WHAT: A normal Kandam hangout between friends. At least, that's what it was supposed to be.
WARNINGS: There's Shin and Souji, so silliness is kind of mandatory. Will be updated depending on what happens! /o/


[ It's Monday.

It's Monday and Shin literally had nothing to do today. Normally he'd hang out around Takumi's sushi place for food, but unfortunately he's running short on cash. Which meant that the only thing he has right now is parts of his own personal project and more of his Kanplas.

Well, fortunately, Souji seemed willing to work on more Kanpla after that talk they had. He supposed it's to keep his minds off things, which Shin cannot honestly fault him for. So there he was, on the way towards Souji and Yu's place when he came across it. ]

...?

[ Right there, on the road, was a pink cellphone. Normally he'd just leave it there for someone else to find, since there's always a possibility for the owner to come for it. But... for some reason, he can't bring himself to just walk past it.

It felt familiar.

He picked it up, and looked it over. It's non-descript. With some straps for decoration, which signified that this definitely belonged to a girl. ]

Huh, must've dropped it in a rush.

[ He opened it, and realized that the phone wasn't even locked. At this point, Shin realized that he... should probably stop there before he does something stupid with an unknown person's phone. With that, he just pocketed the phone, and rushed towards the twins' place. At this point he's 30 minutes late, and he's rarely late when it comes to Kanplas.

He tried to reassure himself by physically saying "I'll give it to the police officer later.", but for some reason, him having this phone felt right. And the thought of giving it away grew... distant everytime it came up.

Well, whoever owned this phone is going to not miss it anyways. Who even uses clamshells at this age?

...By the time he realized it, he's in front of Souji and Yu's door. So he's going to knock on it. ]

[ Kanplas have been a good distraction with all that's going on. To spend hours working on tiny plastic models, cutting and painting all their parts, is a good way to pass the time without really thinking. To have someone to share this hobby with him and indulge him with these distractions has been good for Souji, and he looks forward to whenever Shin comes over to visit. ]

[ He notices when Shin is running late though and he considers texting him when there's a knock on the front door. Well, looks like Shin beat him to the punch. He gets up and opens the door, smiling. ]

Hey, caught in traffic?

[ He stands to the side so he can let Shin in. ]

[ Yu is further within the apartment, with a cat in his arms, leaning back slightly at the hips so he can catch a glimpse of Shin. He's smiling too, in a way that probably makes it obvious why people mix up the twins so much. They seem so identical. ]

Come on in. It's just us and the cats.

[impulsives]

Something like that.

[ To be honest, this would be Shin's first time of seeing both Yu and Souji in the same place at once and... yeah, it's glaringly obvious on how easy it is to mistake either of them. Shin knew Souji enough that he can marginally tell which one is which if they try to pull the trick on him.

................on a really good day, that is.

Still, he smiled a bit and let himself in, making sure to remove his shoes by the doorway. He also nodded at Yu, for politeness' sake. ]

Hopefully the cats would be nicer about pawing runners this time. They seemed awfully keen on shiny things.

[ He's going to just drop the slightly heavy backpack he's been carrying around right around the entrance, and just raises the plastic bag that contained the Kandam models he's going to work on today.

Alongside some primers and paint, spares that he's not using back at his place. Since he figured Souji'll need it more than him. ]

[ Souji takes Shin's backpack so he can help bring it in (especially if Shin is going to give him some sweet free primers and paint like the cool bro that he is). ]

No promises. I think Kohi-san took one with the extra pieces.

[ He looks at Yu. ]

... did he ever give that back?

[covenantal]

It's lost to the cat dimension.

[ Kohi-san, curled up peacefully in his arms, meows an agreement. Or what's apparently an agreement, anyway.

Shin will get a polite nod back. Yu will hang out while they build models, but it's not really his thing, so he won't be building any of his own. He's kind of thinking of grabbing a book... ]

Cat dimension...

