WHAT: Derek and Ritsu meet up to talk Retrsopec. Derek buys Ritsu ice cream
WARNINGS: none, it's ice cream

Derek pulls his car into the Munch and Crunch parking lot around 10 minutes after 5pm. He was a little early, but he liked to be punctual. Derek scans around for a thirteen year old boy, but doesn't see anyone to fit that description. He gets out and leans up against the driver side door. He realizes he didn't inform Ritsu to what he looked like. Pulling out his phone he finds Ritsu's number and quickly texts him that he has a blue Nissan car and blond hair. Hopefully that information would be enough for Ritsu to identify him.

Shoving his phone back in his pocket, Derek thinks back to what he recently found on the Retrospec app, a post about Ritsu's adventures last month. Derek was aware that many people in Recolle went missing the previous month, his friend Tatsuo included. Apparently Ritsu had also been pulled into one of these crazy adventures and had been on a team that experience many unpleasantries. Part of him felt sorry for Ritsu becuase his childhood is being snached away from him. The other part of him wanted to beg the kid to let him examine the blueprints he had found.

Although Derek had younger siblings, he still wasn't the best with kids. Ritsu obviously held a higher maturity level than most and Derek wondered where that came from. It was beginning to dawn on Derek just how emotionally troubled Ritsu might be and Derek felt compelled to do what he could to give this kid some sense of normalcy back into his life. However, would you really call being friends with a CSI who is eleven years older than you normal?

It was good that Ritsu had some time to prepare himself, through his own conscious fault these past few weeks have made him look vaguely like a zombie. He's perfected the art of concealer, he's a quick learner and bless online tutorials; but there was a lot less do about becoming somewhat twiggy.

Oh well, maybe those who haven't met him prior will line it up with his body type. He raises up his hand mid-way in greeting.

"Mist... Oh." Well, at least he realized it on his own! "Derek. Hello, it's me."

Assuming he didn't get the wrong person, some fog of doubt forms around Ritsu, and he swats it away. Silly temporary city changes.

Derek sees a Japanese kid about 5 feet tall waving at him. His hair was a bit messy, but not crazy wild and his face was a somewhat round. So this was the kid Derek had been chatting with a few days before? Derek noticed him swat some clouds around his head away. Derek had been seeing these weird effects around the city and had yet to determine how he felt about them. Returning a wave Derek smiles and sticks out his hand to shake.

"Ritsu right? Nice to finally meet you face to face."

"Yes, it's ice to meet you too... Derek."

Ritsu shakes his head, still trying to get used to this whole 'being casual' thing, hoping that falter in omitting the mister part wasn't too obvious.

He takes his hand and gives it a firm, confident shake.

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting for long."

Derek shakes his head in response.

"Wasn't waiting long at all. Why do we go inside and I can buy you that ice cream and we can chat?"

Derek walked over to the door of Munch and Crunch and held it open for Ritsu.
