subject
There are other options, other careers open to him. Voice acting is still something Shouto can do without actually being on camera- it's an option, at the very least.
Shouto manages a soft, little smile.]
I'm ready. Where are we going?
no subject
at that, yukine smiles for real. )
It's a surprise!
( then a pause. )
But we gotta take a bus or a cab or something part of the way.
no subject
... The bus should be by in about fifteen minutes.
Is it that far?
no subject
( but he nods. )
Yea, it's a little ways out.
no subject
... Unless you're cold?
[He reaches out his left hand for Yukine to hold onto, not thinking much of it.]
no subject
( glancing at shouto's hand. there's a second of consideration before he takes it, wrapping his fingers around shouto's. )
We can always watch junk on my phone once we get on the bus.
no subject
We could start now.
no subject
( a joke, trying to disguise the tightness he's feeling in his chest as he leads shouto to the bus stop.
haha. man, they're really holding hands and it's really warm? that's surprising. )
You've got really warm hands.
no subject
Mm, no it's just my left hand. My right is cold.
no subject
( grinning at. he stops for a second, offering his other hand to shouto as well. )
Is it? Let me see.
no subject
[He'll give over his right hand- which a bit chilly. Actually, a bit alarming in how chilly it is.]
no subject
( nonsense. he's about to add to that statement, but he's immediately distracted by the opposing temperatures of shouto's hands. )
Amazing. I know who I'll have to start clinging to.
no subject
The cats in the cafe seem to like it more too.
no subject
Then the left side is all mine!

Sssh. It's a secret, so keep it on the downlow.

( it doesn't take them much longer to get to the bus stop. they were already just a few steps away as it was. the wait for the bus isn't too lengthy either; it pulls up nearly right on time. once it's there, yukine pretty much pulls shouto to the back where the two of them can comfortably share headphones and the small screen of yukine's cellphone without disturbing anyone.
during the ride, he plays about three charming cat videos and a single episode of the animated adaption of the superhero comic that shouto shares with him all the time.
eventually— )
Hey, this is our stop.
no subject
Captain Might is actually getting a good adaptation this time around... He's grateful. The last couple were a bit disastrous, all things considered.]
Lead the way, Yukine.
[He'll get up and adjust his own jacket before starting to walk off of the bus.]

much easier to see the stars away from all the lights.
after a moment, he figures out what direction to take. )
I promise it'll be worth the trip.
( there's a smile and he offers his hand out to shouto. it'll be easier to drag him like that. )
no subject
Hm... I trust you. Where ever we're going.

( the forest ahead of them has a couple cleared pathways, all of them leading towards the campsite, or at least yukine has always assumed that they did. he's not so sure these days. he's developed a considerable amount of distrust of the forest after the whole flower incident a couple months back, but there weren't any better options available to him for what he wants to do. anything in the city would be too bright and they're literally always hanging out at the beach, so it had to be here.
for the sake of precaution, he had come by here earlier in the day with a school friend—one who had assured him that they were an avid camper—and marked a safe path with a bright yellow ribbon. granted, maybe they were all safe but yukine wasn't really interested in leaving anything up to chance. he wanted to take shouto here to have a nice night, not get lost and entranced by hell flowers.
the walk is blissfully short. it's a only a couple of minutes in to reach their destination: a decently sized clearing between the trees. for whatever reason there's a chunk of space that's all grass and no trees near the creek. it's not too big, but it's also not too small. it's just the right size for looking at the stars! )
Ta-daa! ♪
( he extends a hand out to present to shouto: the grass! look at it! it's so much grass! it's also when he lets go of shouto's hand again, already moving towards the center to put down his bags. )
Don't sit just yet though!
( he instructs as he yanks out a large and fluffy blanket from his backpack and lays it down against the grass. )
no subject
He does notice the ribbons around the walkway.
Was this what Yukine was doing today...?]
You're very prepared.