[ Shin says it in a slightly amused way. Well, it's unfortunate, but cats are pretty much unpredictable as it is so Shin just pretty much let it slide. Before Yu can complete his thought on grabbing a book though. ]

...Also, Souji, I figured since Yu's here, think we can get him to start on a kit as well?

My poor runner...

[ Overly dramatic sad tone that's clearly playful but as he walks in towards the living room and puts down Shin's backpack, he looks back at Shin. ]

You know, that might be a good idea. [ Turning to Yu. ] Want to give it a try? We have some extra kits to spare.

[covenantal]

Ah...

[ Kind of blinks between Souji and Shin. Normally he might refuse, but ... it's hard to say no to their hopeful faces. With a sigh, he'll set Kohi-san down and smile a little. ]

Alright. But I can't promise I won't make a mess of whatever kit you give me.

[impulsives]

Don't worry, I came prepared.

[ Nodding at Souji in thanks for well, bringing his bag there, Shin is going to just pull out one box from his plastic bag and showed it to Yu.

[ Souji nods as Shin picks out the model for Yu. ]

They're pretty simple and straight forward to make. I'm sure your steady origami-folding hands will handle it just fine.

[ Yu is laughing faintly as he takes the kit. He's been thoroughly cornered, it seems... well, this is hardly the worst punishment. ]

I see I was never going to escape... alright, then. [ He'll shoot Souji a smile, small and warm. ] Does this mean I get to teach you origami in return?

[ But he'll settle with them to build. The companionship is nice, at least. ]

[impulsives]

[ The building session went relatively well, with Shin and Souji discussing the latest Kandam shows, and Yu getting pointers from the both of them every once and a while. Overall, it was a pretty nice experience for all three of them.

It's not until when they decided to take a snack break when Shin finally spoke up about the phone he picked up earlier. ]

...So. Uh, I... might have taken someone's phone without permission.

[ Well, that's one way to open this. ]

Only if the origami is shaped like a Kandam.

[ But yes, off to building they go! Cue fast forwarding to the snack break where Souji is spending his time drumming on a fat cat's belly. Meet Manzoku-san, an overweight kitty who gladly lies on its back for Souji to pat his tummy as long as he gets snacks. It's good for the both of them but as Shin admits to Grand Theft Phone, Souji stops and looks up. ]

... Did you accidentally take it?

[ He's not going to jump straight to accusing Shin for stealing (tho wtf) ]

...Kind of.

[ There's a bit of a silence as Shin tries to figure out what he should say. 'The phone felt really familiar to me' just sounds fucking weird. Still, he's going to reach into his bag and pulled out the phone in question. ]

Nobody was around this phone, when I found it. But... for some reason, it felt like I owned it, despite the fact that I've never used one of these before.

[ Souji hasn't regained any items yet in this manner so he can't comment anything like that so far but this does pique his interest. Strange things have been happening lately so it's hard to dismiss a feeling like that. ]

Did you look through the phone to see who it belonged to?

[ He's not one to go trough someone's stuff but in this case, it might be reasonable to check if they needed to contact the owner. ]

[impulsives]

...No, I think I'd feel bad if I do, you know, snooping around into what seemed to be a girl's phone.

[ Still, he stared at it blankly, opening the phone. There's just a tentative look that's growing on Shin's face. Whether it's curiosity or just... deep contemplation, that's up for either of the twin to figure out. ]

But at the same time, I want to find out. Just to get rid of this strange familiar feeling.

[ There's an understanding nod. ]

I know, but you can contact the owner if can find a home number or anything on their phone. It's not the best solution but I think they'll be understanding.

[ And if they find anything in there that might give any clue as to why Shin feels so familiar about it then that's an added bonus. Souji will offer to look through if Shin doesn't want to. ]

...Yeah.

[ A few more seconds, before Shin finally actually spoke up again. Well, better get on with it he supposed. ]

I'm opening it.

