WHO: Shou, Ritsu, Yukine
WHERE: suburbs-ish
WHEN: BACKDATED to early september
WHAT: vandalism or just plain property damage
WARNINGS: naw
[ his father's influence might be subtle, like a poison. and the businesses he's helping to fund and set up are mostly legal, he makes connections and deals through a mix of both legitimate and criminal means, gradually building up a network. it's probably something slightly too abstract for a teenager to tackle on his own, but shou tries.
anyway, a more direct way of tackling it is just to just sneak into offices and peek into files and walk off totally innocently with new data. just to find out where his pops' next and newest installment would be.
shou leads ritsu over to a suburb where an office is under construction in a cul de sac in the middle of gentrification, a building under construction, still with bulldozers clearing out neighboring old warehouses. he jumps the yellow tape, swings a baseball bat over his shoulder with a wide grin. ]
Don't worry, this place has been under construction for ages. I looked into the papers. There's probably some battle over fees or something going on, nobody's gonna be looking into this anytime soon. [ IS THIS A LIE... well, who cares!! ritsu letting off steam is more important than logistics. ]
If it were up to me, I'd set the whole place in flames. [ ...... he might even have gasoline set aside if ritsu's up for it. ] Anyway, in the meantime. Got a favorite weapon?

No fire. We're trying to be low-key, remember? And having a favorite would imply I've done this a lot of times.
[ And he's previously been a Good Boy™ before September, so no. ]
--I'm not even going to ask about how you managed to purposely find information on something obscure, but thanks again, Suzuki.
[ Maybe he should have, but it's too much effort to care as he looked around the place. It did look like aborted progress that wouldn't be missed. Pulling out his phone, he checks his message history with Yukine, invited on accident (thanks Retrospec), but he was so down to break things, he hadn't bothered to argue against him coming. ]
Yukine-san should be here soon.
[ Motto of the day: Don't ask questions, just break things. ]

hell, it almost seems like the universe was trying to rub in just how useless he was. kind of like he's supposed to be content twiddling his thumbs while everyone else is discovering powers, people are talking about reconstructed memories, and other completely insane things.
soon after receiving a text with the location, yukine arrives with a backpack slung around his shoulder and a very obvious baseball bat poking out from the side of it. )
I'm not too late, am I?

Ritsu's friend, huh? Nice to meetcha. Suzuki Shou. [ yes, japanese name order, even as he looks... well, basically like a spitfire irish kid. he grins over at ritsu-- ] Come on, you don't have to be a delinquent to have a favorite weapon. But it helps.
Speaking of weapons, looks like we've got doubles. [ two bats. but he doesn't mind the order with which they go to bat. ] You coulda told me earlier and I would have gone home to change.
... I'm kidding, I have more than just this.

[ Being polite in a place like this??? Habits die hard man. Even when you're trying to be a bad boy temporarily. Unbeknownst to him Yukine has a history of his own, but that's all in good time. (Technically, bad time, but w/e)
Ritsu crosses his arms at Shou, shifting from unfitting-respectful to friendship-snippy like the turn of a light switch. It's the redhead's own fault for purposely teasing him all the time. ]
Well, let's see them.

still. he wonders if shou dyes his hair. )
Matsuoka Yukine. Nice to meet you, Shou.
( there's a quiet laugh both at shou's remark and ritsu's sudden attitude change. it's kind of cute. they must be close. )
I promise not to tell anyone about this faux pas if you don't. We'll call it a "theme".

maybe in the future it'll be a wreck or even ashes. there are also canisters of gasoline set near rebar, a fire axe, sledgehammers--how heavy are those? actually, are there pipe bombs on top of the oil drum?
those can't be legal. but apparently shou knows how to make them. ]
Matsuoka, right? You're Ritsu's friend, I dunno if you're a straightedge like him or a vandal like me. Ritsu, you might as well start collecting 'em.
Construction on this place has been on hiatus for years, it's set up to be demolished soon so don't worry. [ IS THIS A LIE? ] We'd practically do them a favor by wrecking the place up and speeding up that demolishment. And it'll be fun.
Come on, pick your poison.

