Togusa's hand gentles on James' shoulder when he feels that tiny relaxation. The words to tell James that it's all right die on his lips. The doubt worms its way into his mind. On the screen, an image of Togusa absolutely desperate, methodically shooting out the cybernetic limbs of a perpetrator. One by one. The creature snakes in and finds exactly what Togusa would never want seen by this audience.

"It's- they're analyzing. It's both our lives, and these are turning it.. into code. Into something Retrospec can work with." His words are slow, working out what he thinks out loud. "They have to quantify it."

And if that's true? Togusa hesitates and stares at the creatures, the little wheels starting to turn in his own mind.