[ And with that, he just opens the phone. Seems like this is just a normal phone, with a girly background, now that he looks at it closer. Either ways, she should have her house's phone number in the contact list.

So he just pressed the menu button and navigated using the arrow keys, hitting the address book icon. ]

...Wha—

[ Right there, in the address book was only one name.

[ He's been letting them talk, intrigued by the phone - he recognizes the feeling Shin is talking about, after all - but not commenting on the conversation. His kit was absorbing enough of his attention--

Well, at least until that last reaction. Yu pauses in his movements, blinking as he looks up. ]

... what's the matter?

[ With Shin's reaction, Souji scoots over a bit closer to try and peer over to see what caught Shin's attention. There he also sees the exact same thing that causes Shin to pause. ]

... this is yours?

[ Albeit there seems to be an extra 'n' but... ]

[impulsives]

[ Extra 'n' aside, he's going to just... press the middle button to confirm accessing the entry. The number that greeted him is definitely not his. ]

It's not, I think it isn't. This isn't my number at all.

[ Without thinking, he immediately pressed the call button, and put the phone in speaker mode. (It felt natural, practiced, but then again it's not hard to do so with any kind of phones in general). ]

"The number you're calling could not be reached at this time. Please try again later."

[ ...Ah. ]

...Well, that's... about as expected.

[ There's a small frown on his face; he's watching Shin, but his gaze flicks to Souji for just a moment, trying to share a Look, his expression unreadable.

Then his attention is back on Shin. ]

... this probably has something to do with Retrospec.

[ A bit dryly. ]

[ The Look is shared and while Yu's expression may be unreadable by Shin or anyone else, they're twins. Souji has a feeling or just knows what Yu is thinking. ]

... I know that people have been receiving items from their dreams or visions from Retrospec while others are finding them. Perhaps this is one of those items.

[impulsives]

So... this thing belonged to... the me from my memories?

[ The name's slightly different but, there's only so much reason on why a pink phone would feel really familiar to him. Either ways, he's going to just navigate the phone again, randomly pressing buttons.

At least, that was the plan until a female voice rang out in the middle of him pressing buttons.

Causing him to drop his phone in shock. ]

"Hi, Mayu here! I'm sorry, I can't talk to you right now. I'll call you back later, so please leave your name after the beep!"

[ ..............................there's a long silence, before Shin picks it up again. ]

...Hey. Souji, Yu.

[ ... ]

If this item is supposed to be mine...

[ ...why does the owner... sound almost, almost, because Mayu was never that friendly or bubbly. Mayu is snarky, and just tend to be slightly snobbish rather than that.

He can't finish this sentence, but it's clear he's slightly shaken. ]

[ That voice... Even if Souji and Shin only got to spend one year together, you don't get to know someone for four whole years without getting to know about their siblings. As they listen to the voicemail, Souji also freezes, staring at the phone and then cautiously goes to pick it up. He sets it on table (in case Shin doesn't want to take it just yet). ]

... I'm assuming you know this isn't your sister's phone.

[ Even if this is her voice and it has his contact number, Shin's reaction seem to say otherwise. ]

[ Yu's brow furrows slightly as he watches Shin. He can't pretend to know the other boy nearly as well as Souji does, but it's easy enough to see he's shaken by this turn of events. He won't touch the phone, instead leaving that to Souji. Instead he'll lace his fingers and rest his chin on them, thoughtful. ]

It couldn't be...

[ A pause. ]

Your sister... is she a Retrospec user, or...?

[impulsives]

She's not. She's all the way back in California right now, so there's no way she'd be involved with all that crap back home.

[ Shin's calming down a bit, though at this point he's just staring weirdly at the phone. No, Mayu was never one for these old-fashioned phones either, so... there's no way it could be her. ]

And no, my sister showed me her new phone two weeks ago, and it was nothing like this or her old phone.

[ ...so then... why would his past self has something that belonged to what Shin currently presumes to be his sibling? ]
