OPEN: Stardust ice skating rink
[ maybe you've decided to visit the ice skating rink on this hot summer day! makes sense, right? what doesn't make sense is a completely white-haired boy pacing on the side of the building, staring at something in his hands. he looks...completely pensive about this, whatever it may be, and it's clear that he's not exactly here to ice skate.

regulars may recognize him, as he comes here at least once a month--and he's pretty good at ice skating, too. to all others, however, he just looks shady as fuck. ]

OPEN: after the theft
[ outside of either a) the stardust, b) tachibana's book store, or c) the towers, in plain sight, there's a wild orca leaning against the building with its arms folded across its chest.

that's it. it's just leaning there. not moving, not saying anything. it's just there.

shuji - paint a portrait

[ after hitsugaya's out of the stupid orca suit, he passes through a nearby park on the way home. it's a shortcut and he can cut through some roads quicker this way.

in the corner of his eye, however, is something...familiar--no, someone. someone he'd much rather avoid if given a choice.

though it's hard when he's literally walking right in front of shuji. there's no way shuji wouldn't see him, right? well...toushiro's just going to pretend like he doesn't see anyone at all. ]

[Someone familiar, who happens to have an entire set of paints and an easel.]

Toushiro! Hey, Toushiro, have you got a minute? Or five?

[He doesn't look like he's plotting anything nefarious... Surely a person can call out to their acquaintance in the park when he sees them?]

[toushiro]

[ oh god. he's been spotted--toushiro stops and pauses a little, before slowly turning to face shuji. ]

...What is it.

[thesettingsun]

Stand still long enough for me to paint your portrait? It's for bingo and it won't take long.

[It also won't be very good, but Shuji doesn't have to mention that, right?]

[toushiro]

...I guess I have a few minutes.

[ but uh.

he was kind of an unnecessary douche to shuji a few weeks ago? so...he'll just. stand with his arms crossed, sort of dreading what's about to happen. ]

[Why would you ever dread that? Ridiculous.

In any case, Shuji takes it that Hitsugaya wants his pose to be 'grumpy with arms crossed', and gets to work with the painting. He looks like he's concentrating hard on it, dipping into various colors, some that aren't actually on Hitsugaya's person at the moment (is that neon green?)

It takes about five minutes before Shuji announces,] I think I'm done. Do you want to see it?

[toushiro]

[ tbh that's his default pose but he's

never gonna be ready enough to see that painting tbh. is shuji really painting or is he just...making a mess. we won't know until we find out, right. ]

Suuure.

[ he says it about as sarcastically as you think ]

[The good news: Shuji has been painting! And it looks like Hitsugaya, sort of.

Bad news: it's less than flattering. The way Hitsugaya's head is smushed into his shoulders with no neck makes him look like a munchkin. His attempts at making the colors more accurate just make them muddy. His nose is too big and his eyes are too small, and overall it's just Bad.]

Well? What do you think? I worked hard on it!

[Can you really tell this hopeful face that it's terrible, though...]

Outside the towers

[frisyr]

[ This wasn't here earlier... Emil goes to look, maybe they're doing a sports tie in for a tournament coming up? He approaches and starts feeling the fabric of the hoodie...

Tug Tug... ]

[toushiro]

[ okay, well.

he'd. be a little more impressed if he actually had a neck. he's not really a huge art critic?? but where is his neck. WHERE DID IT GO. ]

It's.

[ ... okay he's going to bite his tongue ] Fine.

[ it is not fine........... ]

[ a noise escapes his mouth, and he's about to say something in annoyance, but he holds back at the last second. he can't have anyone knowing it's him! he won't give his identity away.

so, still leaning against the wall, he simply gives a nod.

yes? ]

[frisyr]

[ The mannequin moved and Emil jumps back. ]

Sorry, didn't realize there was a person in there. They make you do this for work? What's... even the promotion going on?

[Necks are hard, okay.

Shuji sparkles when he hears that it's acceptable. He's so happy that Hitsugaya doesn't hate it.]

Really? I'm so glad! I haven't painted anything since art class so I was kind of worried, but I did my best to make it look like you!

[toushiro]

[ made him do this for work....you know, that's not a bad lie, but he'd rather not be even more at risk from being banned from the rink than he already is.

he shrugs. then, in a quiet voice: ]

Bingo.

[toushiro]

[ ...shuji seems so happy about it? toushiro isn't heartless, and he's not going to shoot him down, so. he'll give a little smirk. ]

It definitely looks like me.

[ minus the lack of a neck but ] Was this for bingo?

[frisyr]

...Oh.

[ Duh. ]

So... what, do you have to stand out here like this? Or is there something else involved?

I have to stand in a public area. That's it.

[ not really a talkative one, this boy. he sounds pretty grumpy about it, too. ]

Nope. Already knocked that one off of my list.

Yeah. I'm trying for a blackout, so I've gotta do everything, even the stuff I'm not any good at.

[ finding people to do the bingo cards with has been a challenge, especially for the stupider entries. but once you find someone with a matching square it thankfully becomes slightly less shitty.

so, here they are. at the beach. they probably had to borrow surfboards or something. karkat has never surfed in his life so this is going to be terrible. ]

[ he tries. so hard. ]

...Sure, if you have time. [ he pulls out his bingo card, takes a glance at it. ] Arm wrestle me.

[ they definitely had to borrow surfboards because, really, this boy does not know the first thing when it comes to surfing and has never tried it before in his entire life.

but here they are.

two clueless boys getting ready for a surfing race. this is going to be absolutely terrible. ]

[ at least... the waves don't look that big? that probably means there's less of a chance of them injuring themselves, or worse, embarrassing themselves. ]

[ toushiro uses his head to gesture at the park bench shuji was sitting on; he gets on the ground, and then rests his elbow on top of the bench. they're doing this. this is actually happening. ]
