TEAM DAQUIRI LOG
After that strange Retrospec post, you may be wondering how to contact this "technician". Luckily, your phone or whatever device you have handy to check the network chooses that exact second to go haywire... Team Daquiri roster: Baren Kumou, Bucky Barnes, Futaba Sakura, Hitori Togusa, Iwatooshi, Izuku MIdoriya, John Steinbeck, Koutarou Takamura, Lalli Hotakainen, Mikleo, Yu Narukami. On whatever device you use to view the retrospec application, you may note the following scrolling on the screen instead of the usual options: ALERT: CRITICAL TIME-SPACE ANOMALY ACTIVE. SEARCHING FOR ADMIN... SEARCHING FOR ADMIN... DESIGNATED ADMIN CANDIDATE: EMPLOYEE #91962 M. MAHONEY PLEASE INPUT AUTHORIZATION CODE. The prompt does not seem to be for you, however, as the text prompts continue to scroll, this time with some input. > ********************** ACCEPT ADMIN STATUS Y/N? > y DESIGNATE PROGRAM TO RUN. PLEASE BE ADVISED WE ARE SYSTEM CRITICAL. > run subroutine designation echolocation-alpha CONFIRMED. EMPLOYEES ACTIVE IN AREA: 2 > list employees EMPLOYEES ACTIVE: M. FITZWILLIAM LEVEL 0 ACCESS, INTERN M. MAHONEY FULL SYSTEM ACCESS, ADMIN > search for alternative assets CONFIRMED. SENDING ALTERNATIVE ASSET LIST. Names scroll by on the screen. and look, there goes yours! It seems like someone is manually picking and choosing from a list of every Retrospec user who didn't disappear into the void, and several names queue up. > initialize support team CONFIRMED. TEAM DESIGNATION? > daquiri CONFIRMED. TEAM DAQUIRI MISSION PARAMETERS? PLEASE BE ADVISED SYSTEM ENERGY LEVELS ARE CRITICALLY LOW. > make contact with sysadmin > contact point entrance 1 > temporary access level 1 granted CONFIRMED. MISSION PARAMETERS SET. TEMPORARY ACCESS LEVEL 1 GRANTED. The screen clears itself, and instead of the familiar retrospec logo, there is simply TEAM DAQUIRI as a designation. the application will refuse to show anything other than a map, with one point highlighted in red. it is, of course, up to team members to decide whether or not they approach the access point. Team Daquiri's access point is in the Retrospec Basement. Team members will find they can access the Retrospec building and utilize the elevator to reach the Basement level so long as they approach it in a group of two or more team members. Only Team Daquiri team members can enter the Retrospec building at all at this time. Please see the Objective 1 toplevel for more information on what they can see when they enter the door! This is the Team Daquiri Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!
The schedule for Team Daquiri is as follows: WEEK 1: Objective 1; CLEAR: Maurice; Miss GracieObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. NPC interactions will be rnged from your team roster once per week, and toplevels for those will also be posted, although all team members can hear/see these interactions! |

[A shake of Baren's head and he laughs - ]
And you think anyone else can even be here? Idiot! Moooron!
[There's a snort as he steps forward.]
Hey. Can you get out of my face before I throw up? You're wasting my time and upsetting my stomach.

Above. Togusa cuts himself off when he hears the sound of metal on metal coming above him in the hallway. He whirls around to see that one of these fuckers has snuck up on them on the ceiling. It starts to let go to swing down, and Togusa lets go of that blast of telekinetic energy in its direction.
no subject
You got guns, right? You a good shot? Because these fuckers are quick and so am I - but I don't pull the Swiss Cheese look very well.
[His expression is clear, as if any frustration he'd had before is gone. His new focus is on making sure that Togusa doesn't get injured - not that he'd ever say it out loud.]
no subject
And Togusa as so worked up that there's no way he'll be steady enough to go for his gun. He gestures as a telekinetic wave goes to the one in the back, trying to hook its ankle and drag it of the ceiling. It loses its grip, but impossibly flips in mid-air, to land, rather than the damaging slam Togusa was going for.

Even as it lands on the ground, Baren makes a snapping gesture at the wrist with both of his hands, sending shocks of black electricity toward the two Spider Slicers.
Though he pauses to look back at Togusa, expression vaguely troubled.]
Hey geezer, you gotta chill. Your temper's making you get in the way. If you're bugged out, go back to the group - I've got this.
[he probably doesn't but he'll say it anyway]
no subject
"Yeah, no. I think I'm staying right here."
The other one lobs a hook, too, and instead, Togusa catches it, and spins it around, shooting the projectile right back at the Slicer that threw it. Angry or not, at least he's alert.
no subject
Baren continues to look unimpressed, brows furrowing.]
Mmmmm'kay, just don't get in my way.
[And that's all he's got before he's the one flipping out into action, chasing right after the Spider Slicer that got its projectile sent back. He pulls out a second giant knife that he had - because of course he did - proceeds to clash with the creature complete with angry sparks of colliding metal.
With every motion there's a new addition to Baren's momentum, coupled with his wild battle style that leads to a stand-off on acrobatics up until he's charged up enough electricity to knock the enemy out in one blow.
He's leaving the other one to Togusa if he's intent on not leaving - expecting him to at least stay alive.]

Togusa throws up another shield around himself for a few seconds, keeping the Slicer at bay, while he watches Baren. Because of course. Of course it's another one. Another kid, too young to have to do this, throwing himself into battle against an unthinkable monster. Already some kind of an injury, from this lifetime, or from the shadow play that Retrospec is showing them? Another set of memories of fighting, forced on a life that should never have had to take up a weapon.
Maybe this one's already lost. Maybe Baren wants this life to be true. Maybe it's why he wants to act so directly against Retrospec.
It's a cold anger that this line of thought sparks in Togusa. Dousing the anger at Baren, and instead getting angry on his behalf. Why? Even if Retrospec isn't the one writing the script here? Why does this have to exist?
The Slicer wants to climb on the ceiling? Togusa pins it there, pressing upwards against every point of its body. There's a shake to his hand as he keeps the pressure going.

It's with one more backflip that he manages to dodge away from a hook, though the electricity coils around him now, all crackling darkness. For all that Baren's a jackass with a difficult personality and a tongue like a whip, he's skilled at most things he tries his hand at. Which means that adapting to the new power has been easy, allowing him to send one preliminary shock at the Spider Slicer to stun it before he aims up the bigger blast and releases the black lightning bolt from his hands to ruin his opponent. It barely stares disintegrating behind him before he's running to attend to Togusa and the second slicer.
He conjures more lightning, lets it wrap around his arm and the knife, then gets ready to jump—]
Hold it, geezer!
[if it's frozen in place, that'll make it all the easier for Baren to give it a clean impalement]
no subject
It's a threat. He won't deny that. But why? What's the point of these things if they just dissipate like that? They appeared out of nowhere, and now they disappear back into nowhere.
"They took the place of nothing..." Something his colleague had said to him what feels like only hours ago.
Togusa keeps his hold on the creature, he'll let Baren be the one to finish it off if he's so eager.
no subject
Aaaaand then he'll hop back down, flicking the disintegrating dust off his knife as he tilts his head at Togusa.]
Done.
You good, old man? Head back to the terminal if you need to take a breather. I can run a perimeter to make sure there's nothing else.
no subject
Not. Worth it.
"You look around." Togusa scoops up the key card, and he's headed for the next room. "Since you're so concerned about me pulling my weight." He turns and heads in to Room 1, towards the Room 2 door.
...But before he continues on, he might be sending a few texts to help cool his heels.
