look out new world here we come (OTA)

WHO: Adrien, Marinette & YOU!
WHERE: the v. rough and tough streets of Recolle
WHEN: 5/9 oooor 5/11
WHAT: dangerous teens with a skateboard and slightly less dangerous teens busking
WARNINGS: don't get hit by a skateboard, it hurts

Event A → Hit me, hit me with your skateboard;
[So, there’s been a little change to the city, wink wink. People are adjusting to being tiny -- or not. They’re finding their way around the giant surroundings, animals, bugs, etc -- or not. You may be minding your own business, just trying not to get trampled on. Or maybe you’re investigating, or maybe you’re just trying to have a short (wink, wink) reprieve from the insanity.]

[Sadly, that’s not happening. You hear screaming, followed by two teenagers who appear to be riding a giant skateboard down the sidewalk. A giant yoyo has been wrapped around the skateboard, while one of the teens (a dark-haired girl with pigtails) is having just a teensy weensy amount of trouble steering it. The blond-haired boy behind her is clutching her and yelling loudly. As they barrel in your direction, you hear a simultaneous cry of--]

Watch out!

[Before one of the following happens:]

[i. The skateboard’s coming at you, too quickly to dodge. Either you jump on it or the teens pull you on, as you narrowly avoid being run over. In which case, welcome to the ride. It’s going to be wild]

[ii. You have to run ahead of it as it comes for you, just barely keeping yourself from being flattened while the teens shriek and try to swerve out of the way so they don’t hit you. All the while, they’re screaming at you to run so you don’t get hit]

[iii. The skateboard avoids you altogether and speeds up a makeshift ramp made from abandoned pizza boxes, causing them to go flying and actually flip -- hey, a trick -- while they scream and grab onto the yoyo string to keep from falling. How many points did they get? Feel free to clap, or boo, or call a small ambulance. An antbulance, if you will.]
Event B → there is a sad violin playing and also probably it is raining
[If you managed to miss the Skateboard Fiasco of earlier, rest assured that for our poor teens, the horror is not over yet. At least it seems that way with both teens sadly hanging around the curb, their skateboard a few feet back and obviously missing a wheel. They look contrite and are taking turns to approach any passer-by with a plea:]

I’m so sorry to bother you, but would you happen to have any spare change for the bus fare? We accidentally crashed and broke our, um, “vehicle”, and we live on the other side of town… We’ve got no way back.

[they look so sad, these poor down on their luck teens with their conveniently broken skateboard. In fact, if you pay enough attention to the skateboard, you might notice something a little off… but come on. It’s just bus fare. There’s NO WAY anything deeper is involved! Won’t you help these poor & sad (emphasis on poor and sad) teenagers, who are PROBABLY orphans, lbr????]
Post-Event → busking is sexy and cool if French teens are doing it
[Everything’s back to normal-- supposedly. Everyone is normal sized, at least, which is something. It doesn’t look like the locals noticed anything off at all -- which was unnerving -- but life is already proceeding as if it never happened.]

[For Marinette and Adrien -- or whatever names they’re using today -- they’re right back on schedule. Starting with money. They need money to live, and for other things.]

[If you’re walking down the street (and enjoying not having to ride animals or struggle to get on the bus to do so), you may notice them busking. Adrien’s playing a song on his accordion, while Marinette’s set up a small sketching area for street caricatures. As you walk by, they try to catch your eye -- there’s a cup for money for the boy, and there’s a small sign right above the sample caricatures (and they’re actually quite good) reading 10$]

Hello! [She says, cheerfully, while Adrien winks at you] Do you want a picture?

[And he pitches in, pausing in his playing momentarily:] Or you can simply stay and enjoy some music? [and pay him motherfucker. he winks again because he is only thinking that but seriously, pay him. also because he has a winking problem]
Wildcard;
[Want something else? Or your own prompt? Hit us, hit us with your car skateboard]

[That was a whole lot of winking going on. Chloe blinked back at the winking and cocked her head. Well, this was certainly a 'thing,' wasn't it? Still, street performers were not unheard of and every once in a while she might be willing to toss a donation in for one of them.

She looked from one to the other and bobbed her head. Had she met the girl before? In all the insanity of the last week, she wasn't entirely sure. There'd been too much going on really to remember everyone she might have met recently.]

Please, do not let me interrupt the music.

[Don't worry, she looked like she was palming a bit of cash, Adrien, though she wasn't the sort to pay until he'd played.]
missmaladroite: (Since you came along)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2017-05-12 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Aha, a sucker]

[Marinette recognizes this girl as someone she's successfully weaseled money out of before, so she's going to pour on the "charm".]

Well! You're free to stop and enjoy it. He's playing for the public, after all.

[just don't let him wink at you]

Besides, if he focuses on playing, that means his mouth will be occupied. [Marinette don't be a shit]

[Yeah, the winking thing was definitely a little weird. Chloe smirked over at the young woman and laughed.] Oh? Is someone a bit of a loud-mouth when he shouldn't be?

How do the two of you know each other? Brothers and sisters, perhaps?

[If her past 'mark' status was any indication, she wasn't going to be a good way to get a lot of money, but hey. When you're busking, every little tip in the jar tended to make more follow.]
missmaladroite: (Since you came aloooong)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2017-05-20 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Money is money. Even if this girl doesn't have a lot, the fact that she came back for Marinette's services a second time means she could be useful. Good publicity, maybe?]

Yes, exactly like that. [She gives her partner a bit of an exasperated (but fond), smirk. This girl gets it]

Ah-- yes! This is my brother, Felix. He likes making a spectacle of himself, so don't mind that, but if you ignore his words and just listen to the music he's quite talented.

[What was the old line of thought about leaving a little money in the hat to entice more? Publicity was rarely a bad thing.]

Mmm, I am accustomed to rather ... bold personalities from time to time. I think I can give him a chance to play his heart out. I... do not think we have met, or have we by chance? You look a little familiar.
missmaladroite: (I BELIEVE IN MIRACLESSSSS)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2017-05-28 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[She's new(ish) to town. She'll take what she can get]

Ah, so you're used to people with too much energy and bad jokes. [harsh, "sis"....]

Now that you mention it, I feel like we've run into each other before. Er, I think I remember, I had some clothing for sale...?

Mmm, I've been getting used to it. There's a cute sailor I know who has way too much of both. She's worse than your brother. ...unless he likes pro wrestling humor.

[She laughed at that, before blinking and then making an 'ah hah!' motion with her hand.] Oh yes, I do remember you. Still working on you artistic skills, I hope.
missmaladroite: ((sexy thing you))

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2017-06-01 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't put it past him. His sense of humour's... unique. He'll make anything a joke.

[Dryly. But it's shortlived, as she's pleased to see Chloe does in fact remember her!]

Yes, absolutely! Thank you for your encouragement the other day. And today. I, ah, really appreciate it.

[She nodded, tossing a tip into the hat while the two of them chatted, laughing in the process.]

I have met a few like that in this city. It is not such a terrible thing to always be laughing. Unless it is one of those moments where we have to be serious. And you're welcome. I do hope that you have success. It's not exactly an easy field to jump into.
true_noir: (Peaceful)

No worries

[Well, this was certainly an experience. But, at the very least she was finding the experience amusing for some reason. It was likely the sort of infectious energy that the two of them had about them.]

Heh, he certainly seems to be a chatty one, is he not? [The flash of the visible cash was there to goad him on, and she seemed to be waiting for the end of the piece to pay.]
