[OPEN] RECOLLÉ TREASURE HUNT

Four in One,
under eternal rainfall,
a ReVA event coordinator makes Five,
with clue #1 for you all.

Either by solving the above riddle, hearing the answer through the grapevine, or simply following the trickle of people gathering at the center of Recollé Square this early Sunday morning, one finds Ryoji circling the Founders fountain with a box tucked under his arm and a ready greeting for anybody that approaches him to get started on their hunt. To each team, he hands over a blank sticker and their choice of marker in any of the colors of the rainbow— red, orange, yellow, grey, grey, purple— to write down their name and their team name, along with a small white pin reading "TH 2017 Participant" in bold red. Both the name tag and the pin must be affixed somewhere visible on the front of each member's shirt before he hands over their clue.

Have fun, play hard, get on out of here and find that treasure!

[ notes: IC, the above can be hand-waved, with top-levels in this post starting from when Ryoji hands your team the first clue. OOC, all clues will be distributed on the ooc/sign-ups post, and any questions can be directed there as well. ]

[ annabeth is Ready for this. she is wearing an orange shirt emblazoned with CAMP HALF-BLOOD and a beaded necklace around her neck, as well as a... fanny pack. it's not lame and it's on her hip for water, her knife, her cell phone, a small notepad, a keyring with a banana... IMPORTANT THINGS. the white pin is on the belt of the pack, whereas her sticker is on the front of her shirt.

after this totally well named team (annabeth, when she learned what luke named it: >| ) gets their first clue, they head back to cabin eleven to discuss it, because of course they do.

LET US READ THE CLUE, OVER JUICE OR SOMETHING, insert an oracle joke. ]

[ it's summer. so thalia is in a purple tanktop SINCE BLUE IS NOT AN OPTION, HER FAVORITE COLOR, FUCK YOU, and black jean shorts, and has, like, a messenger bag strung across her chest. there is aegis on her wrist, too, and her hair is like, braided up into a coronet bun.

she's also got sneakers. AND THEY HAVE TO HAVE STICKERS WITH THE STUPID TEAM NAME ON THEIR SHIRTS, SO.

she takes a minute to fucking punch luke in the arm for like the 10th time since she had to put that on, right now. ]

Math? So, like...what, 13 - 14, then 11, then square it?

[He definitely feels bad about the team name, really! He feels so bad that the laughter that comes from Thalia punching him in the shoulder again is totally his imagination. The pin is on one sleeve of his t-shirt and his nametag is on the other sleeve, but he's busy serving up drinks for the three of them even as he's listening. He's also wearing the dirty converse sneakers Retrospec sent him for some reason, and the necklace that seems to match Annabeth's is wrapped around his wrist.]

Good to know you won't have to sass anybody. [That's to Annabeth, but he appears thoughtful anyway.] Eleven squared is 121, but what does that lead us to? [He rubs the back of his neck as he sets glasses down.] "Outside and inside, nothing is shared." So...what, it's a place that serves individual people only?

[ listen she's wearing shorts with her tee. and sneakers with crew socks. she also misses blue :(

annabeth is so annoyed but lets thalia do the punching. ]

Ha, ha. [ but she is glad there's no shitty sphinx involved. ] Does Recollé have a 121st street? With a place that has a... privacy clause? A doctor's office? Lawyer's office?

[ she may have google maps recolle open to look. ]

The Tax place?

[ she leans against the bar, reaches over to grip luke's wrist, and drags it across the counter so she can examine the necklace/bracelet up close. as soon as he's free from drink making. ]

I'm starting to feel left out of the friendship necklace circle.

[ though ALL THREE OF THEM have matching stupid grey eyes. damn. ]

They do offer a 20% discount on massages if you hire them for your tax work. [He's momentarily distracted when Thalia takes his wrist, simply allowing it and watching her carefully. Shut up, Annabeth.]

Not even sure you want to be part of this circle since it came from Retrospec. Or at least mine did.

Please tell me you didn't use a massage coupon from a tax place. But, maybe?

[ goddamn their gray eyes. ]

Mine did too. What, do you think I made this thing? [ luke please. ] But if they don't want to send you one, I guess we can make one. Paint some beads, stick them on a cord.

[ thalia...is completely focused on the bracelet lmao sorry luke!! she actually is looking at the beads individually and just kind of moving his wrist around as needed. why is she this way. ]

These are pretty detailed. Are they the same beads as you have? [ to annabeth. ] And that's the only number-y thing I can think of besides, you know, here.

[chiseler]

[So here we have Luke staring at Thalia, Thalia staring at the beads, and Annabeth probably staring at both of them. What a disaster of a team. Strangely there's only five beads on Luke's necklace in comparison to the ten on Annabeth's necklace.]

