It seems like someone is manually picking and choosing from a list of every Retrospec user who didn't disappear into the void, and several names queue up. > initialize support team CONFIRMED. The screen clears itself, and instead of the familiar retrospec logo, there is simply TEAM DAQUIRI as a designation. the application will refuse to show anything other than a map, with one point highlighted in red. it is, of course, up to team members to decide whether or not they approach the access point. Team Daquiri's access point is in the Retrospec Basement. Team members will find they can access the Retrospec building and utilize the elevator to reach the Basement level so long as they approach it in a group of two or more team members. Only Team Daquiri team members can enter the Retrospec building at all at this time. Please see the Objective 1 toplevel for more information on what they can see when they enter the door! This is the Team Daquiri Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. WEEK TWO WRAP-UP

[recollecters]

[ following the epic boss battle, joanne will hug gracie upon reconvening, and take the six spirit pearls offered to her by the characters. she holds them between her fingers, three to either hand, and does a complicated gesture; they burn with light, and the ocean fades away. the team is once again standing on peach beach!

they will be tasked with escorting joanne back to retrospec headquarters - apparently her access levels make her something of a monster target - and once she's there and changed out of her mermaid clothes into more ordinary jeans-and-a-shirt she'll bounce over to the terminal and pat her pockets down.

assuming yu and the cave team are willing to give her back her employee badge, she'll shove that in the terminal; if not, she'll hack her way in and beam when maurice shows up. ]

[ joanne: ] Maurice! You're okay!

[ maurice, relieved: ] Miss Wiseman? I thought they'd manage it, but it's still -

[ joanne: ] Joanne. Dude, we've known one another since we were kids, why do you always do that now -

[ maurice: ] I don't think your aunt would really like it if -

[ joanne: ] Aunt Marge? She's around?

[ maurice: ] She's in charge, actually.

[ joanne: ] Oh! What about J??

[ maurice: ] You know that nickname only really works when someone knows who you're asking about...but everyone who responds to it is still locked outside the storm.

[ joanne: ] ...Oh. Well, what are we doing about it?

[ maurice: ] I'd ask that you take care, but...did you retrieve the artifacts from that twist?

[ joanne: ] They did! Why do you - oh, the weapons protocol?

[ maurice: ] If you think you can run it alone; I still can't get to where you are -

[ joanne: ] Sure! Why not? I know the theory, it'll be fine. I did close a twist all by myself, you know. I mean, they beat all the stuff inside, and stopped me from getting married, but I did the Technician's part and that's all you're asking me to do here. You don't have to keep treating me like a kid. You're only a few years older. And I happen to know what happened the first time you tried a full -

[ maurice: ] Joanne. Wait, married? What was going on inside -

[ joanne: ] It'll be fine! Don't worry. Aunt Marge is probably too busy to talk, right?

[ maurice: ] She's...preoccupied. I know she'll contact you as soon as she can. We've only retrieved you and Miss Guo just now, over in Ethanol.

[ joanne: ] Don't worry about it. I wouldn't be able to multitask if I were doing what she has to be. I'll handle things here! Will you go to sleep?? You look dead on your feet. Oh, I'm going to borrow your room. Gracie says it's in the safe zone right now.

[ maurice: ] ...Please don't rearrange my things.

[ joanne: ] No promises! Byeeeeee, Maurice!

[ she cheerfully shuts off the terminal with absolutely no regard for the fact maurice was still trying to talk to her, spins around, and claps her hands. ]

This is going to be fun! I've never done the weapons protocol before, but I'm going to do it the best! What weapons do you all use??

"Weapons?" Hold the hell on. Not again, Retrospec. Togusa puts out a hand as he steps forwards. "What's going on here that we're going to need weapons? You've pulled enough people onto these teams that shouldn't have to fight. How are we going to get the rest of everyone back?"

Um...that's what this would be for?

