[ Something must have been there before, be it an empty building or maybe it was always there. Buildings don't appear overnight, there has to be evidence of their existence. ]

It might not help, but I'll ask my mother. She was born here; she would know. Or others, whoever has lived in the city the longest, if they know what was in that space before.