That's implying I did my taxes. [He's joking (probably), but hm.] She's got a point though, these definitely look hand-made. [He nods toward the shirt Annabeth's wearing.] That's new though.

[Numbers...] The tax place would make sense because I don't know why our first clue would lead us here. I live here. On the other hand the math kinda checks out.

[ this is fine and not weird at all. ]

Luke. [ do your taxes. ] Yeah, I have some of the same, except. More. Plus the couple of random things. [ she'll tap the college ring and piece of coral. they. kind of stand out among the beads. ]

No idea why I have more. Maybe I'm better at arts and crafts? [ JOKING ] And yeah, I'm lucky enough to get the uh, shirt. With a winged horse on it, because sure, that makes sense.

[ ok numbers ] Well, unless they didn't think about that when they handed us the clue. Or just wanted to mess with us?

[ sorry for making this awkward annabeth but thalia is examining every bead. ]

So...what do these even mean? I think this is a centaur? In a prom dress. Why the fuck is a centaur in a prom dress.

[ shakes luke's wrist at luke like he will have an explanation? ]

Also, we may as well look around here first before wandering off somewhere and having to backtrack. Nothing lost for checking, right?

[And again, he sure does just let her.]

Nothing lost for checking. [But he's a little more interested now.] ...this is a centaur, and that--[A gesture.]--is a pegasus. What if we're just being haunted by horses?

[wiselys]

May as well. [ the search is on. ]

There's also a tree, I have a blanket and a high-rise, they're all weird. ... A sphinx and a dragon aren't horses, also. [ js ]

fun fact i spent an hour convinced it was ty's turn...

...Sense. Why would we be haunted by horses? Or you two, since I don't have one yet.

[...yeah. If it weren't for the fact he was staring at her he wouldn't have noticed the slight pause, but he does. He doesn't bring it up, unsure what's happening but he's keeping a close watch on her anyway even as he answers, even as he turns his wrist in her hold a little.]

Makes as much sense as the dragon and the sphinx. And whatever else we might remember? I'm sort of just wondering...what kind of name is Camp Half-Blood anyway?

[ annabeth gets half-distracted re-reading the clue and having. her own. oh. to notice thalia's oh.

I mean, I assume it's the name of a camp. Like a summer camp? Half-Blood is the... weird part, though. Maybe we're all centaurs and haven't noticed?

I think we were mostly monster hunters or something. [ distracted, as she finally lets go of luke's wrist. ]

That aside...math. What's our guess for the first clue?

[ she is absolutely not thinking about ?!?!!?!?!?! turning into a tree ?!?!?!!?!?! ]

[chiseler]

We fought monsters while we were runaways. [To clarify. He knows something's up with both of them, but there's nothing to say just yet, so he gently pulls his wrist from Thalia to glance around the bar.]

121. If you take just the digits, that also equals four. Not sure if that means anything...[Yeah it's hard to think about math when your sister and your...Thalia...are a little distracted, too.] I guess our guess could be here? Outside and inside, nothing is shared...gossip flies around inside the bar all the time but that's the opposite of not sharing.

So. Maybe a four, some kind of confidentiality clause. Annabeth, what'd you pull up on the map?

Makes as much sense as anything. [ she's still playing with the clue paper distractedly. ]

Assuming squared is mathematical, too. Four. Hm. Four is also a square? [ this is hard. she mostly like mathematical measurements for like. architecture and graphing and shit not this. ] Yeah, here doesn't quite fit that section of the clue. Unless this building is notably square? Maybe?

[ she forgot the map. PUTS DOWN THE CLUE. ] Nothing comes up for 121... or 4. Uh. There's a cathedral or a cabaret club that could fit the latter half of the proph-- clue. Of the clue. But not the squared over a baker's dozen minus three thing. Retrospec also hates sharing sometimes, too.

[ yeah okay annabeth she caught that. ]

But if it's here, let's look around, I guess?

[chiseler]

[...yeah, he caught that, too.]

Proph. [He's raising an eyebrow, and he's not going to continue just yet.] What were you going to say, Annabeth?

[wiselys]

Clue? I said clue.

[ casually starts searching around though they will find nada. she's checking under tables and. whatever. treasure hunt > weird ass memories. ]

If you were going to hide a clue here, where would you?

You did not, but we'll let it slide. Honestly...I think if it were here, Luke would have had to know.

[ LIKE. AS OWNER. ]

So...maybe we should head to the tax place?

[chiseler]

Uh. I'm not going to let it slide, but we can talk about it on our way to the tax place. [He's patting his pockets to make sure he has his keys.] ...both of you.

[No elaboration, but he's moving to head out of the bar to lock up and let one of the girls take the lead.] ...weird question for you guys. Does this feel weirdly familiar?