[ joanne's excitement fades to puzzlement. ]

Togusa's own tone lightens, and he sighs. "Nobody's explained to us what we're going into here. Or what Retrospec even is, at this point. Just, go here, do this."

"I'm going to help. Retrospec's employees still count as citizens of Recolle, so I'm going to do my job. Is this a fight? And if so, how is it going to help anyone?"

Er...I'm not sure I can talk about most of this...

[ he's bringing up topics she really doesn't feel comfortable getting into, and joanne's aware all she has right now is gracie - who, admittedly, can probably keep her safe if anyone here decides to change their tune, but. ]

But Aunt Marge says it's all volunteer-based. You can back out if you want?

"I'm not going to back out, I just said I'd help. But explain what you mean by the weapons. Retrospec has already been handing out a bunch of illegal weapons, even to people too young to carry them. I was willing to let the harpoon guns slide because I knew we'd be giving them back. But this might be too much to ignore."

Togusa unclips his holster from his belt, offers over revolver and holster and all. "I'm not even legally allowed to have this. You just sent it to me. And then sent a registration card, which I have no idea how genuine it is. So, frankly, you shouldn't be handing out more, you should be taking this back."

[recollecters]

Um...I can discount you from the protocol...

[ joanne is now looking around at the other team members, expression dropping. ]

You don't have to complete it if you don't want? Any of you. I...sorry for offering? Aunt Marge isn't really requiring it. And these wouldn't be to keep forever...

[ she seems less sure about things now. ]

To move things around? Sure! [ maurice unfortunately can't get mad at anyone if joanne is actively helping them to move everything around. ]

But, I guess I should explain? The weapons protocol means I can get you one weapon apiece at the end - you're going to have to go into some mini-twists I call up to get them. Then, since I have these pearls...I can do, like, one or two imbuments per weapon?

[ the number she can do will depend on if objective 2 of week 3 is met or not! ]

It's part of what Technicians can do, though it's basically just used as a way to, oh, clear them up? You make them more real for a little bit and then you can destroy them. But you can kinda use them to do other things, like the Weapons Protocol.

Clear them up....? Why do they need clearing?

Well, they start to twist reality if you just leave them around all willy-nilly, you know?

[He's here to investigate Gracie's friend and make sure she's physically fine more than anything, but he'll still answer after some thought.]

I used to hunt with a rifle. Small weapons are easier to use. [Like knives... Hmn.] I'm supposed to have some kind of magic?

Well...you could get a random magic? That's an option! I can explain it more tomorrow, really [ i.e. on tonight's ic mission briefing ] but you should think about what you'd be most comfortable using!

[ that appears to be all the explanation she feels is necessary, although joanne's tone is more chipper than most other employees' tones are when they mention jim! ]

And don't you already know? You're the ones that gave them to us in the first place.

[ He means not just the harpoon guns for her rescue mission, but also in general. Retrospec's the one that sent him the weaponry/knowledge on how to use it, why would she be asking him about something she gave him in the first place?

But also he remembers all the talk of needing to put aside personal grudges in order to save the missing people, so. He sighs, folds his arms, and looks away as he says this quietly. It's weird to talk about in person. ]

I'm good with guns. Pistols, mostly.

Um...knowing that kind of thing isn't really my job?

[ she's sixteen, dude, and also a technician, not whatever else. ]

But okay! I can either upgrade one of yours temporarily orrrrr we can just make you a new gun!

What do you mean, "upgrade"?

...What do you mean, "make me a new gun"?

[ Both of these sound confusing and also exciting and also terrifying?? ]

Oh! It's the weapons protocol! I'll explain a bit more later [ WHEN OBJECTIVES GO UP AT 9 ] buuuut it's basically gonna be something that works better! Meaning...I make your current things have new effects or I just make you new ones.

...if you make me a new gun, do I get to keep it afterwards?

No, and any upgrades would be reverted...but! It'll really, really help against those monsters, you know? Normal weapons sometimes don't do as much as they should.