Ritsu's kind of afraid to turn to Yukine's direction now, what kind of expression will be on his face-- if it's excitement, then well, eff it. He's just beyond caring right now what kind of company he keeps, so long as they're not the overly prodding kind. Though he might still be feeling a teensy bit horrified about this. ]
Smaller groups are better for keeping secrets. ... Hm.
[ Not horrified enough to change his mind as he steps over to the overly generous selection. Fire axe it is, as Ritsu feels the weight of it and its grip against his fingers. ]
This'll do.

( he casually corrects as he follows the two inside, looking over the area with piqued interest. gasoline, rebar, an axe, sledgehammers, and what seems like a bomb of some kind. he's a little surprised, but more so by the fact that these two are friends. he's seen stuff like this plenty. it's just been a few years.
there's a shrug. )
Probably more so the latter.
( he's lucky not be in juvie after the kind of shit he pulled in his old town. leaving his bat safely tucked into his backpack for now, he grabs onto one of the steel rebars and gives it an experimental swing. )
You really put some love into this.

the office windows are large and fairly nice-looking even with the building in an incomplete state as it is and shou elbows at ritsu's side playfully. ]
These are double-paned. Think you guys can smash through them? Ritsu, you even have the advantage, having a bladed weapon.
Give it a try.

[ And then Shou pokes at him it is with what sounds like a challenge. One he's absolutely taking. Under better circumstances Ritsu might have let a concerning grin grace his face before doing so, but that's why we're here, aren't we? To feel things after everything that's been getting them down has left them numb.
Well, in Shou's case wreck his dad's stuff with no one the wiser. That's fine. ]
Don't mind if I do.
[ Like he'd mentioned earlier, it's not as if Ritsu has a lot of experience... and without having packed a starting weapon, there was no time to research deeper into proper technique to Wreck Things Right. In such a situation, it's time to pour everything into instinct!
The window reflects all your recent mistakes, and the city's pretending to be normal. Up the axe rises, crashing into the window and the noise of a crack and shards colliding against the floor ring around them. Ritsu blinks confused, feeling like for a while the axe was lighter than it was supposed to be for a moment. These little accidents with his new powers have been getting more frequent, he didn't like it. ]
... I didn't make it all the way through.
[ Still a pretty good hit for someone who doesn't know what he's doing. Just give him a second to yank that axe out for who's up next. ]

( to be completely honest, yukine isn't sure whether or not ritsu is making subtle jabs at him, but he decides he doesn't really care. it's pretty obvious to him now that the primary purpose of being out is truly for ritsu. he honestly needs this. he was aware of it from the content of their texts, but watching him swing the axe really drives it home. it also brings the realisation that shou is a pretty good friend for providing all of this for him. he's not sure that he would do the same for one of their friends if they needed this sort of stress relief.
hmm. )
I think you should try again. It's ok for you to take another go, yea?
( glancing back at shou. he should agree, shouldn't he? )

[ he doesn't actually wait for an answer, just taps the bat against his shoulder again before stepping up to bat at the next window over, lazily twirling it one-handedly from the wrist--it might be aluminium or something and lighter than it looks, or maybe he's stronger than he looks. who knows?
then he just grins like a shark and grips the weapon with both hands. ]
You're frustrated, right Ritsu?
You gotta swing it like you mean it!
[ he puts his whole body into the swing when he hits the window, he doesn't swing like a baseball player, he swings like someone honestly trying to bludgeon something with everything he's got. and the glass shatters, both panes, outward in an explosion of shards in the evening light. ]

[ But he actually smiles slightly at that from under his mask, just briefly. The redhead's terrifying, but he's his best friend. So Ritsu's not scared to be near him at all.
And here he is giving Yukine all the wrong impressions of the sort of people he hangs out with, but to be fair, Ritsu doesn't hang out that often with anyone else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ A wise friendship choice or not, that is the question. ]
Alright, I'll take from your example.
[ With a rotate of his shoulder, Ritsu tightens the grip on his axe. He swings back and into a diagonal curve slams into a crash through the glass with all his might, its shattering spills on the floor and outside; and though his eyes were closed, he felt that rush of power again.
Then Ritsu... stares, surprised he actually managed to do it. He realizes his own long silence, and clears his throat with a straightened back turning to his friends. ] Ahem. Next?
